So last night we was watching tv and I've heard about the "Banting diet" and after, (all be it a small amount of) research seems to be quite a good way to shed some weight and hopefully make you feel better all around as you are cutting out sugar and carbs.

However, I'm quite fussy when it comes to food so need some ideas on meals, I'll give salads a try, and I do like my vegetables. I'm not keen on avocado, mushrooms, onions etc....

Does anyone have an ideas on meals to eat while on Banting diet and any general tips and information? With a 14 month old I can't be bothered making high concentration food that requires a lot of attention due to my toddler being a toddler.

Drinks are also stumbling me, can I drink tea? As long as I cut out the sugar and use full fat milk? I'm happy to drink water but will find it bland after a couple of days, so fruit water seems a good idea but I can't be dealing with making my own. Would shop brought be ok? Or again do I need to watch sugar and glucose content etc?

I thought 'banting' was just an old fashioned word for dieting?

It’s a low carb, high fat, moderate protein diet.
No/ little fruit but plenty of veg-green veg in particular.
Named after William Banting and reworked for today-Google thanks.

Realmealrevolution.com talks about it and seems to have food and drink lists that are allowed on the Banting diet-I looked at the download links as far as entering email address for the actual download-doesn’t indicate you have to pay to download so may be worth a look.

It's basically a ketogenic diet. Google it, it's very much increasing in popularity. William Banting is the man who wrote about his low carb diet in a book called Letter On Corpulence, Addressed to the public, written in 1865. It's the first ever diet book!

I've been keto 2 years and have lost 8 stone. It works!

In the UK we usually just say low carb diet or LCHF (low carb high fat) but it's called Banting in South Africa and Australia after the first person to popularise the low carb approach.

Isn’t that keto ? Ultra strict low carbing ?

I'm following Banting and already sleeping much better and IBS symptoms gone! I downloaded the lists from Real Meal Revolution and bought the book. The recipes in the book are delicious. Highly recommended.
