Well as Angiel was asking... how about a meeting for us Kent (and North East Sussex) girls!
What about Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells area ????

Ok, I'll give it a go. I'll be so nervous though, I'll be the one shaking in the corner. I'm from Maidstone.

tallulah · 30/08/2003 13:39

I'm in Ashford, but work in Maidstone. I'm up for it!

pupuce · 01/09/2003 16:45

No one else in Kent ????

Boe · 02/09/2003 14:50

Me - I live in Sidcup so a while away and I have said before I would never meet up with anyone as would be too scared - also work full time so anythime that is not weekends or evenings is bad for me - I do want to really but am such a cowardy custard.

mollymay · 02/09/2003 15:21

I live in Sidcup Boe! that's a bit close for comfort isn't it!! I wonder if I know you?!

Marina · 03/09/2003 10:06

I'm a near neighbour of Boe and Mollymay in idyllic New Eltham (technically London but we spend a lot of time over the border...)
If it's reachable by train in Kent I'm up for it (and then Boe and I can swap scary Crays stories!)

Boe · 03/09/2003 10:49

Weird - I doubt I know you - I have only recently moved there last year and know 2 people - one my hairdresser and my childminder (have become friendly with a wife of DP's friend) but other than that all of my friends are the other side of the ditch.

Is New Eltham London then?? We have a Dartford Postcode but live a couple of houses from the welcome to Greenwich sign and we pay our taxes to Greenwich but my address says Sidcup - completely weird - I can see the SE9 street sign but do not really live there!!

Have been looking out for someone who looks like a Marina with a little baby but no luck yet - if you get acosted in the street though will be me - knowing my luck will pick the wrong person anyway!!

Better stop waffling now and do some work!!

mollymay · 03/09/2003 14:08

I'm newish to Sidcup as well (moved here three years ago with my husband)....can't decide how I feel about a meet up...half of me would like to meet new people but half of me likes the anonimity of mumsnet....

Marina · 03/09/2003 19:36

Boe, I think most of the geographical area of New Eltham falls within LB Greenwich, but the bit up past Burglar King on Green Lane might be in Bromley, which must be Kent I guess. And then some of the Sidcup end might be Bexley...(e.g. Dulverton School is definitely N Eltham but in Bexley.) Confusing about having a DA postcode but paying council tax to Greenwich, I agree!
Am very ashamed to admit that outings mostly involve being driven around by dh although I did give everyone the slip and escape to Eltham for a quality shopping experience last week. So I have not been generally out and about locally...

Marina · 03/09/2003 19:39

now holding dd so excuse errors - know what you mean mollymay but I have made some really good friends through mumsnet meets. it is worth it if you can conquer your misgivings.

judetheobscure · 04/09/2003 18:56

might be up for this - depends what, where and when really - also a tad nervous given the reactions to some of my posts .... I'm thinking about it.

Angiel · 04/09/2003 19:38

What sort of reactions have you had to your posts then? At least you've had a reaction and haven't been ignored. Must be better.

judetheobscure · 04/09/2003 22:25

I had a bad habit of posting controversial thoughts on sensitive subjects - my own fault really - I'm much better behaved these days Not sure that it's better than being ignored. But if you want people to respond in vast numbers to your posts my top tip is - make it controversial.

Angiel · 25/09/2003 22:11

Does anyone want to meet up then, or has this died a death?

judetheobscure · 25/09/2003 22:47

I'm still here - depends on date, location etc.

pupuce · 26/09/2003 15:13

I am up for it.... shall I suggest a date.... and see where this leaves us !
Monday 13 Oct at 7PM in Maidstone ?
Don't kow Maidstone but we can get a suggestion from someone there ???

OP posts:
Angiel · 26/09/2003 21:12

I could do the 13 October. Haven't been out in Maidstone for years though, I normally go to my local pubs. What sort of place did you fancy? Do you want to eat? I will ask my trendier friends to recommend somewhere.

pupuce · 26/09/2003 21:20

And you live in MAidstone or you are from it ????

OP posts:
Angiel · 26/09/2003 21:22

I live just outside of Maidstone and did spend a lot of my time, pre kids, in various establishments.

tallulah · 27/09/2003 11:06

It always seems to be the kiss of death to any meet-up if I say I'll go, but perhaps this time I won't end the thread?

Monday is the only night of the week I can't do... any chance of having this meet up on a different day of that same week? Maidstone is dodgy for parking, so you need somewhere with its own car park. The only place I know of is the Bull at Penenden Heath.

tallulah · 28/09/2003 22:05

I rest my case

Come on, someone prove me wrong....

pupuce · 29/09/2003 07:46

No no Talullah - we're just waiting for more replies !

OP posts:
tallulah · 30/09/2003 18:16

Thanks, I was getting a complex there

If Angiel has just had her appendix out presumably we'll need to put back the meet until she's better?

Angiel · 18/10/2003 18:34

Sorry if I messed things up! Does anyone fancy trying again?
