For those who went to the Mumsnet Christmas Meetup........

Now that you've put faces to names, and had real conversations as opposed to anonymous exchanges via computer......Do you feel closer to people who post here? Feel a loss of privacy? Has anything about how you use Mumsnet changed, and if so, what?

Just curious about the longterm after effects of the meetup. I wasn't able to come, and wonder if meeting causes people to post/read differently ...

I didn't go to Xmas meetup, but have met several other MNetters. I do feel more of a bond/interest in posts to people I have met. I don't think that having met people makes me post differently; the first local meet-up I went to, I did feel a bit funny that these people would have read a lot of personal mental health stuff about me, but in a way it's actually quite liberating, that people know this sort of information about me, and still want to know me/meet up with me.

The only thing I regret is that I suddenly reached a kind of 'I-can't-face-talking-to-any-more-new-people' point midway through the evening and I had to scurry back to my seat to recover. But I think that was not an uncommon experience. However I hope those people who witnessed that horrified rabbit caught in the headlights moment made allowances.

Strangely I hardly encounter the people I sat with for the meal on here. I think they are worktime posters and I tend to post in the evenings, and also tend to be on different boards.
I have to say there are one or 2 that I do view slightly differently because they were so different from how I had imagined.

I did think about this last night and can't remember a lot of faces, some I never even found out who they were.

I was also wondering if anyone has disappeared because of the night out?

Well hello Cori! How are you?!
Was thinking about you guys earlier as I packaged up a "BabyDriver" I sold on ebay! Have you seen her at all?
Hope you're all well!

cori · 30/01/2006 21:21

Nope havent seen Babydriver at all.

I am fine, am now 26 weeks pregnant and doing well at the moment.

I also dont think the meet up has changed things. Just know a few more people now.
