Feeling very downhearted today. 2.5 weeks of very low carb and only a 3lb weight loss. My (male) partner has lost 2 stone 3lb in 5 weeks and we used to weigh the same! I’ve had no pasta, rice, bread etc at all. I used to drink a lot of wine but now have one gin and slim instead in the evening. I’ve always done lots of steps a day, whereas he’s not in work currently, so much more sedentary.
I know he drinks way more than I can in the day but we are both sticking to it 100%. Think cauli rice, spring greens, chicken, fish, death by salad!

I’ve tracked it and I’m eating between 25 and 80g carb per day, mostly the lower number and any carbs are from berries and Greek yoghurt.
Im fitting into clothes I haven’t been able to wear for ages and I feel slimmer but hardly any movement on the scales.
For context, I’m 54, have 6 stone to lose and post menopausal.
Any advice gratefully received; NC to my current mantra! I’m so disappointed- first time I have stuck to a diet in years and it’s still not shifting.

It is shifting and shifting at a real amount, I bet you've changed shape and are less bloated, marathon not a sprint and all that, and also loss is not linear, I have weeks where I'm static then a couple of weeks where I lose 3-4 lb it all adds up. Don't be disheartened. I went from 15'10 to 8'12 I'm now 9'6 and stable. it's a lifestyle change not a miracle diet.

Wonderful that you are fitting into clothes you haven’t been able to wear for ages. That is a sure sign that the process is working and that you are making good progress. It sounds like you are both doing brilliantly. Weight loss will come. Sometimes it comes quite suddenly in fits and starts. Everyone is different .
Could you take measurements, to give you some rewarding numbers that areindependent of scales?
Do you feel you have more strength and energy.? There are so many good things that you are achieving for your body by eating so well, not just weight loss.

Wow, well done on your loss, that’s fantastic! I feel so much better. I’m sleeping well, my skin is great and I have more energy. I’m just impatient but you’re right, definitely a marathon not a sprint!

I did measure at the start so I’ll compare this weekend. I know I’m just impatient! I feel so much better in myself, so I will keep going! Thanks for your response.

Men always lose easier than women! It's a right PITA.

Why do you care about the number on the scales when your clothes are telling you that you're slimmer, and you feel slimmer? What if, in a few months, you have the body you always dreamed of, and the scales still haven't moved? At what point would you cease to care about what you think your 'ideal weight' is?
