Period problems with Keto

I’ve been Keto since the beginning of January this year. Lost 40lbs so far. The only thing is I am pretty much constantly on my period! Has anyone else experienced this? Period for 3 weeks, few days off and then it starts again. I’m currently 2 weeks on with no signs of it stopping. It’s pretty heavy too! I have PCOS so I’m used to hardly getting a period ever. The only change in my life is the Keto so it has to be that? I’ve seen my GP and had a smear which came back normal.

Iirc (and I am not a biologist and this is a hugely unscientific description) oestrogen is “stored” (for want of a better word) with body fat so as you lose it it is released into the bloodstream, so it could well affect your menstrual cycle if there is a quick loss of fat. Would you consider trying low carb but not as low as keto to see if that makes a difference? Otherwise it may merit further investigation
