Hello! Day One Done - anyone want to join me?

Just wanted to say hello and see if any other new starters wanted to buddy up for support and advice?

I've got 3 - 4 stone to lose, all gained AFTER having my DS who is now - god help me - 5. All down to long-term sleep deprivation and sugar reliance, and forming terrible habits. And wine to help me cope with the sleep deprivation,

Anyway, hoping to finally turn things around now that he's finally sleeping (sometimes until 5.30am!). Would love to chat to others who are finding that this WOE works for them.

xx

Hello all, lots of action & good reports, well done. As predicted I'm struggling with the holidays, haven't dared weigh either. Our w/e with friends was great fun but lots of alcohol & carbs. Have been dashing around at odd hours, missing meals & then grabbing mainly toast, agh! I haven't given up, honestly, I'm still hopeful I can get on track & lose some before I start eating for Christmas!
Nyc wedding sounds amazing Helena, great motivator for you.
Shark I second shred for results. I just loved that it was quick & doable when you've got small children. Lots of other you tube type stuff but having her shout at me helped!

SharkSkinThing · 30/10/2015 08:37

Hello all. How is everyone doing?

I don't know if it's the crappy weather, half term exhaustion or just a plateau, but I am feeling a bit flat this week.

I've not wobbled on the food, but I did miss a spin due to a meeting at work, but don't feel like I'm going to loose this week, and I so want to break through my first stone barrier!!!

Still, 13 pounds is nothing to be sniffed at, and next week I am adding an extra exercise session, so perhaps that will trigger it.

Anyone else feeling a bit bleurgh? xxx

SharkSkinThing · 30/10/2015 13:30

AND spin was cancelled! And even though I should get a MEDAL for doing 30 mins of the cross-trainer with no music to pass the time, I still feel rubbish.

Maybe it's a full moon...Grin

Well done shark, almost a stone is amazing! You must be able to see a great difference & feel it in your clothes, how exciting!
As I said above, going badly, I'm really struggling to get organised & stick at it, hopefully get on track next week

Thefitfatty · 01/11/2015 07:11

My first week went well. I'm not weighing myself till week 4 so I don't obsess over the scales. Enjoyed my Thursday evening carb meal and really like my berries, nuts and cream for breakfast yesterday. :)

SharkSkinThing · 02/11/2015 06:38

Hi all. Let's hope we all have positive weeks and a good steady loss! I'm due on so expect that's been my issue this week! I'm going to do lots of exercise and be super focused for the next ten days, then treat myself to a take away curry on my birthday!

Good luck everyone, we can do it! Star

I'm back!!

Well done everyone - shark - fab work there!

fit so pleased you feel positive after your first week, great stuff.

ready I have lapsed....so will be joining you in the re-focus group!!!

As mentioned...I have lapsed! It was just too hard/rude to be dictating my needs at granny's farm - I couldn't do it...so toast and high tea was in abundance. So is my poundage...and I am back to 10 st 4. So about 4 pounds gained in a week! I wasn't even that 'bad'..! Have woken up to no eggs or meat or van this morning, so will struggle to get back on it without shop run, but too much unpacking/kid organising to do today - so will make do. tomorrow though, those eggs better watch it.

also have period...which def makes a difference to the weight I think.

Am going to start 30 day shred this week. I have lost inches but not sag, which means I almost looked better with the chub. not what I am aiming for at all! Muffin top. how do you get rid of it??? I am unsure of the existence/status of any tummy muscles after 5 children, but I can bend over, so they must be under there somewhere...

Thefitfatty · 02/11/2015 11:23

Sadly you can't spot burn fat, how you burn fat really depends on your body (if it didn't I would be doing squats all day long to keep my thighs in check ;P) Exercise is great for building muscle though, and muscle looks better then fat and helps you burn fat faster, so it all works out.

Before you start doing any tummy exercises, check this:

If you've got that split then the last thing you want to do is crunches or any normal tummy exercises!

devoncreamtea · 02/11/2015 14:10

Thanks fit! Will check it out.

Bodies eh - who'd have one????!!

readyforsunshine · 02/11/2015 14:21

Welcome back Devon, sounds like a lovely half term. I'll join you on the shred if you fancy a buddy. I have had a couple of days back on focus & dared weigh this am, 10.2, 9 lbs to go. You bfast sounds delist fitfatty, nice change from eggs!

devoncreamtea · 02/11/2015 19:58

Yay! Well done ready!

readyforsunshine · 02/11/2015 20:15

Had a bad day with ds refusing to get up for school then refusing to come back wanting to hang with friends in town, despite me saying he must after this morning. Have reached for the red & now contemplating a bag of twirls from Halloween. HELP!!!!

devoncreamtea · 02/11/2015 21:18

ready glug the wine but back away from the Twirls!!!!!

devoncreamtea · 02/11/2015 21:22

Shred wise - def up for a buddy! I have never known whether you do it everyday or not, last time I did it every day but I hurt my knee and had to miss out the jumping...also, don't think my weights are hefty enough. Doesn't scary Gillian do an abs one?? Might do that too (if I can find my abs..)

Thefitfatty · 03/11/2015 05:10

I thought I wasn't going to get the flu that the rest of my family has succumbed to, but alas I have. Sore throat last night led to 3 rum and diet cokes with lots of lemon and a small bag of crisps. :(

readyforsunshine · 03/11/2015 11:39

poor you fitfatty, get well soon, lots of chicken soup!
Devon I've done it every day in the past but also had knee troubles. I have to miss some bits as too hard for my back too but it was still effective. I started with tin can weights & then bought myself some cheap light ones, something is obv better than nothing. Six week six pack is the abs one, liked that too although I would go gently on yourself until you build up strength after 5 babies! Better to go easy with good form than to injure yourself.
Managed to down 1/2 a bottle of red but avoided the twirls by going to bed early with a cup of tea. Am still up 1 1/2lb so back to 10.3 this am though grrr.
How are you today shark?

SharkSkinThing · 03/11/2015 14:15

Yes, get well soon fit, I hope the self-medication worked!

And hello devon and ready, glad to hear you both had great half terms (incl the delicious food and red wine!). I'm really well, thanks! Wink

Sounds like everyone is edging into a bit of fitness, though that shred thing sounds terrifying! Scary Gillian?! Eek!

I did a bootcamp thing last night, the sort of HIT thing that makes you want to vomit....but hey, I need to up the exercise if I want to break though the first stone barrier this week. Just one little pound will do it!!!

I wonder if there is a way of posting pics of our progress (whenever we feel like it). I'm happy to go first! Might be fun?! Or weird?!

I hate taking pictures of myself, but I'm up for it if everyone else is. :)

rosalux · 04/11/2015 14:51

Hello all. Can I join in? Although perhaps not with the photo bit. I started on Monday after semi low carving for almost a year after DH successfully lost over 3st and managed to control his type 1 diabetes much better on a low carb diet. Mostly my diet is good and carb light, but my downfall has been wine and the inevitable chocolate that accompanies it.mim finding evenings without either really hard and I'm both hungry and full up at the same time. Anyone else get this? I'm hoping to shift the last 7-12 lb I put on after DS2 (now nearly 2) and to lose the bloated feeling I usually have after lunch for the rest of the day. My weight on Monday was 9st 12.5 and I'd like to be 9st, though will be happy with 9st 4. I'm 5'6" btw. Usually I do a fair bit of exercise in the form of home DVDs, mostly Jillian Michaels or pump it lady as she is known in our house. At the moment I just can't face it, however, and am using DH's working away for a few days (and overnight) this week and next as an excuse. Am promising myself I'll get back on it once he's back and I've replaced my disgusting smelling gym clothes with new ones!

SharkSkinThing · 04/11/2015 20:26

Ha, fit it's cool, I was feeling a bit cheeky, I think, to suggest it! Perhaps when we all get where we want to be!

Hi, rosa, lovely to meet you! I know the hungry/full feeling - I seem to always get it on a Weds! Not actually hungry but want to nibble? Maybe a herbal tea will help. Cos that's as good as wine, right?! Wine was my downfall, too. I blame kids!

The new gym kit is a great idea. I bought a new sports bra this week, and it does cheer one up!

You'll lose the weight v quickly, and think how pleased you will be to get it off before Christmas. xxx

BTW, fit, I start Body Pump tomorrow! You are a bad good influence! Smile

Thefitfatty · 05/11/2015 09:15

Great! I'm having a carb day as I'm too sick to cook for myself and DH is strongly suggesting take away. I guess if you can't fall off the diet wagon when you are sick, when can you?

devoncreamtea · 05/11/2015 11:53

Hi everyone
Welcome rosalux -you sound well on your way with the low carb stuff. I understand the wine chocolate struggles. Once we have all established our new approach to food, I reckon the 80/20 rule is good to go...!

I am doing verybadly this week. I think it is a write off, I have lost motivation completely. I weighed this morning and initially scales said 9 stone 8!!! I was amazed. But got back on to check ...... 10 stone. It is like they recognise me. Oh it's her, 10 it is!! At least it has not increased during the post Yorkshire slump...

Everything is hard this week. I think it is the stupid clocks. My kids waking up early and somehow 7pm seems late and I feel like I have no evening. I am just in winter mode. I always forget how crappy some winter days can be.

Anyway had eggs and mackerel for breakfast. And watercress. I like green leaves. It makes me feel like the hungry caterpillar.

Has anyone successful kicked the wine habit? If so, how?? Tips required.....

Has anyone watched Brooklyn nine nine? It is ace! Old series are on Netflix.

Happy Thursday!

devoncreamtea · 05/11/2015 11:55

And fit sorry you're ill. Def OK to let yourself off the hook, especially if it means you don't need to cook! Hope you are feeling better today.
