I ate a very large chunk of Wesleydale with cranberries cheese. I wasn't even hungry, I was flagging and needed a treat. Anyone know if the carb content is high with this cheese, dh had thrown away the wrapper so I couldn't check. Thanks.

Cheese doesn't have many carbs. There'll be a teensy bit in the cranberries, but I don't think you are dooooooooomed.

MelanieCheeks · 27/06/2013 20:21

Just checking- you ate the cheese by itself, or on crackers or bread?

bulletwithbutterflywings · 27/06/2013 20:28

I just ate 2 oreos and I'm having PB&J for tea - that is a fuck up!
You'll be fine I'm sure :)

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 27/06/2013 20:34

bullet - what do you think you are doing??? Do you need me to glue your arse to the bloody wagon as well?

Sylvanna - nah, not the end of the world, drink lots of water and eat properly tomorrow - you'll be fine.

bulletwithbutterflywings · 27/06/2013 20:51

You can glue it back on tomorrow Chipping Grin I am poooorly and miserable - don't tell biwi!

CaptainSweatPants · 27/06/2013 20:56

what's PB&J??!!

I thought low carb was all about eating cheese just without the bread or crackers

bulletwithbutterflywings · 27/06/2013 21:03

Peanut butter and Jam Blush

bulletwithbutterflywings · 27/06/2013 21:03

Love your name BTW...

I just ate the cheese on its own - it was yummy. I have tried to cut down on cheese and Greek yogurts because I read on one of these threads that they can slow up weight loss. I am doing very well otherwise (not hungry) but I haven't lost that much weight. I am on the plan for nearly a month now and I've only lost 4 pounds. I am exercising every day - could that be impacting my weight loss?

It could be Sylvana, My weight loss has been very slow and I exercise a lot. I also only have a stone to lose, I think its harder when you are close to your goal weight too.
(I don't usually cheat BTW - I was absolutely en pointe up until this past weekend!)

MelanieCheeks · 28/06/2013 09:19

4 pounds a month sounds great! I think you're in danger if mixing up too many plans. Go low carb if you want ( what are you using for guidance on what to eat and what I avoid), but that will mean lots of cheese eggs and meat. Yoghurt s are something you have to read labels on- flavoured ones will have a lot of added sugar ( ie carbs) whereas plain Greek stuff is probably ok. Depends a lot on what daily carb limit you're aiming for .

BlackAffronted · 28/06/2013 16:42

That's 1lb a week - very acceptable and normal!

Happymum22 · 28/06/2013 20:12

I've really lost motivation.. Had a number of slip ups, but big ones. Mostly from eating at others houses/out and there being no option.

Today I have been good, I had some berries for breakfast, chicken and salad for lunch and pork chop and veg for dinner... Then I blew it with two of these homemade biscuits (quite small) that my DD made.
I just think 'i'm eating so much less than usual that surely that alone will make a difference'

It is all just so frustrating the novelty had definitely worn off. I am in a good routine of NEVER having potatoes/bread/pasta/rice/chocolate/sweets/(biscuits until today)/cake/crisps/any drink but water and I am fine on days at home. It is just as soon as I go out! I have three weeks until my holiday and really want to 'get on it' again before that.

Sylvana · 28/06/2013 22:38

Happymum22, did you have the berries on their own for breakfast, no protein ? I have been on this for a month now and I'm doing great with the food, I'm really enjoying it and haven't been hungry at all. Why don't you do the bootcamp to get you motivated again.

Happymum22 · 28/06/2013 23:14

I did today, I don't usually. I just got up late as it is my day off work and DC are back from uni/away on a school trip so I had no reason to be up!

I usually have eggs with something!

I never did bootcamp, I started off on Atkins, did two week induction and lost nearly half a stone. I then went away for a long weekend and put almost all of it back on, started again, then had the same issue this last weekend as I went to a dinner party. I am now hoping to start 100% from scratch tomorrow. Doing some 'motivational' reading on the atkins site and forums.
Would you recommend the bootcamp over atkins?

notapizzaeater · 28/06/2013 23:17

Lots of stuff on www.halfcost.co.uk delivery is a bit slow (normally about 2 weeks) but you can get some real bargains - suggest you check every few days ....

notapizzaeater · 28/06/2013 23:18

Sorry don't know how to link on iPad ....

Happy, I saw a post on here somewhere that if you fall off the wagon and have a carb laden meal or a carb laden weekend, you can gain several pounds, up to half a stone! That would explain how you gained weight after your weekend away and dinner party. That one nugget of information just clicked with me. I won't be sabotaging my efforts this time - I would have in the past but not now. Also, i find if you break out and have carbs you kick start the cravings in your system - you really are better off abstaining totally and you will never be tempted.

I have been invited out for a meal tonight (Chinese restaurant). I was nearly going to opt out (fried rice, crispy noodles!) but I have decided to go. I have planned in advance what I will order - ribs for starter and stir fried veg with my main course - I will avoid the overly sweet dishes like sweet and sour and order Cantonese duck with bean sprouts. There are always other options.

The bootcamp on here and Atkins are very similar, you just have the added advantage of the support on here - which is fantastic. Good luck on your re-start, it will be worth it!

Thanks, I will have a look. And gosh! That is great motivation knowing slip ups can lead to all your efforts being pointless.
I just find it frustrating that I am eating around 20-25g carbs a day and a calorie deficiency of 500. I have (ok, with two blips) done 3 weeks of this and while I have lost some weight, it is barely anything. I used to eat probably nearly 200g carbs a day at least and often probably 2500 calories. In moments of frustration I think, I am eating so so much less than before so why is the weight not going?!

Anyway, I know it is a lot harder to loose it than put it on, and at least I'm not gaining!

My problem with dinner parties/going away places is that my friends are all larger than me and if I ever even mention I am trying to loose, I think they find it almost offensive or then feel a bit guilty/get defensive. I always get comments like 'don't be silly, look at us! you need to get some more food down you, not less'. I'm a size 14 and my BMI is within healthy, but to the top end of it. I have been unhappy with my weight for a long time and so this is really important to me but they just don't get it!
