Try teething powders. you can get them from Lloyds chemist and they are magic!

Oh yes teething, almost forgot, we used to give ds corn on the cob to munch on - great for the gums and budding teeth, and good becaues he couldn't chew off big bits and choke, he really enjoyed them and dd (almost 11mths) can kill a cob in 2 mins flat
