New Mums in North London

Hi

I live in the wood green/crouch end/hornsey area with my 7 week old baby boy, and I'm keen to get out and about and meet new mums in my area.

But as I couldn't get into an NCT class, I feel I might be missing out on the local mums' network, so get in touch if you're in the same boat...

I thought I'd missed out on making friends by not doing NCT but actually made friends through baby massage, then a baby group. There are loads of different groups around and it may take visits to a few to find one where the other mums are your type. I found a group, took dd there weekly for 3 years, had a break between kids then so pleased to go back when ds was born. I now run it. Its quite a unique group, not like any others any of us have ever attended so if you fancy a very chilled out unstructured couple of hours with tea and coffee and choccy biscuits, come on over to Islington. You'd be very welcome!

Wow - thanks so much!

Techno phobe that I am, I'm afraid to say I haven't really used chatrooms before - but I love this online community thing! This is so helpful.
The postnatal course sounds good - I tried to get in contact with the haringey nct about theirs but no-one has returned my calls! I'll keep an eye on the finsbury park coffee and if its a time I can make I'll definitely come along. I'm up for coming over to Islington too - I think we're just about ready for a new public transport challenge...

gladys100, welcome to mumsnet. Hope you've managed to make some contact. There's a lovely group which currently meets Monday afternoons 1-4 pm called Jolly Babies at the Burghley Road Under 5s Centre - it's just off Turnpike Lane so must be quite near you where Wood Green meets Hornsey.

If you're at a loose end at weekends etc I'd love to meet you some time, but I've just gone back to full time work during the week. My ds is 10 months old and I would probably suggest a park which has a cafe, or a cafe which is in a park, as the weather hopefully will brigthen up again soon.

Good luck.

Have those of you in Barnet tried the Barnet Local section of Mumsnet? There might be others there in the same situation.
