Slimming World to Harcombe?

FourArms · 02/12/2013 11:30

I've been doing SW since 29/8. Initially on EE and now mainly on red days.

However although I've lost 1lb short of 2
stone I haven't lost any weight this week and I've stuck to the plan with the exception of maybe not enough syns / HEB.

Have seen the Harcombe diet and this seems to be more like what I'm doing at the moment although I'll have to swap coffee and skimmed milk for herbal tea and stop my 10 a day satsuma habit ;)

Just wondered what people's losses had been in phase 1 switching from SW? My BMI is still in the low 30s so I've got plenty to lose!

Fantastic Rosina well done !!

Hope all goes well with the scan

kazzawazzawoo · 22/02/2014 10:32

Well done Rosina Smile. I would just view it as a new start at phase 1 after your scan.

kazzawazzawoo · 22/02/2014 23:12

B: bacon, egg and leftover mashed swede fried in butter
L: salmon fried in butter with spinach
D: bolognese with cauliflower
S: 90% choc, small Southern Comfort

RosinaCopper · 24/02/2014 21:58

Scan's done, it was a bit grim and uncomfortable, but thankfully didn't take too long and I was given tea and toast afterwards, which I wasn't going to refuse! So today is written off and I start Phase 1 again tomorrow.

I joined the Harcombe diet website as part of the 30 day thing that I bought, so I'm about to get in touch with them to start my motivational emails. Woo Hoo Smile

(Can't be worse than 'Image Therapy' at SW which I always found a bit cringey 'so, Rosina, you've put on 3 pounds this week, but overall since you started you've lost a pound and you've stayed to class, so well done, that deserves a round of applause' etc etc. I really hated that part of it!)

kazzawazzawoo · 24/02/2014 22:46

Glad the scan is over and wasn't too bad. Can you eat Harcombe style now?

Today I had

B: bacon, egg and fried swede
L: HM chicken soup and salad
D: gammon and mashed swede
S: 90% dark choc

kazzawazzawoo · 24/02/2014 22:46

Sorry, meant to say glad the scan was over fairly quickly! Think I need to go to bed!

Notsurehowthathappened · 25/02/2014 17:34

Glad to hear it is all over Rosina and hope the P1 is going well today.

I am also doing a modified P1 today, trying to get back onto the straight & narrow.

B: Water Porridge
D: Pork Mince, mashed Cauliflower & Broccoli
S: 2 squares 90% (not had it yet so hoping I can control myself and stick to two squares)

Have spent the day working outside today so fairly knackered !!

RosinaCopper · 25/02/2014 18:24

I've had a mostly good day on P1:

B: NLY and 2 slices ham
L: Ham salad
D: BNS curry with 50g brown rice, quorn added
S: NLY

But I've had 3 cups of half caff coffee cappucinos (skimmed milk). That said, a few years back I worked for a company that did blood tests for food intolerences and I know that I am fine with milk, so I don't think I'll need to eliminate that from my diet once I get onto P2

Does anyone know if the Blue Dragon Coconut cream is the same as creamed coconut? It tastes far too creamy and nice to be allowable, but was all I could find in Morrisons!

kazzawazzawoo · 25/02/2014 18:46

Not sure about the coconut cream, but I usually buy the cream rather than creamed ... If you know what I mean!

Dh and I are going to get back to strict phase 1 too after slipping up a bit with beer, wine and chocolate.

Today I had

B: bacon, eggs, fried mashed leftover swede
D: chicken drumstick, HM veg and pork soup, burger with Stilton
S: 4 squares 85% choc

kazzawazzawoo · 26/02/2014 18:14

How's everyone getting on?

Today I had

B: bacon and eggs
L: HM chicken soup, salad
D: chilli with mashed swede
4 squares 90% choc Hmm

RosinaCopper · 26/02/2014 21:12

Hi Kazza, Phase 1 this time around is easier than last time, possibly because I've got my head around it a bit. But I've found out that Quorn isn't allowed on Phase 1, so I'll have to do without that for the next 3 days and see what happens.

The coconut cream is a bit too nice for me to resist - I've been eating sneaky spoonfuls throughout the day, which probably isn't allowed either!

Today I have had:
B: Bacon and eggs
L: Ham salad
D: BNS curry with rice and quorn
S: 1 square of 85% choc

kazzawazzawoo · 26/02/2014 21:55

I only use the coconut cream in BNS curry or any curry for that matter.

Glad it's going well Smile

RosinaCopper · 27/02/2014 20:32

Scales showed a pound on this morning, yikes, perhaps I'll have to give up the morning coffee(s).

Also today I read something about a woman who has given up sugar and she says that she makes coconut butter by getting desiccated coconut and putting it in a food processor for 15 mins to turn it into a cream. I did that today and it was a) delicious, b) a source of fascination for my 3 year olds and c) not allowed on Phase 1. Arrgh! But it has gone solid in the fridge and I don't know how it can be all that different to creamed coconut. I'll use it up in my next BNS curry I think. But very easy to make and very more-ish.

So today I have eaten

B: Half caff coffee, NLY mid morning
L: Roasted sprouts and bacon
D: Roasted sprouts and bacon again, because it was yummy and I had to use them up
S: 1 square 85% choc.

kazzawazzawoo · 27/02/2014 21:56

Rosina, if you can ditch the choc for now and the caffeine and drink 2 litres of water. HTH.

Today I had

B: bacon and eggs
L: salad with Stilton
D: roast chicken, leeks and carrots

RosinaCopper · 01/03/2014 08:54

Weigh in:
15/02/14 148
22/02/14 145
01/03/14 144.5

So just half a pound off in the last 7 days, but given the carb fest last weekend and the cheats I've had this week I'm okay with that. Must try harder to be strict, though, and try and do something when I want to reach for the crisps and chocolate in the evenings!

Notsurehowthathappened · 01/03/2014 09:06

Morning all,

Apologies for my absence. More Broadband issues with BT. They have almost turned my hair grey with their repetitive c..p music and promises that someone will be with me shortly.

Ignoring all that well done Rosina, the scales are definitely moving in the right direction.

I am back at 147 today (have been really good this week) just where I was on the 1st February and 14th January. Am frustrated with myself for the yoyoing but realise that this diet has to be all or nothing. Every time I slip up I seem to be punished by rapid weight gain.

Right now my eye is firmly on the ball. Have a Christening to attend at Easter and need to be 140lb to get into the dress I want to wear.

kazzawazzawoo · 01/03/2014 11:36

Well done Rosina and NotSure Smile

Haven't weighed or measured here, just trying to stay on top of things and eat sensibly most of the time. Life is very stressful at the moment still HmmHmm But my clothes feel ok, don't think I've lost anything, but don't think I've gained either, and that'll do for me right now.

On the plus side, I have the first period after a month of taking the minipill and feeling much better, haven't got the usual pain yet, hope it doesn't kick in later though. I had very painful breasts for two weeks, but not the usual bloating and not much in the way of cravings either SmileSmile

kazzawazzawoo · 03/03/2014 19:53

After wearing my size 14 trousers to work today and being frustrated by how baggy they were around my backside, I tried on my size 12 when I got home and they fit again Smile

Today I had bacon, egg and fried leftover swede for breakfast, HM veg soup and salad for lunch and beef curry with roasted celeriac for dinner. Sadly though had small bar of dark chocolate this afternoon due to stress at work Shock

kazzawazzawoo · 03/03/2014 19:54

How is everyone else getting on? It's very quiet Smile

kazzawazzawoo · 04/03/2014 19:55

Um really struggling with sugar cravings today - partly due to totm I think. Unfortunately gave in today and had a cereal bar and then 2 cadburys caramel bunnies HmmHmm Very annoyed at myself. Especially because I still want more Hmm

B: bacon and eggs
L: HM chicken soup, salad
D: belly pork, mashed swede, green beans

kazzawazzawoo · 04/03/2014 19:59

I did manage to resist pancakes though, just made them for dd Smile

RosinaCopper · 05/03/2014 22:13

Hi Kazza. Well done on resisting the pancakes, it was tough for me!

I staretd back on phase 1 on Tuesday (friend's birthday lunch on Monday) and I am being pretty good I think, but I have a frock I want to wear on Saturday and am hoping to shift a few pounds before then!

Tuesday:

B:Bacon and Eggs
L: Ham salad
D: BNS curry and pasta
S: NLY
Cheats: 1 half caff coffee with milk and 1 decaff with milk

Wednesday:

B:Bacon and Eggs
L: Ham salad
D: BNS curry and quinoa
S: NLY
Cheats: 1 half caff and 1 decaff coffees with milk

kazzawazzawoo · 05/03/2014 23:07

Well done Rosina Smile

I had an awful day at work again today (my colleague is on holiday) and ended up buying chocolate at lunchtime. I'm craving something sweet again and chocolate is my downfall Hmm

Otherwise

B: bacon and eggs
L: HM soup, salad
D: bolognese with celeriac
Very small southern comfort (last drop in the bottle) Hmm

Notsurehowthathappened · 06/03/2014 07:44

Morning both and well done on your lossess.

I am once more yoyoing those same two two pounds. A real plateau if ever there was one!!

RosinaCopper · 06/03/2014 08:49

How frustrating Notsure!

Kazza - do you like coconut? I bought a pack of Pataks creamed coconut sachets (4 x 50g) and ate one of those in little bits as a sweet treat (and didn't add it to my food lists above, oops!)

Also Twinings Liquorice tea is very sweet, but is a bit of an acquired taste. I really didn't like it the first cup I had, but drink it a couple of times a day now.
