Anyone fancy a Cheltenham meet-up?

Just been talking to a few MNers today about a meetup (you know who you are!). Would anyone fancy a few drinks and a meal one night in Cheltenham, and afterwards dancing round our handbags in the Prom Club?

(I am joking about the Prom Club Grin)

I'm easy about where we go. I'm a bit excited now.

Where did we say we would go again?

Agree will have to book it.

Depends if we want to be at montpellier end, or dahn the lower end.

What about zizzi? I know it's nothing special but he building is really lovely. Or morans on Bath Rd or one of the Indians (has anyone been to Shazam next to Rotunda?). I don't know the chinese in Tivoli but that would be good, and where is Vinings?

Or lower end yes love Bar and Wok. Or Thai Emerald. Jamies Italian is cheap and cheerful (and nice cocktails).

I don't mind though - honestly will go with what everyone else wants. I eat anything except broad beans Grin

I'm happy anywhere really... I will bow to the judgement of you lot - who have far better social lives than me (Most of the places mentioned I've walked past, but never been in!)

Not fussed either I eat everything. We will have to make a decision though. I've not been to Jamie's yet (apart from drunk one night ti see jamie Blush so happy to try that.

I ate in Copa the other lunchtime and it was nice (cheap) and good atmosphere. No idea what it is like at night though

Although I like Bath road and Morans especially I always feel a bit marooned there after eating as it is a hefty walk to town in heels.

The Indian on Montpelier roundabout I would avoid as I had a bad meal there, thought it was pricey for what it was and my friend was really ill after eater there.

Never been to Jamie's.......they used to have a waiting list
Copa is alright in evening early on, not eaten there for years.
Good central position with both of those. Happy with either.

I love Bar and Wok, bit of a walk after but not far from lower high street to get to better bars and clubs etc.

Zizzis is meant to be good, DH eaten there though not me.

Vinings pub is up by the top end of town (near where Boom, Bentleys, Hogshead, Fez Club etc all used to be.....no idea whats up there now but I used to live round the corner!)

Right: think we should vote on style of food we would prefer and then make a decision. So what's your fave out of:

Chinese/Noodles
Thai
Indian
Italian
Pub grub

I don't mind about food, but would like to put in a request for non-expensive if you don't mind, please not Zizzis Blush

It looks like there will be about 8-10 of us, so we'll need a large table, we just want to sit and natter (and drink) don't we? The Vinings is near some other nice pubs, the Swan & Strand, but anywhere will be nice, it'll be good to go somewhere new as well.

Copa is nice too, big round tables and nice food. Dangerously close to 21 Club though...

I ate in the pub next to the Swan last week, they do lovely Thai food and it was really cheap. Can't think of its name though. It's the one with green tiles on the outside

I know the one yes can't think of the name though.
pat I agree about tracking in heels. Heels are not suitable for short walks from pub to pub.

On the corner Dolly? That's the Vinings, I've not eaten there, just been for a pint, but heard it's nice.

There is the big sleep hotel in town it's cheap and no need for taxis to get there.
I'm up for cheap ish food I'd rather spend my money on drinks lol

Oh yes I know what you mean now about Vine - up the top bit of town by St James car park. I went there years ago - really nice Thai food. I was all confused because there is a Vinings restaurant in Gloucester which is a bit grim.

Looks very mice.

Shall I book that? For what - 8pm?

The Travelodge in Cheltenham is miles away - it's on the golden valley roundabout.

Holiday Inn Express is by the Brewery. And Big Sleep is very central - just looked and it's 40 quid for a twin.
