I know it's a bit last minute but just wanted to let you know, I'm taking dd's to Alice in Wonderland today if anyone would like to meet me there.

Oh Sparkler - what a shame - would have been a lot quicker to get there then bloody Longdown Dairy Farm I'm sure! Just as we were heading off we heard on the radio that the A31 was jammed due an accident so thought we'd divert through Forest - but A35 is closed partly so ended up doing a massive detour around Lymington and back again! Stopped off in Forest to have picnic in the sunshine though which was lovely and then tramped through the mud at the farm!

Hope you and the girls had a good day too!

Kittypickle · 27/10/2005 21:33

Sorry Sparkler, only just seen that, we did Sandbanks and Studland today. Is the new indoor bit there any good ? Hope you all had a good time. If you get a moment could you have a look at jellyjelly's thread on schools and Canford Heath ?

Merlin, sounds like a traffic nightmare, what is Longdown Dairy Farm ?

flamebat · 27/10/2005 21:33

Not been to Longdown since I was a child!!! I wanna go there now!!!!!!!!!!!

flamebat · 27/10/2005 21:35

I saw your message this morning Sparkler, but realised that a) I had the child from hell, and b) unless I wandered round with a big sign saying "Are you Sparkler?" I'd have a few problems spotting you

Merlin · 27/10/2005 21:38

Flamebat - think it closes at the end of this month for the season.

Hi KP - hope you are doing OK - Longdown is at Ashurst out in the Forest after Lyndhurst.

Loads of chickens, chicks, goats, cows etc. - and mud, mud, mud!!!! Sort of a smaller version of Farmer Palmers.

flamebat · 27/10/2005 21:41

I'll leave it now until we get back to lamb season . I'll leave DH at home with the newborn, and go out and play with lambs with DD and my mum for the day!

I still remember bottle feeding goats as a child... Is it really commercialised now? Farmer Palmers scared me slightly because I was thinking it would be like the Longdown I remembered...

Kittypickle · 27/10/2005 21:42

I'm fine thanks Merlin, really enjoying this not having to get up for school bit at the moment ! How are you all ? I bet your what was tiny baby is nowhere near so tiny anymore. I'll put Longdown down on the list for next year then. No one happens to have the Moors Valley half term events at hand do they ? I'm sure there was a halloween mask etc making tomorrow but it's not on the website.

Merlin · 27/10/2005 21:43

I wouldn't say it's over commercialised - although they do have the obligatory souvenir shop on the way out!

flamebat · 27/10/2005 21:44

You've gotta have a souvenier shop - my sister gets most upset if I don't buy her a pencil from every daytrip!

Merlin · 27/10/2005 21:46

what is good there though is it's not the only way to get out, so if you are feeling mean you can escape without having to buy anything!

Merlin · 27/10/2005 21:48

KP - yes indeed my tiny baby is now a monster - happily devouring 3 meals a day! Haven't quite cracked the sleeping through bit though - working on that one at the mo! Hope to see you at the next meetup - must get one arranged before Xmas!

Kittypickle · 27/10/2005 21:53

I will do my best to get to the next one, things have been a bit hectic recently. DH and I are off to the Olive Branch on Saturday, haven't been since we went with Delgirl and ANM. I'm really looking forward to us both getting out together, it's been absolutely ages. I'll keep my fingers crossed that your DS gets the hang of this sleeping business by Christmas at the latest. DS slept through the night on December 16th 2 years ago - best present I could have had and the date stamped on in my memory forever !

Merlin · 27/10/2005 21:55

KP - enjoy your night out. Take care, see you soon.

handlemecarefully · 27/10/2005 21:56

Come and cheer me on for my 10k (6.2 miles)run for Cancer Research in the grounds of Kingston Lacy on Sunday (11.00 am) - that's your neck of the woods isn't it?

Sparkler1 - is Alice in Wonderland any good - what's it like? I've passed it on the way to Bournemouth sometimes and wondered about visiting it...

Merlin · 27/10/2005 21:57

HMC - will cheer you on in spirit cos, it's DS1 birthday and we are taking him and 2 friends to the Thomas Day out at Swanage Railway. Hope the weather stays fine for you.

handlemecarefully · 27/10/2005 22:03

That's a good alibi!

Have a good day - hope your little boy enjoys himself

Kittypickle · 27/10/2005 22:07

HMC, I might try to get there, depending whether we end up going to see Thomas . I took DD to Kingston Lacey earlier this week for the Enchanted Garden thing they do at night where they light it all up and have fairies dancing around. I'm embarrassed to say that I'd never been before that (and it's only 5 mins up the road). Can I sponser you please ?

Merlin · 27/10/2005 22:10

hmc - mean to say I will sponsor you too - cat me as to how to do it please.

handlemecarefully · 27/10/2005 22:50

Kittypickle,

I haven't been before either (its a bit further up the road for me though!) - is it hilly (she says with dread in her voice)?

Blimey don't feel under pressure to sponsor me - only if you really want to. I'll CAT you both and leave it up to you whether or not you want to

Kittypickle · 27/10/2005 23:12

Well it was pretty dark and I couldn't see a lot apart from a load of ballet dancers dressed up as fairies but I did get the impression that it was fairly flat - it's definitely flat around the house itself as that was completely illumuniated, but I'm not sure running round that bit will clock up your 10k and I can't vouch for the rest....!

mumlove · 01/11/2005 13:26

Hi, i've only been on this site for about a week, found it doing search for childminding, it would be nice to meet up with some of you over the winter.

amynnixmum · 01/11/2005 13:46

Hi mumlove and welcome to mn.

I haven't been able to make it to a meetup for a while now but we do have a good laugh.
