Great news on house lag Grin

I am so sorry about job stitching Sad but can you take some comfort from fact that sounds shambolic management given what you have endured regarding the management and you may have had a lucky escape? Completely agree the head Sounds a twit and majorly unprofessional Angry . Of course It is not ok to let you down .

WhatWouldLeoDo · 05/10/2011 18:58

Stitching - that's terrible. I'm very Angry for you. I would be appalled if any of our managers behaved that way when recruiting. It may not feel like it, but as Gigondas says, you may have had a lucky escape.

LaG - Brilliant news! I'm so very pleased for you. I'm sure you'll make it a fab family home.

DH away for a few days so I'm home alone with DS. Fingers crossed for a good night's sleep!

LaGuerta · 05/10/2011 20:12

Stitching that is a terrible way to be treated. Certainly a lucky escape though, head teachers are so often a law unto themselves as you know all too well. Angry

Leo - how is DS this evening? Are the stickers/rewards helping?

Having spent the whole day being driven crackers by DS1's behaviour, I am half expecting him to wake tomorrow with chickenpox. There is one confirmed case at nursery school and one ominous spot on his leg, but then his eczema may be confusing issues. At least it would be comforting to think that he is ill rather than feral Blush. Stitching: I will call you in the morning if I am proved right about the 'pox.

Thanks for the house congratulations, Smile I am feeling very excited this evening. I agree that in a divorce situation you may be able to get a low offer accepted, but the couple have had the house on for 2-3 years at £800k, they only dropped the price to £725k about 6 weeks ago, and they paid £695k for it in 2006, so not much margin for them to feel good about selling. Anyway, they accepted £700k much to my surprise. Grin

WhatWouldLeoDo · 05/10/2011 20:42

Sounds like you got them at the stage where they just wanted to move on LaG. It's very exciting. When do you think you'll move? If the pox has struck, will you be glad to get it out of the way? DS had it a while ago - last year sometime I think. He wasn't too bad with it after the first day IIRC. It's going around nursery just now.

DS currently having a huge tantrum. Stickers/rewards have been working this week and we've not had to introduce any 'punishments' since the weekend. He earned back all the toys that were taken off him last week and has been allowed tv again. The last couple of nights he's been pretty good at going to bed - this is the first bad one for a while. I'm hiding in the kitchen which is the only place the volume is a bit muted. Sad I'm hoping he'll tire of it soon!

StitchingMoss · 05/10/2011 22:04

Ouch! That's not much of a profit is it? Well, they'll be no profit once costs are paid - obviously getting desperate! Smile

Thanks for all the sympathy re: job. I think I did have a lucky escape, just feel very Sad about how it worked out as it could have been so good.

Leo, sorry to hear about DS again - I really wish there was something I could suggest Blush.

LG, both boys have had CP so don't worry on that score, but obviously if he's feeling rotten with it will totally understand if you don't come. Lol at being ill not feral Grin!

WhatWouldLeoDo · 05/10/2011 22:36

Thanks Stitching (and all of you, in fact). It's been very helpful to have somewhere to vent/moan etc. I was reading a thread earlier about the age 4 stage and am now concerned things will get much worse before they get better! Grin

Anyway. I'm going to do something I never do (but should do) and go to bed before 11pm. Night all!

disguisedeb · 05/10/2011 23:20

ooh Lag, what great news about your house. I've just had a really good look at it and I really like it. Good layout, great location, lovely views, love the balcony, makes me think of Austria, hope you're going to have windowboxes of geraniums. Looked at the local primary and that looks great too. How are you feeling about the move? Excited or worried?

Stitching, what a rollercoaster, they have messed you about so much. I hope that deputy head goes on to become a head very soon and then she can get you in her school!

Gig sorry didn't get back to you about the reading.Sounds like she's going to take to reading easily anyway . I am inclined to say don't worry too much about it, if E wants to know names of sounds etc then by all means tell her, but try not to cover everything that she'll be learning at school. It's great that she's so enthusiastic now, I would worry that if you do anything more formal at this stage it might put her off or she could get bored in school. My personal belief is that they have soooo long at school I do very little "learning" at home.

Took E for his speech therapy assessment, good news is that understanding is fine which I knew, his vocabulary is very good, but the way he says his sounds is inconsistent and very unusual Confused I think he has presented himself as a challenging case for the SALT.Also school are referring him to occupational therapy to see if they can have a look at the foot turning in issue.

Off to the rectory tomorrow, feeling very excited and apprehensive. I think I might love it but it might take too much money to put it right. Introduced ourselves to the vicar this morning at the school harvest festival (that couldn't have been planned better Wink ) and he said I hope you're up for a project!

Leo, hope tantrum has long stopped

what a long post, sorry, oh yes and I've got 6 full days in another school whilst this teacher and head are off to Tanzania, last school they were in Norway!

Gigondas · 06/10/2011 11:17

Any idea on timings re new house lag? And looking forward to hearing about rectory deb (thanks for the reading advice - that all makes good sense ).

How was last night Leo?

Working at home which is a welcome relief as getting quite tired .

StitchingMoss · 06/10/2011 11:28

"Oh Fireman Sam, I was just polishing my fire estinguisher when it went whoosh and covered me in white sticky stuff!"!!!!!

Do you think someone with a sense of humour wrote that or do i just have a dirty mind?????

Sorry, had to share!

Gigondas · 06/10/2011 13:32

Grin was that genuinely in fireman sam??

disguisedeb · 06/10/2011 14:41

lol at the white sticky stuff!!

LOVE the rectory Smile, will try to put a photo on FB

Gigondas · 06/10/2011 14:57

Ohh - more distraction Grin

StitchingMoss · 06/10/2011 18:32

Genuinely in Fireman Sam!!!! Grin I was watching it with the boys at lunchtime and nearly spat my tea out Shock!

Love the rectory too Deb - looks idyllic Smile.

Gigondas · 06/10/2011 18:43

Envy gorgeous photos of the rectory

disguisedeb · 06/10/2011 19:49

I am very excited about the rectory and trying not to be in case it doesn't go through, but we've got to see it before it goes on the market, we have spoken to conservation office re listed building consent for changes and I'm hoping that she can come on a site visit next week to advise.I'm all for putting in an offer now but Nigel is a little more cautious!I don't suppose we can put in an offer if it's not for sale yet.And I asked but the diocese won't sell privately, only through the agent.

It is so lovely though, 3 rec rooms, kitchen, utility, loo, 5 bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. Lots of original features and interesting history, we think there's a hidden staircase up to the attic, so we have to investigate that on the next viewing. Big garden, parking and a small barn to convert at a later date if money allows. Please someone tell me to calm down, my mind is racing.

Gigondas · 06/10/2011 21:08

I think its fine to be excited deb - you know that there a lot of hurdles to jump but at least you are positive about this as all the others you've viewed would have been a big compromise in some way. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Gigondas · 06/10/2011 21:35

I know its aibu but is it me or is this very nasty with all sorts of unpleasant snobby overtones (I know the grammar isn't the best but all the same , a lot of nasty comments and assumptions here). You'd think it was the 1820s with some peoples attitudes about step parents, other women etc.

aibu

WhatWouldLeoDo · 06/10/2011 21:43

Completely agree Gig - I suspect that had the OP been able to articulate her situation better in writing she would have got a completely different response.

Deb - fingers and toes crossed for you. The Rectory sounds like it has loads of space, so can I come visit and hide from my devil DS? Grin

disguisedeb · 06/10/2011 23:23

ooh yes Leo, it will be lovely to have a house big enough to have friends to stay again, and family too!

disguisedeb · 07/10/2011 23:17

hellooooooo.....................

Gigondas · 08/10/2011 08:58

Helloooo watching rugby on sofa in France ... The bad news is dh got inlayer ro work here so no escape from e's obsession with number jacks .

WhatWouldLeoDo · 08/10/2011 12:07

Helloooooooo. The most productive thing I've done today is build a new train layout for DS. Am now regretting not putting more train related things on his Christmas list Grin

Now that it's midday I think I might get in shower Blush. Joint family bday party for DNephew (2) and DNiece (9) today. What's everyone else up to?

disguisedeb · 08/10/2011 14:47

helped out at school coffee morning this morning, went to show boys the rectory, Ethan"buy this house!", now home for a wet and windy afternoon with some of us starting with colds, Ethan is v moany!!

WhatWouldLeoDo · 09/10/2011 13:14

How's everyone today Deb?

I'm currently trying to find some enthusiasm for studying. Sad Which is why I'm currently wondering if any of you are on Pininterest (I requested an invite AGES ago but am still waiting) and if any of you have taken DC to a 3D movie? DS really wants me to take him to see the Lion King at the cinema, but only the 3D version is on whenever I could take him. He'll sit in the cinema quite happily, so I'm not concerned about that, I'm just not sure if 3D is that great for little children's eyes?

Ok, I really must go study.

Gigondas · 09/10/2011 14:25

Am chilled as had very lazy weekend.

We discussed taking e to lion king but decided to wait not cos of 3d (am sure will be fine if keeps glasses on) but dh remembers taking dss when he was older and although he loved it, he was a bit scared ( when the dad lion gets killed). Hth
