Helloooooooo there, thanks for coming back to me. Im originally (years and years ago) dare i admit it.......Bridgwater!! but i have been living in wimborne, Dorset.

If you havent heard of it then its right between poole and bournemouth.

Im really loving Clevedon tho, everyone is so friendly. Went to a really nice toddler group in nailsea the other day where they use puppets and musical instruments. Ella loved it.

Sorry im rabbiting on. I havent had much adult conversation recently so my mouth just goes into overdrive.

How about you peeps, whats weston and bristol like? any nice places like animal farms or anything you could recommend?

MrsPontyPine · 30/05/2007 13:24

Hello Clevedon here too, blimey there are a lot of us! DS is 2 and DD 8 months back at work now sadly but home Mondays and Fridays

havinalaughem · 30/05/2007 13:49

Hi there..... Mrspontypine.

I am aiming to go back to work in september part time but just cant find anything to suit. What do you do about childcare? I looked at the coach house in portishead and that seemed nice but being new to the area i dont know much about any of them.

Can you recommend any clubs/places to go in or around clevedon?? be great if you could.

Mondays and friday off, that sounds ideal. have you always lived in clevedon???

MrsPontyPine · 30/05/2007 14:25

Hi havinalaughem,

I moved here from Bristol but we are from Taunton originally. How long have you been here?

DD goes to a childminder and DS to a nursery for 2's and over. I've never really done toddler groups or clubs although I do do Tearless and Fearless at Strode with DS (for the over 1's)which is fun, I will probably do that again with DD when she is 1 too. We love going to Weston in the summer, people may laugh but it is great for the little ones and you are home in 20 mins when everyone has had enough sand and ice cream.

havinalaughem · 30/05/2007 14:38

Tearless and fearless, whats that? you have me intrigued!!!

I moved here this month (may) so i really am a proper newb to the area.

I thought when i moved here about weston, its on your doorstep but not in your face and its a family beach.

The beachs in bournemouth are not, they are all about "looking good" Although they are nice beaches its very image consious. (the blokes wore more make up than i do! I moved here because i didnt want Ella having those kind of pressures. Also to bring her closer to her grandparents.

MrsPontyPine · 31/05/2007 17:55

Hi, sorry I haven't got back to this thread before now, I've had a couple of really hectic days at work. Tearless and Fearless is a sort of soft play /obstacle course with singing and nursery rhymes at the local sports centre. It is quite fun and the children really build their confidence in getting about. The changing rooms at the sports centre are gross but the pool is ok and there is a junior pool.

The beach in Clevedon itself is lovely for beach combing and just enjoying having a glass of wine and watching the sun go down. The Salt Field is great for the little ones, the park is ok (I'm not big on play parks) and DS loves the train or just being allowed to run around. Poet's Walk is lovely.

We've been in Clevedon about 3 years now and have found it a really friendly place, and great for kids we love it here and I'm sure you will too.

Not sure if anyone is still looking at this but thought I'd stick my head in and say hello just in case. We're in Wimborne in Dorset atm but going to move temporarily to Weston shortly. DD is due to start school on 16th July in one of the Cheddar Valley first schools, so we will after a bit move back down to one of the villages down there where we lived before.

Someone mentioned Farms etc. We went to Animal Farm in Berrow last weekend with a baby, a 3 year old, 7, 8 & 9 year olds and all of them had a great time. Haven't been for ages but there's also Court Farm (I think) near Banwell and Noah's Ark somewhere near Clevedon.

fransmom · 23/06/2007 20:58

court farm is abit expensive for what it is - only dd had a good time
