Hi we are thinking of moving to Whiteley in Fareham Hampshire in early 2006 i was wondering if there are any other mums from this area as it will be nice to meet some local friends to go to toddler groups, or have a coffee/tea somewhere.

I have a baby girl of 19months and we're expecting our 2nd baby girl on 23rd Dec 2005.

Hi - don't live there but visit occasionally (live in Southampton). I think it's a pretty active community down there from what I gather

Welcome to Hampshire - used to work on solent business park there. Only problem with there is that it is a PIA to get out of come rush hour as only one route in! There is lots of community stuff in whitely and all new and lots of young families

Hi, Tommy/Awen thanks for replying: How many children have you got and how old are they?

I hope i don't regret moving as it will be hard to make new friends. All my friends live here i've met 4 mums who i see quite regular every week aswell as all my other ones who've settled down now. My mum is upset we're moving but i asked her to move too but she won't maybe she'll change her mind after a few years.

chocolatefudge,

perhaps consider joining your local NCT group to get to know people? (not all birkenstock wearers ime),

and / or go to playgroups?

That's how I got to know people when I first moved...

Hi chocfudge. Congratulations btw on your planned arrival. I am sure you will meet other mums at toddler groups as well.

Is it the first time you have moved away? I have not experienced the 'big' step of moving but my sister did with small child and pg. She was daunted but made friends and now she is really settled and has s strong group of friends.

I am mum to 1 ds of 5 who is fab

Weather down here is usually pretty good although right now it is peeing down outside. Where are you moving from?

chocolatefudge · 26/10/2005 20:11

Hi Handlemecarefully: Thanks for suggesting the NCT group.

Awen: No, we've moved a few times before but only 30mins away from my mum now it will be about 2hours but i said to her i'd stay every month for a few days and she could get the train down too. We're moving from Erith/ borders of Bexleyheath.

It's good that your sister has settled now i do feel a bit daunted moving again.

Do you know any other nice family areas to move to in Hampshire? Is Gosport any good?

Whereabouts do you live in Southampton?

My dad raves about Gosport, I prefer Stubbington/Hill Head...oh I miss the sea.

have a friend with 2 little girls in Whitely. Nice place, she is very impressed with the school.

HV should help you with making new contacts & I know there are NCT groups in Titchfield/Fareham/Gosport.

Also have friends in Locks Heath, fareham & Chandlers Ford - all do NCT coffee morning etc.

Give them a call now as places for classes get booked up very quickly.

Thanks Mojomummy, Whereabouts do you live now then?
