CFG degree

Has anyone completed the CFG degree? Considering putting in an application for the next cohort and having a bit of a wobble about the time commitment 😵‍💫

I've done mine - found it very very hard to keep to 60 seconds! And I am SO AWKWARD on video, I hate it ah well, we'll see.

Done mine too, I found 50-60 sec to be generally ok. My last answer was the shortest. Anyway, good luck to both of you!

I just checked my emails and I'm through to the next part(company interview). Absolutely bricking it and having a bit of imposter syndrome right now. Fingers crossed for everyone else 🤞

Thank you! The company interview I don't know yet, they are going to get in touch to arrange but will be between the 17th and 28th. I've had to fill in a few forms/read a lot of info and watch videos on the STAR model. I have a 1 to 1 session booked next week with someone from CFG to go over interview techniques/build confidence.

Hopefully, you will hear soon if it's in order of video interviews, think I did mine on the 24th of March so I expect you'll hear sometime this week/beginning of next if they need to fit in the little mock interview with CFG as well as company interview before the actual course starts, good luck🤞

I don't know if I'll hear back at all, I didn't apply to a company, only to CFG. There weren't any companies recruiting for NI, unfortunately!

Congratulations @camelCase . I haven't heard anything yet. I only a generic email stating that they're going through all the applications and asking to be patient....

I just got an email from the cfg letting me know that I have an interview next week :))) I feel both excited and scared as I'm completely unprepared 😱

@GenevieveTrompke that's brilliant, well done and best of luck! I did my video interview on 31st March and haven't heard back from them so don't think it's looking good for me I'm afraid (assuming that they would have notified successful candidates by now as interviews start next week).

Thank you, I hope that you hear from them soon! If not, then you should try again for their next intake. I read that the September intake is the largest one and they have the highest number of sponsoring organisations.
I also recently came across an advert for Digital Futures and from what I read it's a similar scheme and they're looking to sponsor candidates on 2 years' internship with different companies. Possibly worth having a look. Unfortunately they don't have a sponsor in data in my area, otherwise I would've applied

I still haven't heard from the company about an interview with them but I'm wondering if they have to wait until I've had my interview with CFG.

Hi @camelCase I've not heard back yet either but I rechecked the details of my course the other day and a job is not actually offered at the end (company is sponsoring & offering mentorship) so I'm not sure if I'm supposed to have an interview anyway. There are two different deadlines for informing applicants of the outcome on their website:

"we will be in touch with all candidates Thursday 27th April 2023 by 5pm on the outcome of their application"

and

"all company-sponsored places will be confirmed Friday 5 May by 5pm"

Just found this thread, also waiting to hear (and found the video recording interview equally painful!!). Just got the generic email saying that everyone is expected to hear by 28th though...

The one I have applied to says "sponsoring places" and "offering potential roles" so not sure they are definite jobs per se...
That said I currently have a (non technical, non coding) job so I am in two minds at this stage about whether I want it linked to an employer or not!

Just an update: I've been offered a place on the course and will be attending a virtual 'welcome session' with the sponsoring company (no interview as no job at the end, although they will mentor students to help secure a job elsewhere).😊

Thanks @GenevieveTrompke and hope you get a good outcome. I've heard they have been offering some applicants a CFG sponsored place instead so hoping it's good news for everyone on this thread either way. 🙏

I've been rejected but offer to fast track (and I think retake interview, which I would probably do) for autumn cohort.
Interview was at end of a fairly long work day and I don't think was particularly good (mind you I'm not entirely sure how to make it better either!).
Maybe autumn anyway, onwards and upwards!

@Rosti1981 it's good that they don't make you do the assessments again but also now you've got a chance to go for one with a definite job offer at the end of it and you'll be better prepared for the process so it may work out for the best. Best of luck and I'll definitely update this thread to give feedback.
