Next meet up, Tuesday 4th September.
During the day, either Botanic Gardens in Durham or the Slug and Fiddle near the Gala Theatre in Durham City centre.

Now for some random chat.
DS sang a song about bolognaise today. And DD walked some more. But still prefers crawling and using my nipples as handholds on Mount Starbuck.

I want another. NOW. V is sleeping through again so am full of the joys of parenthood. NOW!

Just have to persuade dh....

Indith · 08/01/2013 11:02

I've said it before, I just want that moment again when you scoop up your slippery newborn and gaze at his perfection and sniff his damp, bloody hair.

I know what it is. Ds2 has decided that Daddy is the cure for all the problems in the world rather than mummy and milk. Plus he has reduced feeds a lot so doesn't feed much in the day. Both of those are pretty good things really and it means he should be fine without milk in the day with the CM but not having a small thing totally reliant on me is odd.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 08/01/2013 11:15

Oh yes, and getting to know an entirely new person- how they look like other members of the family, how they are they are just themselves...

Damn it. I shouldn't be talking to you. you are having a bad influence on me.

Dd and ds2 just covered themselves in a bottle of glycerine so I stuck them in the shower. They've been in there for half an hour. How long do you think I can reasonably leave them there? I'm enjoying the peace and get to play on the internet. I do love this new phone- makes childcare much more fun Grin

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 09/01/2013 08:42

Sign in nursery this morning to say there was a case of chicken pox. It might be the virus that ds2 had at Christmas being confused with the pox or it might be the real deal but it rules us out of the 21at as T would be in incubation period and I don't want to infect leggySad

Indith · 09/01/2013 10:48

:(

LeggyBlondeNE · 09/01/2013 10:54

Oh I've had chicken pox. And got re-exposed when T had is last Easter without any problems (although I wasn't preggers then). Or does being exposed less than (potentially) a couple of weeks pre-birth mean baby could get it at birth?

I get confused by the perinatal disease exposure stuff.

LeggyBlondeNE · 09/01/2013 11:00

Just checked - NHS say it's extremely unlikely I could get it, and patient.uk says if I were to get it 7 days either side of birth, baby would need an injection. Nothing on baby needing injection due to exposure when I'm already immune.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 09/01/2013 13:03

Oh that is good news.

I am seriously Envy at Spiggy's DS2 not needing boob to go back to bed.
I need to suck it up and make a concerted effort to encourage DD to stay in her cot instead of bringing her into bed with me as she just nurses all night.
Plus I am struggling to get her to sleep before 8pm. This child does not need sleep!
It's just when she is not in bed with me I miss her :( But I wouldn't miss her if I was asleep...

Think I'll still err on the side of caution and stay away on the 21st. I wouldn't want the responsibility of not infecting people- not just leggy but anyone else that went or we came into contact with on the way. I spent too much time on neurology wards with my brother as a child so prefer to be over cautious.

Bet its not the pox after all now.Sad

Indith · 11/01/2013 07:54

So if we played with a child on Friday who came out in spots on Tuesday what are our chances?

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 11/01/2013 08:51

They are most infectious just before the spots come out so I'd be on pox watch. think incubation is up to 21 days. T showing no sign despite the warning at nursery. Its the waiting that's worst.Grin Guaranteed to happen in Feb when I'm acting up for the boss and getting paid extra!

Indith · 11/01/2013 12:16

Hmmm most websites say 3 days before spots so we are borderline. It would be good to get it done before the degree starts as pox is the big miss a whole week at least one. On the other hand he has been showing some signs of settling at night (sometimes does more than one sleep cycle at once) so I don't want to disturb that!

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 11/01/2013 18:57

Hope w had a lovely day and you've got used to the idea of having a 6 year old. I get to stay in denial for another 10 daysGrin

Indith · 16/01/2013 09:59

grump grump grump grump grump. Nothing is right in the world today for ds2. My money is on tooth number 8 since number 7 popped up a few days ago and they usually come in pairs.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 16/01/2013 11:23

Poor A and poor Indith. Hope it comes through quickly and you have a plentiful supply of cake to keep you going.

I have an actual day off tomorrow. With dh. And the children are at school and nursery. We are celebrating 10 years since I went back to his after a rather drunken night out and never quite made it homeBlush. 10 years! I feel old.

Indith · 16/01/2013 11:26

Grin have a good day!

the grump is asleep on me. long may it last.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 16/01/2013 11:32

What did our mothers do when there were no magic internet phones?

VikingLady · 16/01/2013 15:56

I believe they had a glass of medically-recommended Mackesons and did CIO.

Or mine did, so she tells me. I feel so loved.....

Indith · 16/01/2013 16:38

I need a medicinal glass of gin.

Dd started screaming on teh way home form school because I said she couldn't have a chocolate biscuit when we got home. She has just stopped screaming.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 16/01/2013 17:16

I need medicinal gin too. Some complete IDIOT neglected to tell me a particularly important piece of information that I need to do my job and would have totally changed the way I dealt with something. And I can't even tell him what a Fuckwit I think he is because he's senior management. So I have to settle for ranting to people who won't dob me in.Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry can you tell I'm very cross?

Indith · 16/01/2013 17:36
spiffysquiffyspiggy · 16/01/2013 18:37

I read the horse jokes thread on the way home which cheered me up slightly. But I'm still fuming. I'm being kept away from my email so I can't give him a piece of my mind.Grin

Hope the dcs are on their way to bed and you get a nice peaceful evening to make up for the screaming Indith.

Indith · 16/01/2013 19:34

peaceful evening? ds2 has not yet mastered the art of sleeping in the evening.

Dh at the rowing club. Again. I have a million things to do and a baby hanging off my nipple.

I want evenings back! I need evenings. If I could spend just 20 mins after putting the dcs to bed doing a few chores I could stay on top of the house I know I could. I've done it when dh had a week where he didn't row. But dh is out every evening of the week apart from Thursday when I'm out at Body Balance so instead I spend all weekend cleaning.

Emandlu · 16/01/2013 19:36

Hello, Mind if I join in?

I'm moving to Durham at the weekend (from Teesside but I'd never seen this thread before to say hello).
Are there many mumsnetters in the area?

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 16/01/2013 19:42

Fecking bastard rowing. Is as bad as bastard football. (I may have had a drink so my language has got even worse than normal)

It does make such a difference when you have evenings to yourself. I'd be tempted to break into the boat shed and put a hole in the boat.Grin
