Just that really. Have done it before but a while ago, it really worked. Would like to lose half to one stone. Have got my Greek yogurt and eggs ready! Also to drink loads of water. Remind me what days the god awful headaches kick in?!

Purple - that must be hard!

MillyDots · 06/07/2014 11:23

I have a lovely cereal breakfast sometimes in case anyone is interested. Its by Linwoods and its Ground Flaxseeds Almonds and Brazil Nuts and there is also a berry one and they are only 0.96gram per serving but it is cereally and rather nice with berries ( I sometimes do have a bit of maple syrup ). I also have it as pudding.

I haven't done it properly for a while as I tried bootcamp and just felt ill. I also seemed to get migraines when on it and gallbladder cramps. Turns out its the extra fat that causes it. So now im doing this non extreme low carb. I know I shouldn't have as its only been one day but I couldn't resist....I jumped on the scales and have lost a pound. Water weight whatever its still a loss. I do not overeat and my weight has stayed the same for years. I have gained about 7lbs with peri menopause and just cant shift it. As I dont eat much anyway I was at a loss to understand why the weight wasn't going. Read John Briffas book and had an inkling that it may be insulin resistance (possibly after a lifetime of diets which I stopped 10 years ago). I dont have a lot to lose, probably a stone and a half but it is bothering me so this is where I am today. Smile

How long did you do Bootcamp for, Milly? It's very common to suffer from carb withdrawal - it's often called carb flu! - but usually it only lasts for a couple of days. That said, if you're suffering from gallbladder problems I can see why you would be put off!

MillyDots · 06/07/2014 13:53

BIWI thanks for replying. I did a version of low carb 10 years ago and kept the weight off but when I started eating too many carbs it went on again. My fault. I tried to do bootcamp last year I think but it just brought on a disordered eating pattern. Plus too much fat and protein gave me terrible toilet issues Blush and then when I had too much extra fat I would get the cramps in the gallbladder. I dont seem to have a problem with my gallbladder only when eating excessive fats but boy is it painful. So I am now careful. I did the bootcamp for a few days before getting very upset and feeling as though I was abusing myself through food which is something that I have issue with since being a child (my Mother put me on a diet from a young age and would tell me I was fat etc (I wasn't) and this led to me being on diets all my life and now I just wont do it). I have been a mindful eater for years (Paul McKenna) so my food issues are much better but as I have now entered menopause the weight just wont move. Hence why I am doing this now. Im not dieting as such just trying to cut back on carbs which seem to stop my body from burning fat.

Hi! Can I join in? I've low carbed before and found it great! Lost weight, no ibs or incessant farting etc etc. anyway as usual, I gave up when I reached target and surprise surprise the weight is back! So, started again yesterday. Had poached eggs and green tea for brekkie yesterday, dinner was chicken legs and peas and sweetcorn(not the best I know but anyway), tea was mushrooms, sausages etc. today so far I've had omelette for brekkie with ham, onion an mushrooms in it, dinner was salmon marinaded in passata, soy sauce, garlic and ginger and buttery leeks and peas. How does that sound? Won't be totally strict but will defo keep away from rice, pasta, potatoes and bread. I'm irish and love my spuds with lashings of butter! :-(

BIWI · 08/07/2014 20:03

Be careful with the peas! (And sweetcorn is one of the worst things, along with potatoes)

MazzR · 08/07/2014 21:20

Ok thanks.

starshaker · 08/07/2014 21:28

oh no i just had a feast (ice cream). Now i feel sick and ive ruined a week of being so good. How bad have i messed up?

Purplehonesty · 08/07/2014 22:05

One ice cream in a week isn't going to wreck all your hard work.

And I've been eating corn on the cob every few days! Didn't realise it was so bad.

I have levelled out at 8 stone which I am pleased with and now doing sit ups at night and not being quite so strict. Will walk more and keep it at this level if I can.

boomoohoo · 09/07/2014 10:41

Hi guys, can I join? Have just started low carbing. Just finished a big breakfast plate of stir fried kale and mushrooms, with olives, leaves and mackerel. I am satisfied, and not bloated! Hooray.

I have a question about tea and coffee, we drink semi skimmed milk at home, is this considered low carb? I've read people having cream in their coffee..?

MazzR · 09/07/2014 12:04

How do I make a nice mushroom sauce or any creamy sauce really, to go with my steak?

Purplehonesty · 09/07/2014 14:51

I use a tub of creme fraiche and grate some cheese in. It's lovely and so so easy!

Purplehonesty · 09/07/2014 14:52

Hi boom. Yeah I think you aren't suppose to have milk but I guess it depends how strict you are being

MazzR · 09/07/2014 19:53

Thanks. And another question (sorry)! Today I had an omelette for breakfast with ham, onion and mushrooms in it, dinner was steak with fried onion and then I made the mushroom sauce with fried mushrooms and cream. For my tea, I had two poached eggs, lettuce and some Serrano ham and salami. Does this sound ok? Good bit of mayo with each meal too...

Plonkysaurus · 09/07/2014 21:40

I stopped posting because I fell off the bandwagon. Silly cake! I'm getting married in two weeks and had to do a wee bit of tasting. And then there was wine. And chocolate.

Anyway, I would like to lose another 5lbs so my dress is comfier. So I'm back on the bandwagon. Nice to see some new faces.

Has anyone tried bulletproof coffee? I had my first one today just after lunch and was impressed. I think that's tomorrow's breakfast sorted!

MsVanRein · 09/07/2014 22:03

Hey,

I'm not strictly low carbing but have started a gluten free diet from Monday so a lot of these meal ideas sound good to me and thinking I may as well go the whole hog and try to do the low carb thing as gf bread sucks anyway!

What are the 'rules' for fruit?

Plonkysaurus · 09/07/2014 22:05

MsVan, rules for fruit differ from bootcamp to bootcamp light. On bc it's strictly no fruit. On bc light you can have a small amount of berries.

Personally I find a handful of strawberries and yoghurt with a dash of cream to be a fantastic small breakfast (I eat like a pig though).

MsVanRein · 09/07/2014 22:12

Oh thank you plonky - I think I am def falling into BC light category then! I think id struggle with no fruit at all.

Will have to have a look at the boot camp threads and familiarise myself a a bit more with it all!

MazzR · 09/07/2014 22:36

What's bulletproof coffee?

ihatethecold · 10/07/2014 06:57

I think it's coffee made with butter and coconut oil!

Plonkysaurus · 10/07/2014 07:48

Certainly is.

MazzR · 10/07/2014 18:26

Guys, sorry for all the questions but how are stock cubes? Namely the aldi beef ones..

Plonkysaurus · 10/07/2014 18:38

Mazz look on the back of the packet - if it's 3g of carbs per 100g or less, then it's fine. They're probably fine.

MazzR · 10/07/2014 19:00

I don't really understand it, per 100ml it's 1.7g and per stock cube it's 7.7g!! Uh oh
