Next meet up, Tuesday 4th September.
During the day, either Botanic Gardens in Durham or the Slug and Fiddle near the Gala Theatre in Durham City centre.

Now for some random chat.
DS sang a song about bolognaise today. And DD walked some more. But still prefers crawling and using my nipples as handholds on Mount Starbuck.

Trifle, I keep pretending that I'm young and carefree. Then I realise that I still have to get up for them in the morning...

I just want to act totally irresponsibly occasionally. Without the hangover consequences naturally.

The first week of nursery is always the worst. Then you realise that you can go to the toilet on your own and decide that nursery is greatGrin

Indith · 26/02/2013 21:39

living on the edge trifle Grin sure he will settle in to nursery Smile

spiggy dh is away on the 23rd having his weekend lycra clad jolly. he said something about a last chance before I start my degree Hmm I have various dates to coordinate. must sit with husband and calendar. he is washing up now though so shall not disturb him Grin

OoohTrifle · 26/02/2013 22:19

Well trained Indith, well trained. The reason we Luddites don't have a dishwasher is because we have DH. He is much better at washing up than I am, so who am I to deny him the pleasure? Smile

DH and I went away for a jolly (sans enfants) the other weekend and we were still in bed by 10.30 having decided that 3 cocktails each was more than living on the edge and we might need an alka seltzer in the morning...

Indith · 27/02/2013 08:36

3 cocktails would have me under the table!

Indith · 27/02/2013 09:26

Spiggy on the basis that there is nothing down in the calendar I can do sat 9th and 16th for shopping. Can't do sundays due to rugby. After that we are into apri!

Anyone else welcome to child free shop too of course! We plan on shopping as fast as humanly possible and having lunch as slowly as possible while not sharing with a small child and finishing sentences without having to pause to say "mummy is talking".

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 27/02/2013 11:59

9th then?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 27/02/2013 13:34

Hmmm child free shopping and lunch, sounds tempting!
Where were you thinking of going?

OP posts:
Indith · 27/02/2013 13:56

Newcastle I assume, I don't know, is anywhere else good to shop? Though the thought of escaping to York for the day is rather tempting. There is the Metro but that is hell on earth isn't it? Newcastle has better places for lunch plus big department stores.

To be honest I have no idea what to buy, anyone who comes is really going to have to beat me around the head. I have 2 pairs of jeans which fall down and 3 wool mix tops for layering with some every bobbly jumpers. Seriously, that is what I have. Has served me quite well all winter but could get sweaty now!

I need to come home with one of those capsule wardrobe doodahs the style and beauty lot go on about. 2 pairs work type trousers, 3 each ish of long and short sleeved tops, some jumpers, pref a nice smart coat, jeans that fit and maybe a couple of easy to throw on dresses/tunics and leggings.

LillethTheCat · 27/02/2013 14:04

Newcastle shopping sounds like a fab idea. Although Im a bit short of money ATM, but I may just join you for a child-free shopathon and lunch one day in the future.

Indith · 27/02/2013 14:10

Oh I like this I'll need skinny jeans though.....

Lillith just come anyway as chief beater about the head to make me buy stuff Grin. That was supposed to be Spiggy's job but from her description of her shopping habits I fear she may be as bad as me.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 27/02/2013 14:20

I am a hopeless shopper. I have no clue about style and beauty - as you should all know by now!

I'll be "oh just buy it and we can go eat!"

I'll wait and see what day you decide on, then talk to DH. Think it might be easier for me to go by train.

OP posts:
LillethTheCat · 27/02/2013 15:08

I have no clue either Kara DH is better at it than me.

Indith - Not this time (when I add up transport and meal costs I really can't afford it - I would have been ok if we hadn't had to buy oil this month), but definately up for it in the future. Say in June so I can save up a bit?

As much as I love my kids it is lovely to be able to do stuff without having to run after them all the time.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 27/02/2013 17:19

Hmm, I have some rail vouchers to use up so could do York....

Newcastle easy for me but can do hell on earth metro if you want to.

How about a rule that we have to try 2 things on per shop? Have had some success recently by trying things on that I wouldn't usually. I'm not brave enough to venture onto a style and beauty thread to ask advice there Grin

Indith · 27/02/2013 17:26

That sounds like a good idea Spiggy. I tried asking on S&B once, their version of "budget" is still at least double my version!

Newcastle probably still best really. Not metro as I want to have a nice day.

Another time then Lilleth, Oil prices are horrible.

juneybean · 27/02/2013 17:51

Oooh this sounds fun, I wear what I like so I can tell you what looks and my face will definitely say when I don't like it Grin

LeggyBlondeNE · 28/02/2013 09:25

I am an excellent shopping companion ... But not exactly child-free ATM!

We should have cake before the 9th and then look at magazines while playing pass-the-baby... Wink

Indith · 28/02/2013 12:17

Good plan Leggy! Although you know tiny babies don't count on teh child free stakes. The ones we want to avoid are the food stealing, toilet needing, "I'm booooored mummy!" big ones Grin.

Sadly, I told dh I was shopping on the 9th and his face fell and he said "but I'm rowing, it is York head race."

WELL PUT IT ON THE SODDING CALENDAR SO I KNOW YOU FOOL!

Erm, 16th?

LeggyBlondeNE · 28/02/2013 16:34

He may not steal food or need the toilet but he does a mean run in FEED-ME-NOW-WOMAN crying and disruption of other activities! Unless I can work out the Close feeding carry...!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/03/2013 07:49

Is it definitely the 9th? I can't do the 9th :(
We are having a meetup on Weds 6th at Adventure Point next week, in Darlo, just to remind everyone!
10am!

OP posts:
Indith · 01/03/2013 08:22

I can't do 9th. Bloody dh. He has no idea what that paper thing with dates on is for. I am supposed to just know all his race dates by magic,

SPBInDisguise · 01/03/2013 08:23

I can't do any of these :( but just wanted to say hi to everyone :o

SPBInDisguise · 01/03/2013 08:25

Indith, my DH is the opposite. If I suggest going for a little walk on a Saturday afternoon he asks "is it in the calendar?"

Indith · 01/03/2013 09:35

Then clearly SPB we need to get a polar bear friendly meet on your calendar :) One that isn't just an SPB and Indith freeze in the park meet up.

Golden we think the next release for body balance will be the 11th April, we have 5 weeks left of this release, she said it is always after Easter.

CremeEggThief · 01/03/2013 12:47

Hi, just found you all. This fell off my TIO when I was in Ireland last week. Wrt shopping, I might join you if it's the 16th :).

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/03/2013 14:10

Aww SPB :(

Leggy if you did come, I am sure that we all could scare up a chair for you wherever we are, if squish needs boob.
Did I tell you I walked around Toys R Us feeding DD? No sling either. Bloody arms ached. Twas funny seeing sales bloke doing a double take Grin
