So here we are! Over 160 of us signed up!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your first weight

If you aren't on the list for any reason, just go to the bottom of the list and add your name - the lovely Willie will sort out the alphabetisation later.

From experience of previous Bootcamps, the chat thread can move very quickly! So, if you have a specific or particular question, please post it on the questions thread I will do my best to check it as often as I can, as will other seasoned Bootcampers.

If you have a really burning issue, please feel free to PM me and I will do my very best to help you as soon as possible.

And if you're looking for inspiration for things to cook, here's the recipe thread

Here is a brief reminder of the rules:

We do not eat any of the following during Bootcamp:

bread
rice
pasta/noodles
potatoes
flour
pastry
sugar
chocolate/sweets
biscuits/cookies
crisps

And here are the ten rules of Bootcamp:

  1. You must eat breakfast.
  2. Avoid processed food
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10. No sugar or artificial sweeteners

More detail/explanation of these rules is on the spreadsheet ? look at the tabs at the bottom.

One final word from me ? the disclaimer! I am not a doctor, a scientist, a dietician nor a nutritionist. The advice that is given here is based on my own experience of low carbing, as well as the reading I have been doing over the last few years.

If you have a medical condition, or you are taking long term medication, please take advice from your GP/consultant before starting to low carb.

Good luck everyone!

i've bought oxtail in waitrose, along with osso bucco and pig cheeks which are cheap and fabulous slow cooked (i usually do them as stroganoff)

halfthesize · 11/09/2013 13:55

BigKid remember corn and apples are high in carbs, perhaps a food diary might help Smile

giggly · 11/09/2013 13:58

I have the carb flu as well, crashed out after work today (not in UK) with a blinding headache. But managed to avoid the kids sweets and crisps Grin
B. 1 LC sausage and scrambled egg
L. 1 chicken drumstick with avocado salad homemade coleslaw.
D. Shepards pie with swede mash, DH loved it!
S. cabbage in butter.

Having salmon tomorrow just need ideas to go with it....off to the recipe thread.

halfthesize · 11/09/2013 13:59

starrystarry sounds like you are in Ketosis this can increase thirst. How much are you drinking throughout the day?

bigkidsdidit · 11/09/2013 14:00

I know they're high in carbs, that's what I mean - it was entirely without thinking! I'm trying to not pick without engaging my brain. Going well so far today :)

rubybricks · 11/09/2013 14:10

hello all - just checking in - thanks for all the great recipe ideas! am not going to bother posting my menu here as it's just a variation on a theme (which doesn't bother me, really!) but am sticking to the rules apart from having too much tea/coffee - it's the hardest thing for me to give up.

pleased to hear it's going well for everyone - and agree with the poster who said they woke with loads more energy but come early evening they were ready for bed!

am going to try and avoid the scales til next monday, just in case it's not as encouraging as i'd like...

halfthesize · 11/09/2013 14:19

bigkid it will get easier, I was definitely a 'secret eater' before I started this WOE back in April last year. Glad things are more on track today.

I find I have to weigh myself daily ruby to keep me on track where as DH likes to weigh in weekly to see bigger results Smile

NigellasGuest · 11/09/2013 14:23

A good day here so far - I had a 2 egg omlette with butter and a dollop of FF Boursin for lunch.
Dinner - I will do something with last night's leftovers, which was chicken casserole.
Lots of water! I'm getting up twice a night to pee!

Mouseface · 11/09/2013 14:27

Afternoon Campers

Sorry to be awol for ages! I am still going strong, lots going on with Nemo (my DS with SN/LD for those who don't know :) ) and hospital appts for me, physio, acupuncture, hydrotherapy etc and I'm back on crutches as my pain levels are sky high - sorry I
if I've already said that Blush

Anywho.......

B - hard boiled egg, mayo and some crispy bacon bits that I've cooked and stored in the fridge.

L - Prawn mayo salad, with cheddar grated in the top, 1/4 breast of chicken too, I seem to be most hungry during this part of the day so I eat my main meal then.

D - chicken, wrapped in parma ham, served with cream, mushrooms and garlic sauce. YUM!!! Selection of veggies tossed in butter on the side.

W - so far 3 pints, 2 to go.

Snacks will be hard boiled egg, low carb sausage or some ham, with philly in the middle if I get the urge.

I don't really snack to be honest, but I do make sure I'm not going to get caught out!

Well done to everyone who has settled in, those who are struggling and feeling a bit crappy, it passes, I promise. I will never, ever go back to any other WOE. EVER!!

Sorry not to say hello properly to you all, I have lots on with one thing and another!

Lots of love and keep going Campers, YOU CAN DO THIS!!! :) xxx

PassTheTwiglets · 11/09/2013 14:31

What would happen if one were to, ahem, have a day off? Would it knock me right back to the start, having to build up to ketosis again afterwards? It's DS's birthday soon and the thought of not sharing some of his b'day cake with him is horrid :(

MrsSnuffleupagus · 11/09/2013 14:32

Another one just checking in Smile

A good day here too, ff Greek yogurt, cream and cinnamon for breakfast, smoked mackrel salad with olives, feta and mayo for lunch and I think it'll be cauliflower cheese with fried courgette and mushrooms for dinner. I almost had the most almighty slip up earlier- took dc to my usual toddler group, went for a cup of coffee and abentmindedly put a teaspoon of sugar in it Shock Shock Don't worry though BIWI no need for your big stick I realised before I drank it and offered it to someone else Grin

One thing, I am feeling slightly tingly all over today, like when you get lightheaded but I'm not iyswim? Does anyone more knowledgable know if this is to do with the lack of carbs?

halfthesize · 11/09/2013 14:36

Dont do it Passthe as it will knock you out of ketosis. Why do you need a day off?

PassTheTwiglets · 11/09/2013 14:39

halfthesize, I wanted the day off as it's DS's birthday and I want to share a tiny bit of his b'day cake with him...

Mouseface · 11/09/2013 14:41

BTW - I wanted to post this BootsWebMD send me a newsletter....

Have a peek, it's all about carbs and how GOOD they are for you, not quite as black and white as that but have a look at it. I plan to ignore it, obv, as I am happy with this WOE :)

HERE'S ARE THE ARTICALS

halfthesize · 11/09/2013 14:43

The thing is there will always be something/events coming up iyswim. Can you get yourself a nice treat thats low carb instead of cheat? I know its hard but it gets so much easier and think of the results.

PassTheTwiglets · 11/09/2013 14:44

It's more for him, really - I can't bear the thought of him asking "why aren't you having my birthday cake, Mummy?"

Mouseface · 11/09/2013 14:45

PassThe - I had a homemade garlic naan bread last week and spent Sat/Sun on the toilet, (didn't make it on time Blush) with horrific cramps, and puked.

A friend of mine had pizza and she's a low/no carber and was feeling very unwell too.

I've been doing this a few months and I think it was the wheat/flour that did it but I swear, I have NEVER felt so sick and poorly in my whole life just by eating something. It was as bad as food poisoning!

If you can, please resist. It's not worth it, sorry to be a party pooper. xx

halfthesize · 11/09/2013 14:48

I have to say none of my 3 dc have ever even noticed pass.

MrsSnuffleupagus · 11/09/2013 14:49

PassThe I can totally sympathise with you, it was my dd's 4th birthday yesterday, I made her a small cake (we are having her main party and big cake on Saturday) and didn't touch a crumb Sad and do you know what? With all the excitement she didn't even notice! I doubt she'll notice on Saturday either Grin

BIWI · 11/09/2013 15:07

PassTheTwiglets - I'm getting the feeling that you're not really committed to Bootcamp Grin

Please don't have a piece of cake. It will undo all the good that you have done. You will have to start again, and you need to do a solid fortnight of Bootcamp to really ensure that you have switched your body out of ketosis.

Your DS will not notice that you aren't having any cake. And if he does, just tell him that you're full and you are saving your piece for later.

HighJinx · 11/09/2013 15:25

Starry Have you been getting enough salt?

I was super thirsty yesterday and had an oxo drink (along with litres of water) which really helped. It seems counter intuitive to have salt when you feel thirsty but it really is necessary.

BIWI · 11/09/2013 15:27

This is brilliant!

OP posts:
Pagwatch · 11/09/2013 15:33

Well I felt like a big old pile of crap today but I have stuck with it.
I kept forgetting to drink water so I have put an alarm on my iPad every hour. That's helping

I am doing salmon fillet baked with lemon and olive oil with steamed veggies for supper.

AuntieMaggie · 11/09/2013 15:33

FFS - on a course with work and lunch was sandwich buffet with sausage rolls etc despite me telling them I couldn't eat bread/pastry etc!

So I've had a small pack of sushi and some chicken legs and babybel for lunch... I may have a little cry

BIWI · 11/09/2013 16:00

Steamed veg, Pag? Won't be enough fat there ...

Don't cry, AuntieMaggie! At least you have managed to have something to eat.
