We have our house (in Devon) on the market atm and hope to move back to Dublin before Christmas. DH was offered a very attractive redundancy package and we are fed up of having no family support so we're making the Big Move! Can't wait . We'll be renting in Malahide/Swords/Portmarnock (north of Dublin) until we get established and then hope to buy a shoebox for an astronomical amount of money!

Nerdgirl, I won't be far from Ratoath so maybe we can get together?

noddy5 · 16/09/2004 11:02

Pamina3 - I am wondering if I might know your hubby as I am in Derry too. What age would he be and then I might know him without you having to give anymore details!!

Ooh I bet I know someone who knows him whatever foot he kicks with!! A bit older than me but most of my friends are 'across the bridge' and would probably know him. Which school?

Know quite a few blokes from there in his age range and with huge families so I probably would know someone who knows him!! Are most of his family still over here? How weird is that. A tenuous connection to someone on mumsnet!!

honeybunny - my dad's family come from Kildare. We part own a house at Edenderry/Kildare (i think) I get confused as someone also told me it was West Meath. Also have family in Cavan

taramac · 17/09/2004 15:57

They would have grown up around the Creggan area and their dad owned a couple of corner shops. Maybe Niall would be in his age range?

zaphod · 17/09/2004 17:17

Hi all, I am from and live in, Co.Galway. There seem to be quite a lot of you from the North, and Dublin. Anyone else from down the country?

discoinferno · 26/09/2004 14:30

HI all just found this thread. Up Mayo.

zaphod · 26/09/2004 14:37

Am not a big fan of gaelic football, but as I live close to the Mayo border, I will probably watch the match today. Hope that Mayo does it this time.

No offense to any Kerry Mumsnetters out there. .

discoinferno · 26/09/2004 15:02

Zaphod I was born in Galway and my two kids were born in Galway. My mother and father are from Galway but as I live here in Mayo I have to support otherwise I would be run out of town. What part of Galway are you in. I went to school in Tuam (boarder).

discoinferno · 26/09/2004 18:47

ah well. We live to fight another day.

Only an Irish mnetter will understand. Up Mayo.

ja9 · 29/09/2004 18:08

Oh girls! Just found this thread.. and very much enjoyed reading it. I'm from Co. Down also.. Dundonald to be precise, spent a lot of time in Bangor - mum and dad's businesses there. Now living in Scotland. Came here for uni, married a scot and got 'stuck' here. I love the way when i meet someone from NI we can always find a friend in common. You've all made me a bit homesick with ur chat about icre cream in D'dee, fish and chips in Portaferry etc..... must get home soon..

zaphod · 02/11/2004 23:19

Discoinferno, just saw your last message on this thread. I live about 20 mins from Tuam, and grew up in Mayo. What part do you live in?

If you don't want to answer for reasons of anonymity, I totally understand, this is a VERY small country.

Aero · 03/11/2004 00:24
