Hello this is my first message so maybe I should introduce myself.

I have a 1 year old daughter (yesterday was her birthday) and was hoping to find out if there are any groups that get together .

I am from Newcastle, living in Chester le Street and work in Billingham. Relocated back from Slough about 3 years ago and haven't had a chance to make many new friends in the area.

Sob story over with . So, if anyone out there knows of any groups that would be great.

Hello Jo- just wanted to say hi welcome to MN.
Exiled Geordie, living in Huddersfield so can't help much on the what's available in your area question. Give it time I'm sure the NE crowd will spot you soon.
used to work in Cheste-le- Street years ago- a bit different from Slough! Visit home regularly as Dh also from there so lots of family but my 3 are a little older now so out of touch with little ones activities there. say happy birthday to your lovely dd.
hope you settle well and speak again soon on MN

Sorry to hijack your thread jo - where in Huddersfield are you Maturer? Are you in touch with other MNers from here?

Jo, hope you find some groups to get along to - since I've had my second Ds ( 13 weeks) I've been much keener to get out and meet other people in the area. I've lived in this area all my life, but have to say that none of my close friends have children so feel a bit of a billy when it comes to things to do in the day!

Hi whensanta...........
I'm near the centre, live near Greenhead Park. have tried a couple of times to meet up with local MN's but never managed. fancy a coffee then?

maturer · 12/12/2005 22:42

oops whensarah....not santa! must be the time of year!!!!!

whensarahgotstuckupthechimney · 13/12/2005 11:40

Sound good Maturer - shall i be brave and risk no replies from anyone by starting a Huddersfield meet up thread for after Christmas?!!

maturer · 13/12/2005 12:13

go for it- I'll reply at least!

jo74 · 14/12/2005 09:42

hi there maturer and whensarah nice to see you guys getting on. hope you manage to set up a Huddersfield meet-up

this is all new to me so may take me a while to get the hang of all the abbreviations/lingo.

Since moving back I haven't had much of a chance of meeting people (working 40 miles from home doesn't help to make friends).

most of my friends don't have children and I feel as if all I do is talk about dd. This is probably the case as my life tends to be all baby at the minute.

off topic. could someone help me.

dd is a year old and still drinking formula in first and last bottle.

she will have whole milk on her breakfast and in cooked food but I don't know how to get her to drink it.

she is not good at drinking anyway. got her a first cup but she doesn't like it.

Any ideas??

Hi Jo,

I'm from lowfell, near chester le street. Unfortunately, I moved from there and now live in heighington village, newton aycliffe. I don't know of any groups in your area but if I hear of any I'll let you know. I still visit lowfell every week as my parents still live there. Good luck!
Andrea.
