Brighton Christmas meet up?

Is anyone up for a Brighton Christmassy meet-up? (Mince pies and wine, yummmm Grin)

How about a Saturday towards the beginning of December - the 3rd or the 10th maybe?

Or another date - what do you reckon?

It looks like the 3rd is the best day for most people (sorry MOS and Sevenfoldedbloodybodies!) so I reckon we should stick with that.

What do you feel like for food? Personally I'm not fussed if it's a Christmassy meal or not - happy to go with whatever the rest of you would like - what do you think? (Wine and relaxed atmosphere essential though!)

I don't know Brighton very well so I've asked a few of my Brighton friends for suggestions, I'll let you know what they say.

Did any of you have anywhere in mind?

Has anyone been to this place? La Marinade

They're doing a special offer of 3 courses and half a bottle of Cava for £19.50.

(It's got mixed review on the top table).

i'll do my best - dunno yet

MABS · 06/11/2011 10:08

not been there threefeet, but heard good things bout it, i easy re venue. La Marinade is in Kemp Town, that ok for people to get to? i fine to get wherever, just thinking it not near station.

threefeethighandrising · 06/11/2011 10:40

Good point MABS, near the station is probably much easier, isn't it. Let's keep that one up our sleeves and have another think :)

MABS · 06/11/2011 13:44

good idea x

threefeethighandrising · 06/11/2011 21:37

OK, here are some recommendations I've had - what do you think?

Vegetarian (but bear with me, it's lovely!) If there's any chance I can persuade you consider veggie, Food for Friends is great. They're doing a Christmas deal of £16.95 for two courses.

Indian The Chilli Pickle should be lovely - they seem to have won lots of foodie awards

Foodie bistro type place House It looks lovely. A little on the pricey side though £23 for Christmas menu.

I've got more coming but I'm going to post this before I loose the post!

there were a couple of other nice recommendations from my friends but I'm not sure if they were really "restauranty" enough.

How about one of the Italians we went to before? They were nice.

Are there any nice foodie pubs in Brighton?

OP posts:
MABS · 07/11/2011 12:58

Food for friend is nice, Chilli Pickle is amazing! my fave restaurant. House is very nice. I also like the italians, never too pricey so accessible for all . not helping am i??!!

threefeethighandrising · 07/11/2011 15:59

"Never too pricey so accesible for all" is good too :)
I'd really like to try the Chilli Pickle. It's fairly reasonable priced too isn't it?

Shall we say the Chilli Pickle if people fancy an indian or an Italian if not?

Does anyone else have a preference?

OP posts:
MABS · 07/11/2011 18:07

I LOVE Chilli Pickle so am very biased, not terribly reasonable tho if I am honest, or it might just be me :( i easy

Lottiegal · 07/11/2011 21:11

Hi! just popping in to introduce myself, I'm Jo and am moving to Eastbourne very soon, in the next couple of months. Beccy asked me to come along to the Christmas 'do' after posting on another thread, and think I'm free on the 3rd so should be able to make it. I'm not very familiar with Brighton these days though, so hopefully I don't get lost!! Looking forward to meeting you all :o

Oh and I have 3 children, Hugh 3, Freyja 2 and Charlie 4 months. J

threefeethighandrising · 08/11/2011 00:17

Hi Lottiegal, nice to see you here :)

OP posts:
Tortington · 08/11/2011 00:17

i wanted to go to chilli pickle for a long time. yes yes

threefeethighandrising · 08/11/2011 00:20

It does look lovely doesn't it!

How about we go to the Chilli Pickle early enough to catch their lunch menu? (12-3pm) That way it won't be too pricey?

What do you think?

OP posts:
threefeethighandrising · 08/11/2011 00:21

If we met at say 2ish then we'd have plenty of time to order late lunch and still while away the afternoon with some Wine

OP posts:
Tortington · 08/11/2011 00:25

threefeethighandrising · 08/11/2011 00:28

confusedpixie · 10/11/2011 11:16

Anyone mind if I ask to join the bandwagon? I didn't get a chance to organise myself in time for the October meet after being invited along but would love to meet some locals :) I just moved down in September, no kids but I'm a nanny and could do with some wisdom and wine ;)

MABS · 10/11/2011 14:00

please do Pixie

threefeethighandrising · 10/11/2011 15:00

Pixie that would be great, see you there! :)
