Have you eaten at the Red lion at Stathern yet?

earthtomummy · 25/11/2005 23:03

does Newark count?

colditz · 25/11/2005 23:06

Red Lion at Stathern is gorgeous, Dahhhling.

Don't go outside on New Years Day if you are squeemish - the Belvoir Hunt are out in force.

Colditz - am very near to Melton! Am new to the area from London and am just finding my feet so would really appreciate some local knowledge, particularly when it comes to entertaining three under three and a fortnight!!!! Its a bit different to London living but in a positive way

I live in West Bridgford in Nottingham - so not far away - about 20 mins - don't venture in the darkness that is Nottingham City (unless you want to be shot - according to the news)

If we are recommending pubs/eateries - check out the Peacock in Redmile.

I'm in Sth Lincs, not a million miles away

The Crown and Plough in Long Clawson is also good - just been refurbished. How about activities with the kids. Would really like to find something to do with my dd1 and dd2 whilst ds is at pre-school. Any tumbletots/music classes anyone can recommend in the area?

Sallie

Tumble Tots is held in Melton Mowbray, I think on Burton Road somewhere. I don't know really about groups, because I am quite antisocial, and have only just plucked up the courage to take ds to pre school 1 day a week!

Twinlakes is absolutely fantastic in the summer, and I don't think they charge for under 3's either.

There is a farmers market on a Friday morning at the cattle market, a livestock market at the cattle market on Tuesday mornings (free entry so great for looking at moo cows), a general market in the town centre on a Tuesday morning and Saturday morning, a flea market on a Wednesday morning in the town centre, and a massive car boot on a Sunday morning in the cattle market.

There is a mums and toddlers run in the Covenant Life centre on weekday mornings, but have never been so don't know whatit is like.

Failing all else, lots of rosy-cheek-making country walking!
