My ultimate aim is 133lbs, but short term I want to get - and STAY - below 140lbs. Currently hovering around 142 ish, but really struggling to get any lower, so need a bootcamp to see off a few lbs.

I'm with you Castlerigg. Pretty much the same weight and ambitions.

BIWI · 29/09/2026 13:52

Just a heads-up, which I'll also post on the prep thread - I'm away from tomorrow until the weekend, so won't be posting much until then.

I really should lose a few pounds pre Christmas.
Can you do this if you have high cholesterol?

Generally your lipid profile tests should improve when you switch to a low carb diet although LDL can increase a little. If you have any concerns then get your blood tested in a few months time so you can see whether there’s any change. Some people with persistently high cholesterol or familial hypercholesterolaemia choose to prioritise monounsaturated oils such as olive oil, avocado oil and nut oils over saturated fats such as butter and high fat cuts of meat. Fatty fish are another good source of healthy fats, the omega-3 fats are proven to be beneficial to heart health. On a personal n=1 note, I’ve been on Bootcamp Light since 2013 and my cholesterol levels are excellent despite both my parents suffering from high cholesterol when they were my age. My triglyceride levels are so low, they can’t be detected accurately by the standard blood test.

@BIWIthanks so much!

WinterfellsStarbucksConcession · 29/09/2026 15:28

Thanks for that @StuntNun I’ll try to prioritise the recommended fats & oils 👍

Forgive me BIWI for I have sinned. It’s been several years since I last low carbed. I have strayed far from the path. My love of butter and cheese has not diminished, but my intake of carbs has crept up and I have become rotund. Starting at about 74kg and hoping to recapture my slinkier weight of 63kg…. Good luck all!

Late joiner please. Had a tricky year and strayed a bit, would love to loose the 10lbs I keep not losing 😊 - timing is perfect too. Thanks as ever @BIWI and @FinallyHere
