o.k. I'm bored at work so thought I'll start another threat trying to organise gettogethers :)

With or without kids... I'm game

The latest Ealing thread was considering a zoo visit of some sort when it gets a bit warmer... and now it's gone and gotten colder!

But wait! It gets better!

Then when ds & I were heading to dh's hospital this morning, the trains were @#$%! up because some loser threw him/her/itself in front of a train in Mortlake this morning. (we don't have a car) Which I found out after getting the tickets and arriving at the platform, naturally. But we did eventually get there to visit and bring him some shaving gear and a fruit smoothie and books to read etc. He's doing much better. Getting the antibiotics IV in the hospital works faster than taking pills at home, and extra oxygen is helping him get his strength back faster. (relatively speaking)
But it's actually possible that dh will be back by Tues. and life might be nearly back to normal, fingers crossed. (i.e. maybe back to the ordinary 'man flu' situation)
Have to wait and see, though. It really has been amazing and scary how fast a nasty infection (this one was resistant to the first 2 antibiotics the doctors tried) can get on top of one. No wonder people lose so much strength, and no wonder the oldy-time fear of "you'll catch pneumonia!" (my grandmother believed that Going Outside with hair still wet from washing meant Instant Death, f'r instance; maybe I should've posted that on the "family sayings" thread that was up recently)
-- But nonetheless, it still does kill people even today even if you do get to a hospital. Yikes.

Sorry about venting a bit, and sorry about hijacking the thread with my blather (and sorry about my flippant tone, but it's one of my ways of dealing with all this), but I wanted to let everyone know that I do want to get out with ds and meet up with some playmates (the poor kid has been more isolated than I'd like for a while, due to our moving etc. (and the short days and leaden skies of the winter in this part of the world) -- and then a few weeks ago, he had the coughing virus too, but very fortunately didn't get ill like dh).

So how is everyone else's weekend going? Grin

MrsBigD · 26/03/2006 07:22

glad to hear your dh is getting better :)

trains... dont' get us started... dh had an awful week with them. He had a course in Guildford which is a bit of a treck anhow but trains were so cr*p that he ususally ended up getting there late, no matter how early he left. considering fares are going up every year one wonders why.

Oh Yanks, how dreadful. I your DH is better soon, and you can get back to normal. The wether is looking up (can't do much esles really), so soon we can all get together for the kids to run around. Are you still coming on 06 April?

MrsRecycle · 27/03/2006 12:52

Yanks - so sorry to hear about dh. DD1 was hospitalised with it in February and it's really scary isn't it? They did tell me her coughing would get worse before getting better but TBH it never materialised and the strong antibiotics did their trick. She was off school for 3 weeks though. She's back to normal now but does seem suseptical to any infection around so we're trying to build her immunity up - hard when keeps on hiding her vitamins/fruit around the house instead of eating them!

MrsRecycle · 27/03/2006 19:33

Uwila - you can have my drink as well - sorry you're having a crap day - I had one of those weeks last week but the tide seems to have turned this week.

SnowdropsInTheSpring · 27/03/2006 22:04

I'm still on for it but will give definate answer once i've seen dr next Tues. Feeling so tired and crappy i need to find out if baby is stealing everthing!

Uwila · 27/03/2006 22:17

Of course baby is stealing everythign. You know what they are like. Selfish buggers!

Hope you can make it!

SnowdropsInTheSpring · 27/03/2006 22:21

Hahaha. Think he's taken my brain aswell. Wouldn't think i have a ds the way i carry on....

MrsBigD · 27/03/2006 22:43

brain? what's a brain???? Grin

OP posts:
trying2bgood · 27/03/2006 23:26

mrs - me, am still up for 6th!

snow - yes baby is taking it all. During my preg with dd1, I was sick all day everyday for 6 months, I did not even hold down water and ended up in hospital on a drip! Doctors told me not to worry as no matter how much I vomited, the baby would take everything it needed from me and yes at my expense. I was quite comforted by that!!!!

MrsBigD · 28/03/2006 07:23

Here is what I've deduced so far with my muddled brain:

Confirmed for 6 April:

MrsRecyle
Uwila
Trying2bGood
MrsBigD

Quite possibly

Snowdropsinthespring
YanksUponThames

You 2 need shorter names!!! Grin

Snowboo you're not alone - I feel exactly the same at the moment. Fat, tired and snappy. Do come along - we can fall asleep at the table together! I can give you a lift there so you can even have a kip in the car. Oh please come!! I want to compare bumps!

Uwila · 29/03/2006 10:26

I'm fat, tired, and snappy too... but I'm not pregnant (thank God).

MrsBigD · 29/03/2006 10:43

UWILA ... YOU'RE NOT FAT!
because if you are then I'm humongous (however that is spelled) Grin

OP posts:
Uwila · 29/03/2006 10:52

Oh, okay. You just keep wearing those special goggles that make me look skinny.

I'm defintiely tired and crabby... see thread about my crap job. It has has since improved and I think I've got what I wanted, but I'm now pissed off at them for pissing me off.

MrsRecycle · 29/03/2006 12:14

I'm glad you're not pregnant as well Uwila - I wouldn't have any clothes to wear Grin Which I meant to say thanks for and have totally forgotten my manners. So Thank You so much.

SnowBoo · 29/03/2006 12:23

How long you got left MrsR? According to the picture bump chart i'm the same size as a 30weeker and i'm just under 22weeks....

Will try and make it next week. Have had such a manic weekend with the ILs that i'm knackered! Hopefully i can now rest for a week but will give a definate on Monday. That ok?
