The other thread was almost full, so here's a bright, shiny new one.

And here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And just in case you haven't discovered it yet, here is the recipe thread. Some truly lovely recipes on here that are worth a try.

stunt for me, all those berries would kick off carb cravings at the smallest thing - perhaps the days before you are due, cut right back on those and see if that makes a difference? No idea though really biwi will probably be more helpful!!!

BlackAffronted · 11/08/2013 17:49

Just had a lovely roast dinner, butter basted roast chicken with crispy skin, creamy cabbage & parmesan crusted roast swede. Delicious.

Yama · 11/08/2013 18:05

Just had an amazing dinner. Well, the roasted veg was amazing.

Chopped up some courgette and turnip into small pieces and coated in an oil mix. It was olive oil, salt, cayenne pepper, ground cumin and ground parmesan. In the oven for about half an hour - lovely.

I'll par boil the turnip next time so that it and the courgette cook evenly.

By the way, the Toulouse Sainsbury's Taste The Difference sausages are delicious. 1.7g per 100g.

StuntNun · 11/08/2013 18:07

Really HP? I usually have five strawberries sometimes six as a special treat, today it was probably about 40g blueberries = 6g of carbs. I suppose I'll be cutting down on those anyway when the berry season ends. Hmm Breakfasts are a problem because I can't eat eggs and I rarely have time to cook anything while organising three children, the dog and the cat and the husband. Maybe once the boys are back at school I could delay my breakfast until DS3 has gone down for his morning nap and I'd be able to spend more time preparing it. Yoghurt and berries are easy to grab and eat.

Sounds delish Black.

Oh, and here is an interesting article written by a heart surgeon saying that sugar and flour (and other processed food ingredients) cause heart disease.

Apologies if it has been linked to already

sybilfaulty · 11/08/2013 18:19

Hello everyone

I have been a carby twat for the last week but am now back and raring to go. There is a week til my holidays so I am hoping to flatten my tummy a little and keep the carbs under control. Might try uber camp Tues, Wed, Thurs.

Hope everyone is well Smile

BIWI · 11/08/2013 18:19

I assume that you're doing Bootcamp Light, StuntNun, with all that fruit?

You meals look fine to me. I'm wondering, though, if as you get more used to this WOE things will sort themselves out? Lots of other low carbers talk about PMS symptoms being significantly reduced or disappearing altogether.

It could be that your blood sugar levels are still spiking a bit too much - and I would suggest that it might be worth knocking the fruit on the head for a few days. Perhaps substitute eggs for breakfast for a few days? (Or some other protein)

But if you find you have the cravings, I'd certainly say avoid banana/apple - if the suggestion in that link is correct, that it's about hypoglycaemia, then eating something so carby/with so much sugar is only likely to make that worse.

I would be inclined to increase the carbs you're eating from vegetables, as you're not really eating that much veg (I'd be prepared to bet that a lot of your carbs are coming from fruit) and to add some slightly more carby veg into the mix - so butternut squash, for example. Even a couple of new potatoes, if you have to.

Make sure that you are getting plenty of sodium, magnesium and potassium in your diet too - salt, avocado, salmon, spinach, mushrooms and asparagus.

I feel for you, because I occasionally (when I've gone off plan Blush) get that jittery feeling, and it's horrible.

Thank you for the sage advice as always BIWI, I'll make the changes you suggest apart from you will never, ever persuade me to eat an avocado - yuck!. I seem to be getting away with a slightly higher carb diet but I suspect that's because my calorie requirements are above average due to breastfeeding. As I get nearer my ideal weight I expect to need to get stricter to keep losing weight.

MrsHerculePoirot · 11/08/2013 19:17

I am diabetic though (type II) and I just know for me that I can't really have berries at all - even a few really stall me, make my blood sugars go sky high so I just avoid them. More carby veg like butternut squash aren't so bad for me in slight moderation! Then again I also find Greek yoghurt in anything less than minute portions also stalls me and raises my blood sugar so who knows!

BerylStreep · 11/08/2013 19:48

Nigella The VGB app is on the iPhone, but I don't know if they do an android version as well.

Secondsop · 11/08/2013 19:54

stuntnun biwi has got there before me re the sodium, potassium and magnesium - craving crisps and banana I wonder if there's a bit of an electrolyte issue. Perhaps try having a cup of consommé a day?

StuntNun · 11/08/2013 19:56

Sounds yum Secondsop, do I have to make it myself or can you buy it?

I just had Crabby's slow roasted pork belly for dinner with buttered leeks and roasted broccoli. It was divine Crabby!

Secondsop · 11/08/2013 20:27

Stuntnun I think you can just use bouillon powder.

Dumper · 11/08/2013 21:34

Thanks for replies. I had a feeling sunflower oils wasn't great.

I don't think I've done too bad for my first day, not killed anyone for a bag of cheese puffs yet but will stick around!

Gonna go read recipes and rules etc.

LilyAmaryllis · 11/08/2013 22:48

By the way Black congrats on that 10lb loss!

I had a weird afternoon of feeling really hungry. We drove back from holiday and there was nothing left to make a packed lunch out of... got home about 2.30pm and made a lunch out of the only available ingredients (broccoli, cheese and eggs - cheesy broccoli and scrambled eggs - using 2 eggs as well!) Despite this I was just ravenous. I bravely resisted toast, sandwiches, fruit (all the things the kids were eating!) Maybe it was just having a late lunch, I couldn't "catch up"? I felt much better after tea (after DH had been shopping to get some food in the house!).

Dreamingofcakeallnight · 12/08/2013 09:00

Hello all. Just wondering when the September boot camp is planned to take off. Going to join!

NigellasGuest · 12/08/2013 09:14

Beryl I've only got a blackberry so looks like that's out then!

primallass · 12/08/2013 09:27

Back on the wagon today as I have been horrendous. Kids back to school on Wednesday so it will get easier then.

IBO · 12/08/2013 09:37

Morning ladies :)

I am into my third day of ubercamp. It is not as hard as I thought, tbh it is probably even easier as menus are given and you can plan your meals 3 days ahead. I am snot starving and not craving for anything but.... I haven't lost any weight!!! I was a bit disappointed this morning.. Is it becaise I had Margarita and Mojito on Thursday?? or maybe I am expecting too much too quickly. I started end of July and have been off the wagon few times and I lost 4 lb. first week and my weight stalled now..

I didn?t get celeriac anywhere so I made swede chips instead and they were delicious!

BIWI Chocolate and raspberry liqueur ice-cream sounds absolutely delish..

StuntNun · 12/08/2013 11:00

Join now Dreaming and get a head start! We'll support you. I'm going to do ubercamp and bootcamp (currently on bootcamp light) at the start of September, from Monday 2nd if anyone wants to join me.

Secondsop · 12/08/2013 11:10

I'm up for a "new term" bootcamp in sept - I go back to work after maternity leave on 2 September so could do with being kept on the straight and narrow.

StuntNun · 12/08/2013 12:06

Could you do ubercamp when you're back at work Secondsop? Or we could do ubercamp from the Friday before then bootcamp on the Monday so you're not so restricted about what you can eat.

Secondsop · 12/08/2013 12:36

I could do ubercamp at work, y, - there's a fridge in the office.

Secondsop · 12/08/2013 12:40

Where are the ubercamp rules? I can find the menus and shopping lists but I'm happiest devising my own food within a set of rules.

Dreamingofcakeallnight · 12/08/2013 12:51

Thanks ! I'm doing day 1 of ubercamp. Just had the lovely tuna mayo wraps.

I love this way of eating. Lost a stone in April/May. Fell off the wagon in spectacular style over holidays and haven't been able to get myself into the right frame of mind to get back into it. A biscuit here, crisps there and I need a kick up the ass! 3 days of ubercamp are a good start!
