Week 9 - Autumn Low Carb Bootcamp - Our Last Fortnight!

Morning all. A quick post today because I have to get to work early.

Here's the spreadsheet

I'm suffering a bit from an IBS flare-up today, which is a surefire indication that I've been overdoing the carbs Sad

So I'm going back to strict Bootcamp for the next few days to hopefully get it back under control.

Good luck everyone.

Am hanging in there, determined not to break my losing streak! Had to go to a chocoholics party yesterday and are several, but I've eaten nicer chocolate. Was on a course today with lunch provided and managed to avoid all the wraps, sandwiches, cake, crisps, fruit, pastry based nibbles etc etc etc and managed to stick to meat kebab things - a bit like chicken satay but I think it was pork. Major effort of will there! And DH is having a curry night and I've avoided all the rice, naans etc and stuck to creamed leeks andushrooms with bacon and grated gruyere. And I'm into my 4th litre of water for the day. I'm on a roll now!!

Gah - I'm finding it hard to get back into this, in spite of my new-found enthusiasm. It really doesn't help that there is a cupboard full of chocolate. I'm thinking of making dh take it to work. Had a slice of bread for breakfast yesterday because there was nothing much else, but at least it did one thing - it reminded me how unbelievably starving I get by 10 a.m. if I eat carbs for breakfast.
So... am re-starting properly today. Buttery 3-egg omelette for breakfast should keep hunger at bay. Loads of water. No carby twattery.

Hello
I am finding it hard to drink enough water but still rather pleased with the relaxed mood I am in whilst on this WOE.

Does everyone else get cauliflower ALL over the kitchen when making cauliflower rice, or is it just me?

Hi everyone. Have been awol for a while. I went on holiday with shocking food so struggled to stay low carb. Came back, got right back on it and then got ill and couldn't eat for days so when I got better I craved carby food and ended up being a carby twat! Back to it now but I'm not being boot camp strict. I am still avoiding the bad carbs but I am eating fruit and nuts. I still have the scales hidden away and won't be getting on them until close to Christmas. I also have an exercise programme that is lots of high fat burning stuff. It's very hard and cost me quite a lot but it seems to be working. I have measured myself so will go by that rather than the scales.

Hope everyone doing well. Will go back and read the threads properly now.

Morning all - back from hols, and absolutely freezing!

I mentioned before that I had spent loads of time people watching on the beach, and I have the following observations.

a. Thong bikinis are never good, no matter how amazing your body is.
b. If you insist on wearing a thong bikini, bending over to pick up shells will traumatise people.
c. Similarly, bikinis with loads of strings, like a spider's web are also not a good look, even if it is hallowe'en.

Anyhow, it was lovely to have the time and space to judge people watch without anything else to occupy my mind. Now that I'm home, I'm back on the straight and narrow. Pleased to say that I haven't gained whilst I have been away. Just popped home to have an omelette for lunch.

Well done to all the losers. BIWi have you ever counted how many pounds you have been responsible for people losing in total. I have a vision of a lard mountain.

I have put on a couple of pounds already but that's to be expected I guess.

Has anyone got any nice noodle recipes I can do with the no carb noodles?

purple be careful with that fruit!

Away for work and eating a bit less than brilliantly. No major carbing; but the food provided has contained lentils and chickpeas etc. Plus I've been eating rather too large quantities! and snacking loads on nuts.

My tummy looks quite round all of a sudden!

Can I rejoin for last week and a bit? Although I've not been a MASSIVE carby twat over the last couple weeks, nuts/wine and then the odd bit of brownie etc has been enough to reawaken my carb cravings! In fact, I really noticed the enticing smell of bread/pastries this morning in Sainsbury's and want to get back to the nirvana of not being hungry or seduced by sugar! So, today, had cream in coffee for breakfast, which filled me up until now, then M&S salad with feta for late lunch. Did a beef casserole in slow cooker this am, so looking forward to that this eve, with some mashed cauli or celeriac – just the job after what looks like it's going to be a nasty, rainy commute home (grey London skies).
And I WILL NOT eat nutella straight from the jar at midnight like last night

My stomach also noticably bigger Lily after getting quite flat two weeks ago. (Still need to lose my lardy arse though)
Will be joining those continuing on chat after end of BC!

Here's a really interesting piece - shows (again) that weight and calories aren't necessarily related!

Although some of the conclusions are interesting - lack of activity still being blamed for weight gain ... Hmm

Look at this just posted by someone on another thread, I found it quite shocking, particularly as I weighed considerably more than the one on the left when I started.

Blimey. scary photos. It's the fat inside that is most worrying . So much of it. I weigh 209 pounds and so I am more like the lady on the left. I did wonder what was going on in there. I am guessing that all the fat is reducing at the same rate and one day that internal fat will also disappear. Do you know I love it here on MN I can say things like that and not raise an eyebrow. If I mentioned it in RL, people would either try to reassure or change the subject.

Just been reading the Biffa book...very interesting as well.

Yes to rounded tummy Googoo! I feel as heavy as if I had been eating cakes etc. I did actually say no to all puddings and chocolate while away, I ate no bread or pastry or cereal or fruit or rice etc. But too many nuts, too many pulses, and I just ate too much - too many seconds!! (I ate chickpea curry and I had seconds. Not very clever!) Also, almost certainly, not enough water.

Ahhh I'm not sure whether I dare check the scales tomorrow!

That scan picture is really scary timid.

Yes Whodunnit I do wonder what actually really happens to the fat. What does it ACTUALLY turn into, how does it leave my body? Does the most recently-laid-down fat go first? or which does the body choose first?

So many questions, so little time so little chance of understanding the explanation

I believe, from what I've read (although this is by no means guaranteed to be the truth!), that it's your visceral fat - i.e. the internal fat - that goes first - so that's really good news, given the potential danger of it.

Your fat, on a LCHF diet turns into energy! That's what you're burning to keep going/stay alive, etc.

you may find this of interest, given that Christmas is coming soon! I don't advocate sweeteners, as you are all (by now!) very well aware, but this sounds like it could be quite a useful pudding.

I'm also going to experiment with my chocolate pudding and see if I can turn this into some kind of cheesecake. Will report back ...

Really good news that the visceral fat goes first BIWI!

The damage appears to be only 2lb up. So I'm still less than 12 stone which is very cheering.

On the topic of puddings for Christmas, I have made this flourless orange cake for our Christmas dessert for the last 2 years, and I have to say it is amazing.

I substitute the sugar for sweetener, but only use half of the sugar equivalent, IYKWIM.

Another quiet milestone I've had is... that about a week ago I could get my wedding ring back on! Now that IS an incentive to stay on this WOE. (I don't think DH has noticed it's back yet... but he did comment a few times mournfully on its absence, in the couple of years or so I've not been able to wear it.)
