OK. It has come to my attention that there has been a lot of slippage going on over the last few days

Low carbing is not a very forgiving way of eating. It isn't like following a low calorie diet, where one meal or one day can compensate for another.

If you're low carbing then you have to commit to low carbing all the time.

Once you reach your target weight, then this isn't necessarily the case, but whilst you're losing weight, you really do have to keep your carbs low. If you don't, then all you're doing is constantly messing with your blood sugars.

And, if you have a massive increase in carbs, you are constantly re-filling your glycogen stores, which means your weight could go up by as much as 7lbs. And you're stopping your body shifting from carb-burning to fat-burning, because you're having to deal with all those pesky carbs.

So, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to confess all

Let's make sure that we really commit and get shot of that weight.

Just thought I'd let y'all know M&S stay chicken and BBQ chicken skewers are delish and perfect when you're whizzing round town with no time for lunch!
I was a bit naughty today and didn't eat anything until 2.30 - I was soooo busy today! I had bulletproof coffee for brekky, then went to the gym and drank a litre of water then had to rush into town to get the bits I needed before picking the boy up. I also had a little carton of Kara coconut milk to keep me going. I've now had some almonds too so I need to veg out up at dinner I think!

NewStartNewStory · 22/05/2013 16:30

I am struggling atm and have gone back to controlling food. As little as humanly possible. Did eat scrambled eggs for breakfast. But haven't eaten lunch. Wasn't hungry - or didn't let myself be hungry. Need to sort my brain out i think. I suspect it is stress. but really need to stop with this all food is bad nonsense. Biwi could you suitably apply the big stick. I really do need some sense knocking into me.

MrsFlorrick · 22/05/2013 16:32

Afternoon everyone. I know I am a late joiner (shirker) here on boot camp so thanks for all those recipe ideas posted. It helps me along.

Right. I need some help to find the whoosh fairy everyone keeps talking about. How do I do this Uber camping thing ?

I desperately need help as I go on holiday in 3 weeks for the first time in 3 years. And I went swimwear shopping today and it was bad.
And ideas of banishing some cellulite quickly!! Pleeeeeease.
Very desperate here.
Any advice appreciated.

milliemoomay · 22/05/2013 16:33

Thanks Willie for fixing the spreadsheet.

I'm still off the cheese as I think it doesn't agree with me. Lved the idea of trying something with coconut so have concoted a brussel sprouts with coconut spicy veggie thing. It's a bit odd tasting but it's going to have to do.

Mary.. I like your inspiring words - thanks.

bulletwithbutterflywings · 22/05/2013 17:03

Try body brushing MissFlorrick, and drink LOTS AND LOTS of water (which you should be doing anyway Wink) also I think rubbing coffee into cellulite is supposed to help.
Ubercamp is a tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

QueenofDreams · 22/05/2013 17:03

Ok so lunch was a courgette, cauliflower and pak choi soup.

Dinner will be salmon fried in butter with celeriac and spinach dauphinoise and braised kale.

Just had a boiled egg for a snack.

Loving the inspiring words on this thread!

MrsFlorrick · 22/05/2013 17:07

Bullet. Thank you so much!

Generally prefer drinking coffee to scrubbing in it. But after trying on swimwear in four different shops today, I realise I need a serious miracle.

I do drink lots so that will help. I heard that LC would help but not seeing any evidence at present.

Off to check out über camping

snowballinashoebox · 22/05/2013 17:37

Mrs florrick make sure you brush up towards the heart. I reckon every day for 3 weeks and maybe some gradual tan as well will make quite a difference.

AuntieMaggie · 22/05/2013 17:42

Well done couch I almost always end up eating things out of guilt when someone has provided them though I have trained my team now so they make sure I have something else to eat (though they forget about potato sometimes but remember no bread/pasta/rice). I telk people I can't eat these things because of my blood sugar which isn't a lie but I just don't say and weight loss.

My bfast atm is always yogurt and berries (unless the hotel does bacon and egg) while I'm away I've been having M&S packets of stuff - today was two chicken legs and olives. I wasn't keen on the satay chicken or the tikka prawn and calamari but others may like them. The cocktail sausage packs are 4g carbs for the pack so not as good as the chicken but helps if you need snacks.

Can you tell I'm waiting to go to dinner?

On this woe quite often my stomach will be gurgling loudly long before I'm actually hungry - does anyone else get that?

couch25cakes · 22/05/2013 18:10

Luckily I was only out for the day so am now home having had the most delicious tea - last nights koftas with buttered cabbage and courgette strips fried in the oil of a couple of slices of chorizo. I feel much better now after a very queasy ride on a pendolino train!
Thanks for all the support, this is a great thread.

Yama · 22/05/2013 18:41

Evening all.

I'm going through a different salad phase for lunch. At the moment I am mostly having:

Spinach, cucumber, parma ham, goat's cheese and olives (all from Aldi). A dash of ev olive oil and a splodge of mayo finish this savoury treat.

I've been putting sheep's cheese into my scrambled eggs in the morning - taste sensation.

MrsFlorrick · 22/05/2013 18:54

Snowballinashoebox. Thanks. I will give that a serious go starting tonight.

I do swim regularly and go hard at it and that used to work pre-DC but no longer seems to have any effect. Hmm.

MrsFlorrick · 22/05/2013 18:57

Oh and meals today:
B: scrambled egg x2
L: tuna and salmon sashimi with seaweed (nori I think and BIWI there was no rice or dressing or soy sauces anywhere near any of it)
D: will be cod in butter with asparagus in more butter.

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 22/05/2013 19:10

I just served DS a bowl of soup/chowder - which he 'assumed' was cream of chicken... I didnt correct him that it was cauliflower soup/chowder and he said it was delicious. Grin

This from the child who cant stand cauliflower/brocolli. mwahhahahaaa

DD - who will happily scoff ALL veg, didnt like it.
Kids are bloody strange creatures.

ToomuchIsBackOnBootcamp · 22/05/2013 19:32

Evening all,

B 2 egg omelette with extra bacon lardons
L salad with feta, coleslaw and oil, pâté spread on cucumber sticks

Yama, what kind of cheese do you like best for scrambled eggs? Sounds good.

ZimboMum · 22/05/2013 20:05

Why oh why has it taken me 29 3/4 years to try swede chips???!! Totes delish Grin

D: chicken with mozzarella wrapped in Serrano ham with swede an Parmesan chips and a mish mash of stir fried veg that needed eating - broc, green beans and sugar snap peas. Yum.

HeirToTheIronThrone · 22/05/2013 20:37

Just made a gorgeous shepherds pie topped with buttery swede mash... A question - how carby are Brazil nuts? They had big bags in Lidl and one may have jumped into my hand...

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/05/2013 21:10

marybeard loved those words!

Lunch - prawn and avocado salad
Dinner - salad, smoked salmon and lamb

decaffwithcream · 22/05/2013 21:12

B- one egg omlette with salmon
L- scrambled egg, sausage and mushrooms with mayo, coffee with cream (out)
D - avacado, sour cream, cucumber and cheese
S- small cup lidl yoghurt, black espresso

CiderwithBuda · 22/05/2013 21:37

Hello all. I'm doing well I think. No cravings. Could do better at the water drinking though. Actually I was tempted to snatch a banana from a random child today - does that count as a craving? Or something more sinister? Grin

B - Ham and cheese and onion deli filler
L salad with feta, cherry peppers w ricotta, avocado and yet more cheese and onion deli filler! (Bought it from Sainsburys not realizing it was right on use by date so had to use it)
D was delish. Pork belly with lots of lovely crackling. Cauliflower cheese with creme fraiche, mustard and cheese. Leeks fried with chorizo and spring greens. Very tasty.

DH is enjoying me doing low carb as I'm cooking more. He normally does a lot of the cooking.

MaryBeardfanclub · 22/05/2013 21:51

just reporting back on my tea, sublime salmon steaks with ginger butter - so simple, so unbelievably tasty, highly recommended:
mash lots of butter with fresh grated ginger, split in 2 - fry salmon steak in half ginger butter then deglaze the pan with a little soy sauce; place the remaining butter on top of the hot salmon and devour! I served with cauli rice and greens wilted in chicken fat - yum

I'm making cream cheese pancakes for the freezer now as there was a tub of open cream cheese in the fridge gradually going off

DP did not like the flax bread - I had a slice when I got in from work with butter on top - the usual strange texture from flax and salty. Hmm, going to slice and freeze, maybe try as toasted cheese one day Hmm

does anyone have any failsafe bbq ideas for a novice, planning on doing lots of cooking outdoors this weekend, whatever the weather

QueenofDreams · 22/05/2013 22:06

mary for a bbq I'd suggest homemade peri peri chicken, if you're ok with spice food. It's dead easy to make as well, and should be pretty low carb. The peri peri marinade has some onion in it, but you're not eating loads of the sauce, just a coating on the chicken.

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/05/2013 22:10

Mary anything tastes good on a BBQ. Out favourites are lamb marinaded in olive oil, garlic and rosemary overnight.

Courgettes are always good slices brushed with oil and then chucked on.

Asparagus brushed in oil then bbq'd also nice!

Keep a small thing of oil/butter nearby and a brush to sort if brush with occasionally as you turn things.

Other nice things are kebabs - lamb with halloumi, or monkfish and chorizo

QueenofDreams · 22/05/2013 22:12

Tuna steaks are great BBQd
And also steak, as long as you don't overcook it
Lamb chops are great as well.
