Hi Youngster - are you new to MN? There are a few of us in your area or close by who meet up from time to time. I'm not in St Albans but usually go to meets there. Are you looking for daytime or evening meets? What DCs do you have? I have one DD who is 4 1/2 months old.

anorak · 22/06/2006 09:40

I will.

edam · 22/06/2006 09:42

me too! have put my name down for a couple in the past but once the date has been firmed up it's always been a day I can't do sadly so will be very pleased if there's another one coming up.

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/06/2006 10:14

Hi Anorak - this is Tabs in case you didn't know about my name change!

anorak · 22/06/2006 11:29

Hi tabs - I guess your new name tells me how you're doing!

do you fancy a meet-up?

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/06/2006 13:47

Always up for a meet up Anorak, but only daytimes now, as DD won't drink from a bottle, so I can't leave her!

Youngster · 23/06/2006 17:50

This may be a totally stupid question but what is it like to go to a meet up with total strangers? Do you always like each other, get on, have similar backgrounds?

Nah - everyone I've met is really miserable, but I go anyway because I have nothing better to do

anorak · 24/06/2006 08:47

It's amazing how well mumsnetters do get on, Youngster. I've met probably in the region of 100 over the years and there have only been one or two I didn't like. And no one will get their names out of me

Youngster · 24/06/2006 10:15

Hi Anorak, Wow, how many years has MN been going, I've only just discovered it. What age are your children, my are 7 and 11 so I'm not exactly a NEW mum. First discovered this sight when I started pulling my hair out with DD and attitude, hormones etc.

I think it's been going for about 6 years. I've been here for 3, but I can't imagine not having mn now.

My dds are 16 and 14 and ds is 5. We have a meet-up occasionally in the St A/Watford/Barnet/Enfield areas normally for a meal in the evening and the local mums round here are very very nice, some of us know each other quite well now. We always enjoy meeting new faces. Cantsleepwontsleep and I met at a St Albans meet-up where we were the only ones who could make it and we had a great evening.

We normally have a day meet-up at Willows Farm during the summer holidays too, which has been great fun.

I got all excited about this and then remembered that it's the wrong St Albans for me!

Youngster - just spotted another post where you say you live in Welwyn. We are having a meet up in Stevenage this Friday lunchtime if you fancy it. There's a separate thread in meet ups if you do.
