I have another 2 years of the course !
Will def look out for your birth announcement, am friends with student midwives as well so maybe one of my friends will help deliver your baby!

heavenis · 09/08/2006 21:04

Full time mum at the moment. I took a career break from Customs when I had ds1 and have never been back.
I don't know what I'm going to do when the youngest starts school full time. I haven't has the children today so I rearrange the living room, and moved a few things in the kitchen. Poor Dh thought he'd walked into the wrong house when he came home from work .
(that was long)

Jobot · 09/08/2006 21:07

I have to work as I earn more than Dh, he works two days a week and I work 3 long days, he has Dd when I work.

I pity your friends if they have to put up with me in labour smurfgirl, tell them to take the day off

OP posts:
heavenis · 09/08/2006 21:10

I thought about nursing but it's been along time since I did any studying I don't know if I'd be able to do it.
Jobot - that must be nice for your dd to have one of you looking after her.

Jobot · 09/08/2006 21:13

Course you could do it Heavenis, blimey if i can anyone can. Yeah dd loves having one of us about all the time we are lucky in that way one of the very few benefits of shifts!

When did you work for CPS heavenis?

I worked at Probation (New Cross St) as an admin clerk for a while and was a 'runner' between there and CPS with court papers.

1995 - 96

smurfgirl · 09/08/2006 21:14

Oooh heavenis its fab I love it I go into my 2nd year in Sept and can't wait. I quite like training in Hull as well have had very positive experiences so far. If you want to do it you should go for it!

Jobot · 09/08/2006 21:16

Are you working at the min StG?

OP posts:
heavenis · 09/08/2006 21:18

Must have worked CPS 93-94

SaintGeorge · 09/08/2006 21:29

Not at the moment Jobot.

Finished my last f/t job in March 2002 so that I was home with the kids. Youngest now at f/t school but I really need to find something around school hours.

Starting (hopefully) in Sep as Lunchtime Supervisor at the kids school, just to get me back into the mindset for working out of the home again.

heavenis · 09/08/2006 21:31

Smurfgirl Had you been out of "education" long before you went into nursing. It must have been 1989 since I've done anything which requires you to sit exams.

heavenis · 09/08/2006 21:32

Can you tell the memory is going all this it "it must be" since x y z. Lol

Jobot · 09/08/2006 21:33

maybe I'm a bad mum but I actually missed working when i was off with dd love her lots but need work to keep me sane (and pay the bills)

OP posts:
heavenis · 09/08/2006 21:34

Your not a bad mum, both my sisters work and they have 2 children each, horses for courses.

smurfgirl · 09/08/2006 21:34

I went into it straight after doing a degree heavenis I am 22

Loads of women on the course have not been in education recently though, a lot did the access course I know Hull college offers it apparently its v.good preperation for the course. If you have a recent job that was revelvant they might consider you anyway all depends really.

Jobot · 09/08/2006 21:38

thanks heavenis, sometimes the mature student nurses I have mentored have been better than the younger ones, no offence tho smurfgirl

OP posts:
smurfgirl · 09/08/2006 21:40

A lot of the students straight out of college are not v.dedicated and drop out. I was a care assistant before I started and that definately helped.

boringingly - have you seen the new cap document jobot? found it quite challenging to fill in on my last placement.

Jobot · 09/08/2006 21:43

New cap doc was erm challenging shall we say! seemed very intense, I think it should be more geared to practical skills thats what placement is for in my opinion. You can do all the pyscho social stuff at uni.
