Can you tell me about carb cycling for maintenance?

Hello,
I have just lost a lot of weight on a very low-carb diet (not quite keto - too many vegetables!).

I want to keep a low-carb diet for the rest of my life but I cannot realistically say I am never having an apple or a piece of bread, ever.
I have read about carb cycling. It seems it would fit well with my lifestyle.

However what I love about my current way of eating is that I am hardly ever hungry. I am afraid if I go back to eating more carbs some days, I am going to be starving on the low-carb days because my blood sugar levels are going to rise and crash.

Has anyone tried carb cycling long-term and could tell me about their hunger levels?

I don't do cycling but I do have carb days. I used to have them monthly, now it's just on special occasions.
What I found -
Next day/two days I gain a lot of water weight.
I become very thirsty
I can look quite puffy in the morning.
I'm more hungry the following day but it's not unmanageable.
I crave carbs the following day but again not unmanageable.

I used to be keto but now I'm low carb. I'm still trying to find the right balance of carbs/weight and am experimenting a bit.

End of the day your diet has to be unsustainable to your lifestyle. I don't think I could carb cycle but I'm happy having carbs when it's a birthday meal out or anniversary etc.

Thank you very much for your answer. This is exactly what I am afraid of. I can manage the occasional hunger pang very well on keto / low carb, but carb hunger is completely different!

May I ask approximately how many carbs you are eating on a normal, low carb day?

Yes I know what you mean about hunger! Carb hunger has a kind of ravenous, just give me food feel to it! I find my hunger much more manageable on low carb.

I generally eat about 30-40g a day.
It's generally fruit, veg, Greek yoghurt and dark chocolate. The meals I make have more carbs too like stir fry, curries etc. When I was keto I used to stick to more meat and veg rather than recipes.

I still don't eat traditional carbs like rice, potatoes etc. Don't think I will ever go back to eating them regularly.
