Low Carb without fresh stuff?

No salad or fresh veg left

What would you have for a low carb tea from store cupboard ingredients

I have had tinned tomatoes with black pepper and feta - which was fine but can’t do that every night 🤔

Depends on what you have but non fresh things:

Nuts
Tinned fish
Oils
Frozen spinach, green beans
Olives
Eggs if you have any
Frozen chicken/meat
Dried TVP or soya mince if higher low carb threshold.
Dries cheese
Dried meats
Pork scratchings
Stock

Shit that's hard. Have you eggs? Cheese omelette?
Tapas style plate of bits:
-cock d meat

  • cheese
-nuts -tuna mayo -cornichons or pickles Anything in the freezer? Prawns fish or meat in tomato or curry made from curry powder and yoghurt/cream/sultanas

Cloud bread (eggs and cream cheese) made into a sarnie with cheese tuna or meat or just toasted with peanut butter or marmite?

What have you got?

After a serious review

Have come up with bean chilli for tonight

Do have tinned tuna and salmon
Do have tinned tomato’s
Do have canilini beans, kidney beans and chick peas
Found two out of date tins of ratatouille !
Eggs yes but They have dubious effect on me lol
Found some tahini I didn’t know we had so hummus is on the cards

Found a salad leaves seed pack and DH has set them up to grow salad ... might take a while

Pork scratchings I would never have though of in a million years thanks - guess when we do shop could put on the list - thank you

Cloud bread thank you yes I think it might be time to try that too

Oh dear. Beans aren't low carb though. In fact they are one of the highest sources of carbs!

yoohooitsme · 26/03/2020 08:39

Oh no - not bean chilli then - thanks

  • I am so used to using fresh things I’m all at sea

Keen not to shop too often as on the flu jab list and don’t want to become a burden

Not diabetic but important to keep my blood sugars down ( got a home test kit and they are a bit high and clearly reactive to carbs)

So plan is to do a shop - batch cook and freeze -maybe

I'd be having the fish and ratatouille. Slightly odd combo but tasty!

How are you so low on food? Can't someone go and get you some?

yoohooitsme · 26/03/2020 11:41

We are putting off the trip to the shops as long as possible in and effort to support the national plan so I was trying to meal plan from what we have

Hadn’t realised till now how much I rely on fresh things

When we do shop I will batch cook and freeze some things for me I think so I can feel confident that the right food stays available

The Diet Doctor website has several articles around eating in lockdown which I've found really helpful.
