Hi Jobot. My little uns are 2.8 months and 8 months.Oldest is a boy and youngest a girl.I work at HRI.Not long to go for you now then,God those last weeks are awful arent they esp with a little un chasing round.I remember nothing but being really exhausted and having the most dreadful heartburn and being unable to sleep!!

Jobot · 27/08/2006 19:50

hi there i cant wait for this one to put in an appearence, spd and heartburn and now DH with man flu!! When do you have to go back to the lovely HRI?

wrinklytum · 27/08/2006 20:30

November is my return date to the "lovely" (I assume you were being ironic!)HRI.Still hoping to reduce hours even more.Have been procrastinating for ages but need to sort it out VERY soon.LOL at "manflu".My dp always has "flu" which seems suspiciously like a common cold to me most times.Men,bless em.You have to laugh...Are you having no 2 at the Jubilee Birth Centre?I had no 2 there and they were marvellous, though I didnt have much time to meet my midwife as dd nearly made an appearance in the carpark

Jobot · 27/08/2006 20:41

Definate irony re lovely HRI am going to womens and childrens at HRI as physio has advised I should be there as may have probs with birth. Do you go to any toddler groups etc and do you know of good ones, tried a couple and found them a bit unfriendly.

Late post!Really must go to bed have been watching "Prime suspect"(Sad I know).Re toddler groups I take the kids to a lovely one.Its on a Thursday morning at the newly built church at the top of Newland Avenue.Though its run by the church its not all happy clappy.Shirley the lady that runs it is lovely. It runs from 9.45 to 11.15.It runs in school term time so starts back at around 6 Sept.It costs a pound and the kids have lots of toys to play with and a creative activity ie drawing/play doh. Then they do singing and stories and kids get drink and biscuits and mums get a cuppa. Will try to find Shirleys no if you are interested otherwise if you just turned up no one would mind. Its quite a small group at the mo as a few of the kids have just gone on to nursery so new people would be welcomed with open arms. They are a friendly bunch too!!

Smurfgirl · 28/08/2006 21:06

jobot or wrinkly tum are you around? have a v.quick question abour nursing in hull for an essay...

wrinklytum · 28/08/2006 21:24

Hi Smurfgirl am getting worryingly addicted to mn!!!Will answer query if I can but brain a bit dicky since childbirth !!!

Smurfgirl · 28/08/2006 21:31

Is intermediate care for everyone or just the over 65s? If its everyone where do they go because lots of it seems to be in nursing homes
Do you know what age someone qualifies to go on a medical elderly ward? (in my head its 75?)

And this is a general one. If someone has a hospital aquired infection (mrsa, c.dif) but they are in residential/nursing is it still a HAI??

If you know any of them i would be v.grateful x

wrinklytum · 28/08/2006 22:01

Not entirely sure about criteria for intermediate care (embarrassed to say.)Do you mean as to whether the IC team can take a patient post discharge thought the criteria was based upon their level of rehabilitation.Ive filled in loads of assessment forms but the sw ususally comes back saying the patient doesnt meet their criteria!!!Most of our patients are fairly young so I have in fact NEVER managed to get a pt discharged to IC as they seem extremely picky in what they will take and we end up going down the residential /Nursing home route most times or to hospice if they are v.poorly.There are discharge liason nurses based at chh they may be able to help with queries regarding this or try the sw department.
I think the DME age cut off is 75+ you are correct.
Technically I think a HAI is an umbrella term describing any infection picked up whilst an inpatient.Be it cdiff or MRSA or rotavirus etc etc
There is a terrible problem of MRSA in Nursing/Resi homes which is why hospitals are quite paranoid about screening on admission for MRSA if anyone comes from rh/nh care.(If you look on the intranet it will give you the screening policies which you can print off.)hth

Smurfgirl · 28/08/2006 22:25

Thanks wrinkltum

I am weriting about how older people are vulnerable and discussing IC so just wanted to make sure I was right in thinking that its not exclusively for old people. I have spent time with IC in AAU at HRI so know what they do.

Thanks for mentioning the screening for MRSA on admission v.helpful cos am disucssing how they are at high risk and so more vulnerable.

Essay is in for tomorrow (eeks!) so time to do more research really! But when I hand it in I have finished my 1st yr so will be v.happy.

Thanks x

Jobot · 29/08/2006 21:49

OP posts:
Smurfgirl · 31/08/2006 00:33

I wrote LOADS about IC was soo pleased to find stuff about it in the NSF for older people. So now I have finished my 1st year of being a student nurse!!

ncp give everyone a ticket I think, loads of student nurses have got them because their staff badges take ages to come through!

We had the best holiday ever it was fabulous, was quite sad to come back to rainy hull tbh. Thanks for asking x x

Jobot · 31/08/2006 22:00

no idea anyone from hull apart from St G was on mumsnet!! I'm in ferriby right now, at my folks for a month, used to live here and really miss the central library toddler sessions - they are great! Our new library ones are rubbish - I always want to tell them to write to Hull and get some tips.
just thought I'd pop in and say hi

Jobot · 31/08/2006 22:28

Smurfgirl · 03/09/2006 22:03

Hi Morocco

No idea where next placement is jobot am hoping for a medical ward at HRI, I love medical and HRI is MUCH easier for me to get to than CH. We shall see. Am being introduced to adult nursing next semester and have an assigment on care planning so am def hoping for a general type ward.

VQ2907 · 08/01/2007 14:40

Hi, I read about mumsnet in a magazine at the hairdressers and thought I should give it a go. I live in North Hull and have a 7 week old DD. Would like to hear from other mums in the area.

Lynn3 · 24/01/2007 10:47

Hi VQ2907. I've just joined Mumsnet. I'm not quite in Hull, but I live quite near, in one of those tiny villages where there are no shops or pubs. Hull is my nearest big town and I go there once or twice a week. I have got three kids, dd1 who's 13 on Sat, dd2 who's 2 1/2 and ds who's 1 1/2.

VQ2907 · 06/02/2007 10:03

Hi Lynn, Nice to hear from you. I'd love to live in one of the villages around Hull - i'd like my own smallholding but unfortunatley can't quite afford it just yet! I live in Kingswood and I think you manage to get to Hull more often than I do - but I do go to Asda etc at Kingswood most days. I'm going to Mothercare today to see if I can return some clothes that were bought for dd that she has never worn and are now too small for her. We will see!

J20BABY · 09/03/2007 20:41
