As promised.... here is the beginnings of our January Meet-up.

Choices are:

Glasgow
Edinburgh
Falkirk
Stirling
Perth

Perth is a bit far for me (no car), apart from that I'm not too bothered where it is.

DATE: SUNDAY 15th JANUARY 2006

Now we have some choices:

  1. With or without kids
  2. Meal or just coffees
  3. Is it an evening
  4. Is it an evening involving alchohol.

..Not that I'm trying to sway y'all towards a good swally!

Sign in folks.

Lol, typical I would prefer Edinburgh (unsuprisingly as I live here!) and kind of fancied an evening meet-up (on a weekend night) like that crazy London shindig!! Boooooooooo.

Still I can do Glasgow (grrr)... day (grrr)... with kids (grrr).

SackAche · 30/11/2005 09:16

Just a thought, but.......Falkirk is SOOOOO much more central to everyone you know!

And your point Sackache?
We want to have a nice sophisticated afternoon/evening so am unsure how Falkirk can help us there....

But what is that big place straight opposite Grahamston station if there were no kiddies/loads of wine involved?

gscrym · 30/11/2005 10:10

I agree with Sackache, Falkirk way more central. If I'm nightshift, I can have some sleep, come out and then go straight back to bed.

My neighbour told me about a place called Cadwinkle. It's near where Falkirk FC used to play (I use the term loosely). It's got loads of soft play and a cafe. Pap the kids in the soft play and we can all drink coffee. Wahey!

After suggesting this, it'll probably be a date when I'm day-shift and you'll all have a lovely time. (Slopes off cursing shifts)

gscrym · 30/11/2005 10:12

Gomez, do you mean Behind The Wall (rubbish on a saturday night, can't get to the bar and guarunteed fag burns), Firkins (v.smokey studenty pub) or Asda (loads of food and drink. Just need a park bench and some brown bags).

gomez · 30/11/2005 10:16

Behind the Wall I think gscrym. But don't really have experience so just ignore me if it is garbage.

sweetkitty · 30/11/2005 10:17

Oh I think I've been to Firkins and Behind the Wall one of my uni mates was a Falkirk native and we had a few good nights out there (I think!!)

SackAche · 30/11/2005 10:18

hahahahaaaa Gomez!

....can we at least agree that its an evening out without the bairns????

There's an Italian Restaurant just next to Grahamston Station too.... its lurvly.

Not sure if I can leave my babies thou' Toothache.

Aye, go on then if I must. I must admit my preference would be sprogless and drunk .

If alcoholic beverages are to be taken would rather do Friday/Saturday night than a Sunday. Or student style could get drunk Sunday lunchtime.

SackAche · 30/11/2005 10:24

Drunk at lunchtime..... ah the memories....

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 30/11/2005 10:35

I can't get drunk at anytime will either be huge and pregnant or have newborn hanging off my nipples!

SackAche · 30/11/2005 10:37

SK - You can be the designated driver. Seriously though.... rather than an all out piss up.... what about dinner?

Dinner is fine with me. I can even help with transport for other Weegies if anyone needs it.

weesaidie · 30/11/2005 13:20

dinner is fine by me..

diane77 · 30/11/2005 18:38

Falkirk would be fab as very handy for me!! Oh please not Firkins that was my local when I was 18 ive spent many a night there comatosed in a corner!

diane77 · 30/11/2005 18:38

Dimmer would be great

diane77 · 30/11/2005 18:39

oops dinner!

SackAche · 01/12/2005 09:11

OK. Dinner it is..... but where....... ?

OP posts:
mcmudda · 01/12/2005 09:17

Dinner sounds good - I've been to the River House in Stirling (next to the castle) a couple of times for lunch. It would be pretty central, but we'd all have to drive to get there . Don't know what it's like in the evening.

diane77 · 01/12/2005 09:18

what kind of budget|?

SackAche · 01/12/2005 09:25

McMudda - Oh its expensive! I've been there a couple of times with friends for lunch and its not the sort of place where a gaggle of women blethering about episiotomies and snotty kids would be welcomed.

Shall we decide on Stirling then? Although Falkirk is on the main express line from Edinburgh to Glasgow and is only 25mins either way.....

planting seeds..... thats all...<

Seriously though. For me its not that much of a concern whether its Glasgow or Edinburgh.... i'm just thinking that somewhere in between makes much more sense.... and even more sense to choose someplace on the main trainline for those that don't drive or want to have a few glasses of wine.

Prettybird · 01/12/2005 09:45

So SackAche, was is the Italian resturant beside the station like? Would it be able to cope with a gaggle of women?

SackAche · 01/12/2005 09:53

Definitely able to cope!! I dare say it'll be fine and lively.
Have had a quick conversation with a girl I work with that knows Falirk quite well and I think the Italian or Behind The Wall would be best.

Behind The Wall is okay as long as you stay in the restaurant part of it! The pub gets veerrrrrry busy! Both are right next to Grahamston Station or a short walk from Falkirk High Station.

Plus: my cousin is the Head Chef in BTW so I might be able to wangle a wee discount?

diane77 · 01/12/2005 11:37

BTW is fab for food
