Hi girls! My name is Cristina I'm from Rome, but I have been living 8 years in London,of which 3 spent in lovely teddington and had my dd1 Giulia now aged 2 at kingston hospital. We've now relocated in Italy but I miss England very much and we're planning to come back....sometimes i long thinking about the beautiful walks along the river....but.....I've reading scary threads about the difficulty to get my dd1 into a good nursery....here we have many problems, but getting into a good nursery for next to nothing is definitely easy....I got many very useful advices on the subject still I swim in a sea of confusion!!!! and can't get my head around it as yet, so it would be great to meet someone from the area to have a chat! I'll be around in Teddington from the 23rd of september up until the 30th (yes...even for holidays I can't help myself coming back there!!!)and I would be very happy to meet for a coffee. Thanks a lot!

Crissi,

I currently live in teddington and have my first child 11 month old and due to paranoia have done a lot of research on childcare. I am working at home today if you would like to meet for coffee. If not I can meet one evening this week. My son has been with a wonderful childminder since he was 3.5 months old and I can let you know my findings with nurseries as well.

Hi Crissi,
You need to check out the league tables, pick a school, live on it's door step and/or meet the church criteria (if it's a church school). You might start by googling "BBC League Tables"

Goodluck!

PS I have an Itallian friend in Ham. If you move back, I can put you in touch with her.

Thanks a lot Bricks, sorry only got your message now that I'm back in rome, while in Teddington we were staying in a studio with no conx to internet, hope it will be for the next time! The idea of a childminder always quite worried me, so it's great to know you found a very good one. Whilst on site we went to check a couple of schools, the Stanley which I think is going to be the one if they use a criteria related to where you live and put dd name down for next year...then we had a look at the newland school a few yards from where we live.....pre prep doesn't look very joyful but I think the primary is much much better.....price wise....well....very expensive! Thanks a lot as well Uwila I certainly will do that straight away and yes it would be great to meet your italian friend and yourself once we'll make the big comeback!
