South (East?) London meet-up

Well, I missed the last one in Dulwich Park because of DDs (late) arrival. She's now almost 5 months so I think we are more than overdue for another one!

Any suggestion or ideas would be welcome, I would suggest waiting until after the Easter holidays as everyone seems to be busy over that time. So maybe late April/early May - revisit the park, initial meetup in the cafe, as an opening suggestion?

I'm easy with either week days or weekends, but would prefer lunchtime/early afternoons midweek as I have a 'nursery run'.

Anyone with me?

Similar position to Tigermoth & Twinkie - could make a weekend meet, would need to sponge a lift to Dulwich Park as it is the "wrong" end of SE London for us Norf Kent ladies and involves a trip along the serene and uncluttered boulevard that is the S Circular, Twinkie...

lydialemon · 19/04/2004 14:56

OK going to make a decision now.

This meet up will be on Sunday 2nd May at Dulwich Park - rendezvous between the cafe and the tennis courts at about 12/12.30ish? The tennis courts are marked on the AtoZ and there are lots of signposts there. We'll have a picnic if the weathers good, so bring food!!

Batters, my DS1 is 6, so your DD will not be the oldest. If I get BF to come (she keeps resisting the lure of MN) then hers are 10,5 and 2.

IS THIS OK? PLEASE COME, its my birthday on the 6th, I'll bring a cake!

oh great count me in!

Toots · 19/04/2004 15:12

Hoorah! I'm definately in, even without a nap (am pg not just lazy, although definately lazy)picnics are my fave. My dd is two and a half, and we live in Sydenham.

motherinferior · 19/04/2004 15:15

Shall inform DP. Will no doubt be the very nervous driver in the red car.

Toots, you are very near me.

Twinkie · 19/04/2004 15:17

Fine with me Marina - I only have me and DD - could fit you in the car and have space for 2 kids but that means one would be strapped in by lap belt!!!!! About time we met really with you living just up the road!!

Twinkie · 19/04/2004 15:18

Oh and Marina - you would be in charge of navigating - I can jsut about manage Bromley without getting lost!!

Marina · 19/04/2004 15:38

Twinkie, I'd love to - but will have to bow out now Lydia's settled on a date as we can't make the 2nd . Dd's godfather and his wife coming to lunch and there would be quite a lot of ruffled feathers if we postponed them (again, long story).
Please count me in for next time lydia and I hope you all have fun. I've lived in SE postcodes almost all my life and have never actually BEEN to Dulwich Park...(slinks away in shame)
Someday we will meet Twinkie!

motherinferior · 19/04/2004 15:45

I'm definitely on.

Twinkie · 19/04/2004 15:47

Who needs a lift?? (oh I have a map but would need someone to navigate!!)

lydialemon · 19/04/2004 15:58

twiglett - bring your mum....

Marina, sorry you can't make it

Are we leaving DP/DHs behind? I have a nice little list of chores if we are...

Blu · 19/04/2004 16:14

Good for you, Lydialemon - for getting this plan off the ground! Count me in. (Might bring dp, too).

It could be the start of something new!

Mumsnet mums meet-up, or better yet mumsnet MILs meet-up somewhere difficult to get back from, with an over night stay...

I like my dp very much. In fact I love him deeply and widely. But I'm not bringing him. I'm not sharing on my first ever meet up.

Motherinferior, wherefore art thou?

Toots · 19/04/2004 18:55

Twiglett, you paint a fabulous picture (or should that be self portrait?)

motherinferior · 19/04/2004 19:08

I am in Catford, used to be in Forest Hill (and according to one of my neighbours this is the Forest Hill End Of Catford still).

My dp will enjoy a much needed break before he has a week off with the kids (our childminder is away and he's the one with the Proper Job and Paid Annual Leave

Blu · 20/04/2004 11:44

O.K - my DP gets left at home too! He can mow what we inventively call our 'lawn'.

motherinferior · 20/04/2004 11:46

With this picnicking, are we essentially feeding out own children and bringing something to share, or wot?

tigermoth · 20/04/2004 13:52

so it's sunday, May 2nd Dulwich park? I can make this hopefully and will bring the 4 year old and possibly the 10 year old. They both love having a go on the wheeled vehicles you can hire, so we may do that first before joining you, then bot sons will have used up some of their ample amounts of energy!

lydialemon · 20/04/2004 14:12

MI - don't mind, I'll go with consensus on this one. I was going to do the DSs packed lunches, and then shove something in a bag for me.

So, so far we've got

Me
Tigermoth
MI
Blu
Toots
Twinkie
Evita
Bossykate

and possibly?
Runner
Tex111
Mammya
Batters

Anyone lurking, come on be brave! Twinkie, do you know where you are going yet?

OP posts:
Blu · 20/04/2004 14:16

Let's bring simple things to share. NOT FOOD MOUNTAINS! (if we meet in the afternoon, it will be between lunch and kids tea, anyway) - maybe things that adults like??? And wine/beer?

Blu · 20/04/2004 14:21

Twinkie, you don't need a map! Just follow the south circular past Hornimann museum, past the big Harvester restaurant on the corner of Lordship Lane, past all the cricket pitches until you see a signpost pointing R at a traffic light junction that says 'Dulwich Village', and the gates to the park are on the R before you reach the village, opposite the entrance to the Dulwich picture gallery.

If you are coming, I will e mail you my mobile number in case you go astray!

lydialemon · 20/04/2004 14:22

OK then, so bring food for your own kids (because, lets face it, they tend to be picky little blighters anyway) and something for the adults. I don't have a problem with the wine/beer! Are we going to end up with 9 bottles of wine and a packet of twiglets though
