Next meet up, Tuesday 4th September.
During the day, either Botanic Gardens in Durham or the Slug and Fiddle near the Gala Theatre in Durham City centre.

Now for some random chat.
DS sang a song about bolognaise today. And DD walked some more. But still prefers crawling and using my nipples as handholds on Mount Starbuck.

Indith - I have a good one for you today to make you feel better about forgetting to get DD from school.

Dropped DS off at school, DD in the buggy (forgot to put the Boba back in the car). Can't take DD in the class room so parked her outside the door and took DS in.
Came out and walked out the lower school gate into the main school. Realised something was missing.
Went back through the gate to see DD still sat in the buggy by the door looking very confused as to why I walked off without her.
Oops.

Grin At one stage when things were particularly manic I had to have a list of what I was doing, when I was doing it and how many children I was expected to have with me at any one time.

I'm in London on 22nd Jan but would be free on 21st (Monday). How does that work for people?

Indith · 12/12/2012 14:04

You are expecting me to know what I'm doing in January? Next week is hard enough!

Grin kara.

So my parents decided to come up so I didn't have to wrestle children out after bedtime. This is a VERY good thing as ds2 and dd are poorly poorly snotty coughing pictures of ping pong ball sized gland misery refuses to believe ds2 might be like his sister in the old gland and tonsil department. So they went to ds1's nativity and I stayed home with the screamers. Except I didn't read the letter properly and didn't send him in costume so he had to do a quick change in church. They looked after dd all night, she was up all night pretty much and I dealt with ds2 who was also up all night screaming lots. Dd's nativity this morning where she sat and joined in a bit, flashed her pants lots, rubbed her eyes several times, yawned, did a few of the actions, beamed at the audiance, wiped her nose on the sleeve of her costume and inspected it and at one point that she found rather funny giggled and yelled out "that's funny!" at full volume in her lovely, husky crackly voice she has at the moment. Comedy gold.

Sadly parents have gone now so I'm on my own tonight with them . I got them to leave the sofa bed out so we can all sleep together, it has useful corners to stash ds2 in where he can't fall out. I think I may strike early with the ibuprofen for dd at least, that should ensure a couple of hours sleep form her.......

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/12/2012 14:04

I shall keep that date in mind :)

LOL @ DD's performance! I can just picture her doing it, too.
Hooray for your parents, hopefully the DCs will all sleep better tonight.

Spiggy - year, let's celebrate my first day off work with cake! Big slices of 38-weeks preggers cake!

Indith - sounds rubbish. Good luck tonight.

EVeryone - am having potty training residual problems re bedtime and no one is helping me! Any advice? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/potty_training/1634779-Using-potty-as-a-get-out-of-bed-free-card

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 12/12/2012 19:49

Hope the little blighters darlings are behaving themselves tonight Indith. D's nativity sounded great Grin Got DS1's christmas play tomorrow. What school didn't tell us was that he's also appearing in the Y2 concert playing his violin at 2pm. We only booked the morning off work for the play so can't go. Sad Am bloody sick of them only telling us stuff at the last minute, I can't just drop things and take the day off with no notice. Even if it had been a week I could have rearranged things, as it is I have meetings all afternoon and no-one I can delegate them to. bastards.

Leggy, I'm sure we can do BIG slices of cake. With a side order of raspberry leaf tea?

Indith · 12/12/2012 19:53

:(

OoohTrifle · 12/12/2012 21:51

I'd rather eat cake than sing "Three little men in a flying saucer" at Baby Boppers on a Monday, so I'll pencil it in. To add insult to endless snot and dribbling yesterday, Darlo's finest broke into our garage in the afternoon (in the 2hrs I was out) and stole one of our bikes but left wrapped presents, cordless drill etc. I didn't originally have a new garage door on my Santa list this year. Barstewards...

KaraStarbuckThrace · 13/12/2012 07:43

OH bugger, trifle :(

Spiggy I am Angry and Sad on your behalf. That is really crap of the school :(

BTW - Trifle, you live in Darlo? I am only down the road from you in Stockton. We should meet up for Teesside cake too!

OP posts:
Indith · 13/12/2012 12:26

Oh no Trifle. Wankers. Big hairy ones at that.

I've not heard anyone say Barstewards in years Grin.

VikingLady · 13/12/2012 17:06

Sorry to hear about your spot of trouble Trifle - you make the fourth person I "know" who has been hit this week. But we have five little men in our flying saucer (library rhyme time), so it could be worse.... (light-hearted - not minimising your burglary!)

My dad used to say Barstewards. Makes me giggle Xmas Grin

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 14/12/2012 10:57

What utter bastards Trifle. Hope the new garage door not too expensive.

When Viking and I lived together we got burgled and our flatmate was calming us all down, reassuring us that at least no-one got hurt etc etc

Til she spotted that they had stolen her gin. The memory of her screaming "Those fucking bastards have stolen my gin. MY GIN! I'm going to hunt them to the ends of the earth and turn their bollocks into earrings" still makes me laugh. Grin

Indith · 14/12/2012 11:33

I'd be pissed off if someone stole my gin too Grin.

The car is in the garage for service and MOT. Think healthy car thoughts please.

babsmam · 14/12/2012 11:38

I'm a lurker on this thread but felt I had to post as a fellow Darlo person who, touch wood, has not been visited by the finest in the town but k ows a few who have.

Anyhow Trifle if you need anything shout.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 14/12/2012 12:02

Hello babsmam Smile, stop lurking and join in.

Fingers crossed for you Indith. £340 ours cost in the end

KaraStarbuckThrace · 14/12/2012 13:07

Deffo need a Teesside meet up!

OP posts:
Indith · 14/12/2012 17:11

Oh dear, dh has gone to fetch the car. I think it is on its last legs. There was talk on the phone of "would be more expensive than buying a second hand engine"

VikingLady · 14/12/2012 18:28

It wasn't just the gin - the poo-heads had drunk our Baileys and Tia Maria whilst keeping watch at the window!

Can you tell I am trying to clean up my language?

I'm glad they left the presents though, Trifle

OoohTrifle · 14/12/2012 20:07

Aw, thanks. I have suddenly become a right net curtain twitcher and we don't even have nets. The sight of my gurning face at the window should scare them off or perhaps, draw crowds...

How's the car Indith? Does it need putting down? Really hope not. Would you like a gin? God, I love gin. Much more than sambucca esp as you can drink it all night and not suffer any 3rd degree burns/singed eyebrows. Plus, I'm sure bottles of sambucca have never featured in a crime watch list of solen property.

BTW Viking, 5 little men? You can never get that extra minute back! Xmas Wink

OoohTrifle · 14/12/2012 20:11

I think a Teesside meet up sounds lovely. Let's all lurk together over cake!

Indith · 15/12/2012 09:15

Trifle I love you already. Gin is amazing.

The car cost a couple of hundred but needs 4 new tyres too. The new second hand engine thing is one of those toss ups, do we don't we. It would cost around 1k which is a lot but potentially give us a couple more years and be better than any car we could buy for the same amount. I think we are standing by our decision to run it til it goes bang and hope the bang happens in a nice convenient location!

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 15/12/2012 13:45

Oh crap Indith. Bloody cars.

Trifle, I get the feeling you are going to fit right in on this thread. Grin

I am in serious danger of developing a social life Shock. After cocktails and curry with you lot and the works night out last Friday, I am off out AGAIN on Monday night. Have to be restrained this time though as I have the dcs Tues and I don't fancy that with a hangover. I've decided I don't want another baby. I'm enjoying this far too much Grin.
