hi everybody. dh starting a new job in Milton Keynes next week. leaving in London at the moment and think we'll probably need to move but dont' know when yet. dh talking about 6 to 9 months but quite keen to move as soon as job is "secure" ie 3 months. i think that driving 3 hours everyday for work is ridiculous and too much... I dont know your area at all and am thinking at starting looking more closely at the town and surrounding villages etc so that i can present it to dh to prove my point and convince him it is for the best to move. can you shade some light on the best areas, things to do for kids and family dd is 2.5 ; are there many french out there?! dd is half french so it would be nice if we could see some french speakers too. checked on the net and saw a village called buckingham? sounded good?! am looking at renting 3/4 bedrooms with garden, is poss garage. do you know how much a monthly rental would be approx? i understand it is cheaper than london? thanks a million for all your advice.

Hi there, i might be a little late to reply to your thread but I'm in a village around Milton Keynes called Great Brickhill and could give you any local info your require. My husband is from Buckingham, its a traditional market town and we married in the town hall there, it is very beautiful and not too expensive. Rent wise, a three bed house in mk is around 700-800 a month, slightly cheaper in buckingham and maybe slightly more expensive in the surrounding villages. Not sure about french connections, but its very cultural around here and im sure there would be plently of suitable places to take your daughter, there is something for everyone here. if you see my message let me know how you get on! Just saying Hi as I'm near MK too (Leighton Buzzard). It's a nice area with quite a bit to do with children though I find you do need a car to make the most of it.
