Next meet up, Tuesday 4th September.
During the day, either Botanic Gardens in Durham or the Slug and Fiddle near the Gala Theatre in Durham City centre.

Now for some random chat.
DS sang a song about bolognaise today. And DD walked some more. But still prefers crawling and using my nipples as handholds on Mount Starbuck.

Indith, just saw your comment on the Ptolemy thread. I luffs you. Grin

Indith · 15/12/2012 17:12

Well it is ace!

ishchel · 16/12/2012 14:39

DD1, bless her cotton socks, wants a diary for writing in and a toy guinea pig for Christmas.

Any recommendations? I have barely started shopping for presents.

Zhu Zhu pets any good? Will WHSmith or supermarket stock diary these days?

ishchel · 16/12/2012 14:43

is there something entertaining going on on Ptolemy's 'thread' that I ought to know about? Grin

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 16/12/2012 16:27

Nah, I'm just a pretentious mother who hates her child and is sentencing him to a lifetime of bullying and being compared to an infectious disease.

Hell, a girl has to have some fun. I thought the whole point of becoming a mother is to embarrass and mentally scar your children. Grin

VikingLady · 16/12/2012 18:02

Infectious disease?

DD has a pretty standard name, if a little Victorian, and even THAT is enough to pee off someone. Honestly. People. Kids need something to have therapy about when they are older. What else will they talk about?

Yours is a pretty fab name though.

Indith · 16/12/2012 19:31

Viking I adore your dd's name, it is everything a name should be.

I don't understand names. My dcs have normal, boring ones yet according to MN

ds1- boring, there are millions of them, half of them will be little shits and the name will become a kevin type.

dd- horrible, stuffy old lady and her nickname is also too bloody common and council estate Hmm. Oh and making her nickname from her name is pretentious Grin.

ds2- an old man name that should not be making a comeback.

Ish I have no idea, sorry! except if you can get to paperchase they will have lovely diaries.

I have to wrap, buy edibles for stockings and find some non chrismas wrapping paper for dd because I forgot to get some early. Also have to get nurse to squeeze dd and ds2 in who are still not well at all and far from shifting seem to be getting worse. Merry Christmas Hmm.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 17/12/2012 14:07

I scan read your post, Indith and read "edible stockings" and thought "kinky!" Grin

I only know of one child with the same name as your DS1 so I doubt it is that common, it is a very strong, old name!
As for DS3, I know of a little boy same age as my DD with the same name so think it is becoming popular again (I know a few others of differing ages). I think the names you have picked are great, are all very royal Grin Do you have ambitions to the monarchy Wink
I love DD's NN, I seriously considered it for my DD but my SIL also has that name.

And I must admit I was a bit Hmm at Ptolemy for your DS2 Spiggy Blush but it has really grown on me - I really like it now. And it is miles better than flipping Hashtag and Maddison and Chardonney (yep spelt with two 's'!). It is a proper name after all!

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 17/12/2012 14:22

I don't think you were the only one Kara and I doubt very much if you'll be the last. Grin

It is all DH's fault, he refused to compromise on Barnabas which is what I wanted. DS2 very definitely a Tolly now though. And it is very cute when all the babies in his room at nursery shout his name when he goes in.

Indith · 17/12/2012 14:36

I love the more "unusual" names but dh doesn't but we both love classic, English (or considered English) names so that's what we ended up with. I think the children wear them well. We attempted to steer clear of Royalty with ds2, current royalty anyway!

I like yours Kara, you've managed to get names that nobody can turn their nose up at but that are not that common either.

Indith · 17/12/2012 14:37

Edible stockings sound like they could be fun but would probably need ds2 to actually elave me alone for more than 30 seconds at a time Grin.

FivesGoldNorks · 17/12/2012 14:45

I'm sure you could sscoff them while feeding

Bollocks. Child #3 has some suspicious spots. I haven't seen them but DH is thinking chicken pox.

Kara, Viking, hopefully it is 1) not chicken pox 2) too long since we had cake to be concerning but wanted to let you know just in case. Kara, could you let M know? The spots only came on today so peak infectiousness likely to be the weekend, not last Tues.

Aaaaaaarrrrrrgggggghhh.

Indith · 17/12/2012 16:05

On the bright side he should be crusted over by christmas.

Tesco just came early, very happy. Now just have to simultaneously take ds2 to the Dr and pick ds1 up from school. I'm hoping they are late back from the theatre Grin.

I do have a friend on standby just in case.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 17/12/2012 18:39

Thank you indith Smile

Argghhhh, fingers crossed it is not!
DD has been poorly but it was a cold that has gotten worse, you was actually properly unwell on Friday for the first time ever!
She is okay now, just coughing lots.
Although I am now panicing as she did have a spot on her groin that looked like a small blister, spotted it two days ago and have been treating it with Bepanthen - I just assumed it was a blocked skin gland! It has nearly healed now. I didn't see any other spots any where else, when I checked her over.

Just take these tablets, dissolve them in water and get your breast fed doesn't see the point of cups when boobs exist baby to drink it. Oh and it tastes horrible.

Gee thanks!

Baby on steroids with viral induced wheeze.

VikingLady · 17/12/2012 21:20

Oh no!

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 18/12/2012 10:33

Hmmm. Not sure. They look pox like but he has fewer spots than yesterday which definitely isn't how chicken pox works so we might just have a random virus. Will monitor for today and keep you updated. Kara, C wasn't at the Slug so it would be very unlikely to have got her if it is cp.

Indith, poor A. Hope he feels better soon.

DH likes Horatio. And Fox. And people think I am the mad eccentric one.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 18/12/2012 16:14

Woohoo!!
I will be starting the BfN Breastfeeding Supporter course in January Grin
It's being funded by our local NHS Trust.

OP posts:
Indith · 18/12/2012 16:14

that's great!

VikingLady · 19/12/2012 08:38

Kara that's good - especially your trust funding it!

Spiggy* Fox? People would think it was after Mulder (X Files). Sorry. Although if you'd actually picked it I would fake liking it, or at least keep quiet about it!

Indith · 19/12/2012 09:08

Just had a message from Spiggy, spots are gone with no scabbing so definitely not the pox. :)
