I am trying to start keto in the next few days, but I am completely bloody lost!

I started a thread on here a little while ago about wanting to try keto, but couldn't find any info on what I can & can't have, I've signed up to diet dr as someone suggested, but I don't know if I'm being a bit thick, but I still cannot find a full list of foods to have & to avoid? Also, what apps do people use to track their carbs/protein/fat?

I am so lost & so fat!

Are you on Facebook? There is a great group called easy keto uk which has loads of information and advice.

Diet doctor will also have information.

The best way to start is to keep it simple and cut out all the usual carbs - rice, pasta, bread, starchy vegetables like potatoes and parsnips, sugar, grains (cereal, wheat etc).

Your meals should have protein (meat / fish / eggs), green leafy vegetables and fat (butter / olive oil / avocado oil / coconut oil), and you can also have full fat dairy.

If you stick to the above you can't go wrong. Good luck.

Best app is carb manager. It lets you scan and manually search for foods. It will then give you the carb count and indicate wether you can eat that food, limit it or avoid it.

I followed the 2 week intro on diet doctor. That gets you through the first difficult weeks.

Go for it OP. I’ve lost 3 stone without any hassle or being hungry. I eat loads of delicious things. I do stick mainly to diet doctor as can do meal plans and shopping lists which makes it easy for me

Look at the Low Carb Bootcamp threads. Loads of advice, tips and support. The Bootcamps are when a group of MNetters start low-carbing together for mutual support. They run for about ten weeks several times a year. Obviously you can also start whenever you like.
