Hope this works, a shiny new thread girls - come on in Smile.

Lol at the correction of name but is true.

I have a burn mark on our wooden decking as burned dry a pan of potatoes and for some reason when I shoved it outside I focussed in on the obvious area to put it. Also ruined a Xmas cake when put too much paper in and it caught fire (I still cut burned bit off and soaked it in booze and iced it but always tasted odd to me).

WhatWouldLeoDo · 09/09/2011 22:12

Grin at drunken pronunciation of Isabel. Though it tends to be Isobel here.

disguisedeb · 09/09/2011 22:22

Clara and Esther are my favourites on the list. Favourite ever girls name is Eleanor

Impressive cooking there LaG, hope you haven't got a viewing tomorrow!

We are dog sitting for a friend this weekend and she is such a lovely dog, a rescued greyhound. She is so quiet and gentle, such a softy. We are all even keener now to get ourselves a house as then we can have a dog too. Not supposed to have dogs in this rented place but for a weekend it's OK.Tristan is desperate to get one, he is animal mad. Sil phoned the other day to say that she had agreed to take on a rescued puppy and look after it until we get a house, problem is, it's a labradoodle. Have googled them, and I don't like them at all. Have told sil and she says she'll just keep it but I still feel bad.

Nigel is taking the boys(the big boys) to an organised deer walk in a local forest on Sunday morning, EARLY, they have to leave here at 5.15am Shock If they can leave quietly enough not to wake Ethan I might make cooked breakfast when they get back!Hope the dog goes back to sleep too.

Been off to another school today touting myself as supply teacher and they seem very keen, so fingers crossed.I have a few days at the end of the month at another school so that's good.

disguisedeb · 09/09/2011 22:23

anyone just watch "Would I Lie to you" - it was hilarious.

Gastonladybird · 10/09/2011 06:49

Yes it was v funny (am amazed I stayed awake). Claim to fame as one of regulars is dad of someone in e's preschool.

Any news in house deb? What happened to that rectory place you mentioned.? Pet discussion been had here but it can wait a few Years as don't think introducing pets and babies works (bit different if you already have them like stitching)

LaGuerta · 10/09/2011 08:36

Yes it was vv good. Nothing funnier than watching other people crying with laughter.

disguisedeb · 10/09/2011 14:06

Rectory isn't on the market until the end of the month, nothing else really at the moment

StitchingMoss · 10/09/2011 19:22

Watched "Would I Lie to You" last night - bloody hilarious! Then QI - comedy gold Smile.

disguisedeb · 12/09/2011 22:54

Helloooooooooooo........have you all been blown away?

StitchingMoss · 13/09/2011 03:35

I'm here Smile although I should be in bed Sad.

Bloody insomnia again.

LaGuerta · 13/09/2011 11:58

Hi!

What's causing the insomnia (if anything specific)?

News here:

Ds2 has got to a v self destructive stage where he is pulling up, standing then keeling over like a plank and banging his head on the floor. Can't remember DS1 being this bad. It's v Sad. What toys do 10mo like? He just seems to roam around finding lots of age inappropriate stuff to shove in his mouth or crack his head on.

I have finally got over last week's bug. I spent 5 days on lemsip: aching, sweating, sore throat. Just down to blocked ears now so cant hear very well.

Decided to change agents to try and give the house sale some new legs.

Umm... That's it

Oh, and I have been invited to a hen do with a burlesque class as one of the activities Hmm

Gastonladybird · 13/09/2011 20:42

Classy night out laguerta Hmm- someone seriously suggested a pole dancing class as a work night out...

New agent sounds good.

Re age appropriate I think fisher price in it's own- any little people stuff, there is a new sound kitchen (on amazon ) I spotted and suggested to someone else with a nearly one year old ...

I am not thinking of this as of course e one entering barbie phase (small shoes etc) just as baby arrives.

So

Gastonladybird · 13/09/2011 20:42

Sorry to hear about the insomnia stitching

WhatWouldLeoDo · 13/09/2011 21:11

Evening all. Burlesque eh? Will you go LG? I don't get all this kind of stuff for hen do's - expensive city breaks, 'interesting' classes, full day events etc. Can't brides just go out for a meal and several drinks with their friends anymore. (Apologies to anyone who had a hen extravaganza Blush). I'm of the weddings are expensive enough, don't make the hen/stag expensive too brigade. Grin.

Toys for 10 month old... Happyland? Fairly robust and safe. Chunky megabloks? Wooden bricks etc? DS loved the annoying as hell Vtech walker about that age. In fact, anything that made a noise/flashing lights etc. We had one of those big wooden activity cube type things that S quite liked too (though not as much as noisy flashing plastic tat).

Stitching - I hope you get a better night's sleep.

Deb - how did the boys get on with their early start on Sunday?

Bit bored here. I'm not feeling brilliant (general run down, overtired etc) so despite plans to get started with my exam revision I thought I'd have a quiet night on the sofa. However, I've nothing on the Sky planner except lots of The Killing episodes (which DH and I are watching together and he's got work to do) and there's nothing much on tv except weather related pixels. I can't really be bothered to do anything else (despite having lots of things I could be doing while sitting here - writing up a study plan, some online banking, christmas shopping, writing up lists and plans for some home made christmas goodies I want to get started on, finishing a photo album that needs to be done within the next week, clearing out my exceptionally cluttered email inbox...). Meh.

disguisedeb · 13/09/2011 23:59

Stitching, sorry to hear about the insomnia

LaG, just looked through the photos of Ethan at 10 months and he's generally playing with something unsuitable that belonged to the boys and in the background I can see trails of discarded wooden blocks, stacking cups, and musical shakers, bells etc... When he was pulling himself up then the vtech walker and also a ball thing similar to this In fact Tristan had that toy and loved it, Ethan's was bigger and he would pull himself up to drop the balls down, but I can't find any on the internet and can't remember the name of it.

Leo - boys loved the walk despite the time, but only Tristan saw the deer, Nigel and Stefan missed them by a second. They are heading off to another forest this weekend!!I think they're hoping for another cooked breakfast when they return

StitchingMoss · 14/09/2011 17:04

Leo, totally with you on the mad hen nights now - we just had a meal and drinks, it was brilliant fun, didn't cost the earth or embarrass anyone and meant all my friends could make it Smile.

LG, I would second what deb said about the toys - DS2 has never played with baby toys cos all of DS2s toys are sooo much more interesting!

Thanks for all the sympathy about the insomnia - not really sure what caused it, just 'one of those things' but I'm really suffering from the effects today Sad.

Btw, Gaston just saw your commment about different labour times - 12hrs for DS1, 4hrs for DS2 Grin. Again, all friends report the same - second labours almost always quicker than the 1st.

Big news: have just been offered a teaching job, one I would take too, but . . . can't find childcare Sad.

disguisedeb · 14/09/2011 21:54

Oh no, what a bugger about the childcare, didn't you have a childminder before? I've managed to get a few days supply in another school that can afford to pay me.(UPS) as they are willing to pay for someone experienced as they have VERY fussy parents! Hope it goes OK Smile

disguisedeb · 14/09/2011 21:58

Stitching, is the school where the job is in a different area to where you live?If so would there be childcare there for ds2 and then you just have ds1 to find childcare for locally?

LaGuerta · 14/09/2011 22:32

Thanks for toy ideas. Seriously considering ball run and vtech walker. DS2 did less damage to himself yesterday largely because he was strapped into his Pushchair for much of it.

Excessive hen dos - I am so over them. The bride though is a lovely person and probably the last of my friends (apart from me, but I don't count) to get married. I feel we should still make the effort despite all having babies. The rest of the weekend sounds fine. Just the burlesque that makes me want to run for the hills. It's the bridesmaids' rather than the bride's idea.

Stitching - I really think you ought to take the job if there is anyway you can cobble together a childcare solution. Working suits you, I suspect you would be happier than as a SAHM. Is there no chance of grovelling your way back in with the childminder? I am sure you have considered this but in a year - 18 months both your boys will need considerably less personally funded childcare than right now. Hope I haven't spoken out of turn, but I would so like to see you happier than you are right now

Deb - LLL was from your neck of the woods tonight (Darlington anyway) did you see it? Has DH filled the application yet?

WhatWouldLeoDo · 14/09/2011 23:14

We had a fisher price thing LG - an older version of the current 'roll a rounds jungle treehouse' (sorry, not great at links on phone) DS loved it.

Gastonladybird · 15/09/2011 17:01

Agree with laguerta re job- childcare prob fixAble but a job that suits less easy to find . I agree too that you seem to miss working- you are good at your job and had an unlucky time last post. Getting back into work when have chance might be a good idea to exorcise the memory . Aside from
Cm any nanny shares locally?

Am sat on train next to stinkiest bloke- I don't know how he can bear to LeaVe house like that.

StitchingMoss · 15/09/2011 17:26

Have I been that miserable LG? Blush

I know I would be better working p/t than being at home f/t but childcare not necessarily that easy to find as I'm not taking DS1 out of pre-school so need someone who can accommodate that. Gaston, completely agree with you about exorcising the memory of the last job - if I do decide to give up teaching completely I don't want it to be cos I was pushed rather than jumped Sad.

Anyway, have spoken to the deputy head who approached me and she wants me so much she has gone back to the head to ask him to change the days to suit me Grin. We'll see what he says Smile. I have had my phone glued to my hand all day and no news yet . . .

My old CM will have the boys but can't work Fridays - I really want them to go back to her if they go anywhere - they absolutely adore her.

Deb, you were v lucky to get supply on UPS! This school were delighted to find that, despite my age, I was only on MPS Grin.

Grin at stinky bloke - the joys of train travel!

LG, what do you mean you don't count re: marriage?! We have four gorgeous page boys between us now, you have to get married! Wink

disguisedeb · 15/09/2011 18:11

lag - Yes I did see it, not too far from us. I'm thinking of filling in the application now, I met a family today who have bought the house I showed you all, mid terrace, lovely kitchen but we didn't go for it as it was mid terrace and parking was a pain. I feel like everyone else is moving on with their lives and we're still in renting limbo. Some of the houses we discarded are now sold and a part of me thinks why didn't we buy them then we'd be settled. If anyone has time have a look at Right move for us and tell us which you like the look of.Thanks

disguisedeb · 15/09/2011 18:12

everything crossed that you get the right days stitching

Gastonladybird · 15/09/2011 20:33

What budget and how many bedrooms? Any preference on village
