So this week I started calorie counting, I'm trying to increase protein which I have done.

For breakfast I have been having greek yogurt and a recipe I got from another diet with quiona and protein powder. I find it keeps me full for hours and i'm thinking maybe I need to switch to low carb so I can stop feeling so hungry on my current calorie allowance.

I did a high protein diet years ago and after a while found I wasn't hungry and just got fed up of food really.

I was wondering if your doing low carb what are you eating? Do you feel hungry between meals?

I don't want to do low carb and high fat or try to get into ketosis, I just think low carb would be better for feeling full.

So what are you all eating which you find keeps you full for a long time?

It’s the protein that makes you feel full. Your body uses 3 x as much energy burning off 1g of protein than it does burning 1g of carbs. That’s why you lose weight. Fuller and higher calorie burn.

If you aren’t looking for ketosis I’d just focus on your protein.

I did low carb for a while years ago. I lost weight (like you do on most diets if you can stick to them), and yes it was the only diet I've ever done that actually reduced appetite and cravings for sweet things. Still very hard to stick to though, because who wants to give up those things for good?!

I did low carb a few years ago too and lost a stack of weight.I did have a fair amount of fat eg cream with berries, goats cheese as well as a lot of protein I found they filled me up more than carbs.

I started yesterday doing low carb again as in six months of going to slimming world I have not lost anything ( my heart hasnt been in it , I do know it works) .

Any advice welcome!

It works really well for hunger, but I always get to a stage where I can sleep and get really constipated, which stops me as I feel awful.

I've been low carb for a few years now and it work very well at keeping my appetite in check.

I find when I eat carbs my hunger increases. In saying that I also eat a moderate amount of fat which keeps me full, though it's predominantly good fats.

High fat Keto was developed to control childhood epilepsy. Keto for weight loss should be higher protein, min 50g good fats and 20g carbs, although up to 100g carbs if happy to do low carb and not necessarily Keto. Ketogains website and FB group is a mine of info as it's science based. Calories still matter. Google tdee and BMI and work out how many calories to consume for weight loss.

I am another one who finds that low carbing cuts my appetite. I just keep stumbling over the first few days.
