So here we are! Over 160 of us signed up!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your first weight

If you aren't on the list for any reason, just go to the bottom of the list and add your name - the lovely Willie will sort out the alphabetisation later.

From experience of previous Bootcamps, the chat thread can move very quickly! So, if you have a specific or particular question, please post it on the questions thread I will do my best to check it as often as I can, as will other seasoned Bootcampers.

If you have a really burning issue, please feel free to PM me and I will do my very best to help you as soon as possible.

And if you're looking for inspiration for things to cook, here's the recipe thread

Here is a brief reminder of the rules:

We do not eat any of the following during Bootcamp:

bread
rice
pasta/noodles
potatoes
flour
pastry
sugar
chocolate/sweets
biscuits/cookies
crisps

And here are the ten rules of Bootcamp:

  1. You must eat breakfast.
  2. Avoid processed food
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10. No sugar or artificial sweeteners

More detail/explanation of these rules is on the spreadsheet ? look at the tabs at the bottom.

One final word from me ? the disclaimer! I am not a doctor, a scientist, a dietician nor a nutritionist. The advice that is given here is based on my own experience of low carbing, as well as the reading I have been doing over the last few years.

If you have a medical condition, or you are taking long term medication, please take advice from your GP/consultant before starting to low carb.

Good luck everyone!

Is coconut bread ok to eat? It says coconut flour - never heard of that. Any idea where I would find that?

BIWI · 12/09/2013 17:32

I bought coconut flour in Holland and Barratt, I think, Purple. I have never used it though, so can't give you any view on coconut bread! I think - from memory - it's about 21g carbs per 100g? Just work out what the likely carb count is going to be based on your recipe. I have to say, though, I suspect it's probably too carby for Bootcamp, although I'm willing to be proved wrong!

Buda - sorry to be nosey but you have Lc before haven't you ? Is it menopause or coil for no periods?

The only drawback for me to LC was getting periods again after 2 years of virtually nothing. However after a couple of months it went back to normal.

I'm willing to accept your theory though Grin

BIWI · 12/09/2013 17:41

I haven't tried a bulletproof coffee. Along with pulling, I still think it sounds disgusting Grin

Ilisten2theradio I'm sorry to hear that Sad

I would hope that once you are off them that you will get rid of the weight - but don't stress yourself about it. Nothing you can do, and pain management is obviously more important.

If you're bloated, could you up your water at all? That can help.

Sending you a (very gentle) hug

Purple the worst withdrawal I ever suffered was when I gave up coffee. You have my every sympathy!

Right how do I navigate sickness and being away from home (in B'ham) and not completely mess up the low carb thing.

When I get home I'm going to look at previous threads because I think I may have been sick.at the start of previous bootcamps too (though I'm only doing the light version this time)

Nigella hope you're ok now. Not exactly bootcamp but would dark choc or peanut butter work if it happens again?

AuntieMaggie · 12/09/2013 18:07

Yesterday I had yogurt and berries, egg and bacon for bfast (in a hotel) A couple of pieces of sushi, cheese and chicken legs for lunch, and roast turkey with veg for dinner and some nuts during the day. I wouldn't have thought that was low carb enough to make me ill!

janmoomoo · 12/09/2013 19:13

Just wanted to brag. Once a month my team meet at head office and we always go out for a rather boozy dinner. I knew I could find something low carb on the menu but was worried what to do about the wine. In the end I just ordered a sparkling mineral water whilst they were deciding on the wine. Then they said are you drinking wine, and I just said no, and they shrugged and carried on pouring their wine and drank it! No problem at all. Pleased I got through it without drinking or having to explain. This diet can make you devious!

BIWI · 12/09/2013 19:21

That's good, janmoomoo!

AuntieMaggie, I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling poorly. Could you have food poisoning, do you think? I see you have had chicken, turkey and sushi, all of which are possible culprits. Hope you're feeling better soon

Nigella - had you had anything to eat in the morning? Sorry you're not feeling great as well

Thanks sybilfaulty. Sorry for the late reply- no mumsnet at work...
Today was interesting...
greek yog with a little double cream for breakfast (i was feeling a little egged out!)
L: DH and I both caught a cold from DD. So we were late up, didn't make lunch etc. But, we went out for lunch and both of us were really good! I had olive oil grilled veg (was kind if a dry ratatoille, but i took the tomatoes out), and a greek salad which was feta, olives, lettuce, a tiny shred of onion and a lemon juice and oil dressing. Dead pleased we resistes the call of all the carbs.
D: low carb moussaka in the oven!

BIWI · 12/09/2013 19:29

Are you doing the IPD moussaka, Roobot? It's really lovely!

Got some coconut oil today. Could I add it to greek yoghurt?

Meant to say - got some full fat mayo at lidl. 1.6g carbs for a 3rd of the price of hellmans at 1.5g carbs per 100g.

BIWI · 12/09/2013 19:50

I must start going to Lidl!

Which coconut oil did you buy? I think the idea of a coconut flavouring with yoghurt sounds lovely! But the HTC one that I have doesn't have any taste.

Purple2012 · 12/09/2013 19:57

The coconut oil is groovy food organic virgin coconut oil from tesco. Its hard so guess I will have to make it liquid.

The mayo from lidl is vita d'or. The yoghurt is eridanous greek style creamy yoghurt. 3.2g carbs per 100g and is in a 1kg tub. Can't remember how much that was but it was cheap.

prettybird · 12/09/2013 19:58

The KTC coconut oil is also solid at room temperature at least in Scotland so wouldn't really mix with yoghurt. Confused

Purple2012 · 12/09/2013 19:59

I will let you know what the coconut oil is like.

dementedma · 12/09/2013 20:00

epic fail. was feeling so shit today after tough day at work that just couldnt face another evening sitting trying to force down more water to get to 3 litres. have had wine Shock
I need help. have been doing ok and lost 4lbs in the run up to bootcamp by just reducing carbs and have lost another 2 since Monday so I can see it works, but I just cannot get 3 litres down me in the working day and if i have to eat another egg or more Greek yoghurt i will kill someone.
Had dreadful headache and sugar cravings today so caved. i feel really disappointed in myself. have i ruined it all or is it worth carrying on.
I have made soup for tomorrow - cauliflower, spinach and blue cheese with cream stirred in, and had steak and green veg tonight cooked in butter but gosh, this is hard now.

NigellasGuest · 12/09/2013 20:01

Beryl Auntie maggie BIWI thanks you - I'm feeling loads better now! Yes Aunite Maggie dark chocolate is a good idea for next time.... it was nothing, just a stupid reaction to a blood test!

Mushroom omelette with celeriac chips for supper Grin

BIWI · 12/09/2013 20:11

dementedma - don't force down eggs or yoghurt if you're sick of them! Eat something else - anything else. Leftovers from the night before, or ham and cheese (like a continental breakfast)

Definitely worth carrying on! The carb flu will only last for a couple of days and you will feel so much better when you get through it.

Your dinner and soup sounds lovely.

Can you take some painkillers, have a relaxing bath and an early night?

The Lidl Greek yoghurt is great value Smile. I also use the Lidl mayonnaise - it's great for squirting in to a home made coleslaw.

Other good things from Lidl for this Way of Eating are the salami, no added water ham and Parma ham (not too much of them of course as they're processed Wink), emmenthal cheese and Parmesan (in fact, any of their cheeses), the free range eggs (only £1 for 6 large eggs or 95p for Medium), the free range whole chickens, the 800g value mince packs (to be made into moussaka, meatballs or burgers), pork steaks, medallions and belly slices, butter, cream.....

Once you are on to Boot Camp Light, there are blueberries and strawberries and 74% cocoa dark chocolate

In fact, Lidl is a great way to mitigate the cost of this WoE Smile

BIWI · 12/09/2013 20:18

Welcome, kotinka! How come you're seeing a nutritionist? And clearly their recommendations were worth following Grin
