Evening everyone!

I'm starting the first week's chat thread this evening as I know everyone will be chomping at the bit to get going tomorrow!

First, and most importantly, here's the link to the spreadsheet

You'll see that it's now got a bit of colour coding going on. There are several posters who have said that they don't want to be on the spreadsheet, so they are on there, but greyed out - so I know who is/isn't wanting to talk about their weight.

If you're said you're a vegetarian, your row will be coloured green; this is important, so that we know how to advise you about foods (or rather, not to tell you off if you're eating nuts/fruit/seeds when you're allowed to, as a veggie!)

If you haven't seen the spreadsheet before - or even if you have! - have a good look around it. As well as Bootcamp rules, there's loads of helpful information on there (look at the tabs at the bottom). I've revised the vegetable carb count, which now includes some more veg.

If there's anything that isn't clear

Good morning and hi-de-hi campers!

As suspected the Belfast weekend and subsequent week has resulted in me not seeing a 10 number. Ah well. Perfect timing then!

Looking forward to continuing my low carb journey with everyone.

Thesoundofmusic23 · 13/05/2024 10:08

Morning all, thanks @BIWI and @FinallyHere for setting it all up. Despite a bit of wayward eating and drinking I have had a small loss since the last boot camp. Think that’s mostly down to massively upping my exercise which I am loving, but I think it will be a gentler week this week as have lots of social commitments. The diary is bulging for the next two or so weeks so I think my biggest challenge will be the no alcohol for this two weeks. I love this way of eating though and my body shape is massively changed since I joined you all in January. Busy sorting through clothes now and lots are too big now and some old ones I miss wearing fit again which is fab. My goal for this boot camp is to get bellow 140 and maintain at that level.

ffgy, cream and cinnamon for breakfast. Blue cheese salad for lunch and egg fried cauliflower rice and veg for supper today.

Good luck everyone.

Thesoundofmusic23 · 13/05/2024 10:10

By the way @FinallyHere my weigh in weight was not showing in the box so I changed the text colour which made it show but I think others may have the same issue.

BIWI · 13/05/2024 10:17

@DrBlackbird don't be nervous!!! Honestly, just follow Bootcamp rules and you'll be fine. Anything you're not sure about then ask here, on the chat thread (or PM me if you want).

@EasilyDeterred stones to pounds is an easy conversion though - there are 14lbs in a stone, so if you weigh 10 stones and 6 pounds (say), then your weight is 146lbs.

That said, if there is a way of adding a conversion button to the spreadsheet @FinallyHere then that would be great.

The other thing to check, though, for those of you with digital scales, is whether or not you can change it on the display. My scales have a button underneath which means I can weigh in kilo, or stones/pounds or just pounds.

@MissBeck - don't be afraid of the spreadsheet Grin. All you have to do is enter your weight - nothing more. But I would say that when it comes to weighing, if you're weighing in the evening then you're weighing yourself plus everything you've had to eat/drink that day. So you will be heavier than if you weighed in the morning.

@LilianaVikavanovich - another holiday?! Very envious Grin

@Stowickthevast yes, you can use lemon/lime juice. When I was revising the carb counter I've entered carbs counts for those - the juice of both is very low in carbs, at 1.6g carbs per 100g. (Orange juice is a very different story though - that's over 8g)

@BigGreenCookieMonster You're very welcome! I suspect the very lovely @FinallyHere will be along shortly to add you to the spreadsheet. You're fine to enter your tomorrow's weight - or any day of the week that you choose. It's only Monday that we tend to do because that's when I start the new chat thread.

Sounds like you've had/are having a lot going on @NigellaAwesome - hopefully we can all help you to get to that target. Great start so far! Flowers

@BIWI Morning, thanks for the thread. I am greyed out but not supposed to be, can you unlock me please? 😊

headstone · 13/05/2024 10:20

I will be weighing tomorrow on my works super accurate scales. Today I had eggs and low carb veggi sausages and black coffee, hopefully an acceptable breakfast to begin with.

While that sounds intriguing @prettybird, I think you've posted on the wrong thread!

@headstone - sounds OK. What brand of sausages are you using though?

I reported my post immediately! Blush

I know the thread you mean though, so will have to go and have a nosey now!

I started off my day with a green tea and eggs scrambled in butter. Now having a coffee with cream, which is my absolute favourite thing about low carbing!

Lunch with be salad with an oily dressing with tuna and mayo.

Dinner is chicken marinated in tikka paste and Greek yoghurt with more salad. It's a salad-heavy day but I think the temp will drop tomorrow and I'm embracing the nicer weather while I can!

headstone · 13/05/2024 10:33

It’s called This isn’t pork sausages BIWI, they are 6.1 g of carb per 100g , is this too much? I know they are processed though so if I limit them to once a day.

prettybird · 13/05/2024 10:36

Finally braved the scales this morning, having not managed to get "in the Zone" last week and sticking my head in the sand about how badly I'd fallen off the wagon Blush

12st 11lb ShockBlush

That's nearly 1.5 stone over where I'd got to mid March ShockBlush

I've had breakfast of FF Greek yoghurt, cream and cinnamon. I usually IF, but I'd fallen so far away from the wagon that I decided I should fully follow the Rules until I was back securely on the Wagon Wink

I've also already had 4 glasses of water and after my early morning tea, I'm now on to the rooibos (which I'm happy to drink without milk). Halo

BIWI · 13/05/2024 10:57

You aren't a vegetarian, are you, @headstone? I'm afraid that they're really not great for Bootcamp. Not only because of the carb count (really anything processed/pre-prepared that's over around 5g per 100g is too much), but they are heavily processed. This is the ingredient list:

Plant-based pork flavoured sausages made from pea protein.Water, Rehydrated Textured Pea Protein (35%), Rapeseed Oil, Thickeners (Methylcellulose Konjac, Carrageenan, Xanthan Gum), Pea Protein Isolate (2%), Pea Starch, Natural Flavouring, Dried Onion, Olive Oil, Dextrin, Salt, Sage, Black Pepper, White Pepper, Colour (Beetroot Red), Dextrose, Ground Mace.

Sausages filled into Sodium Alginate Casings.

They're also very low in fat, whereas on Bootcamp/low carb we're aiming to eat high fat foods.

Meat-based sausages - assuming you're not veggie - are far better from a carb point of view, e.g. The Black Farmer ones are only 1g carbs per 100g - although they are still a processed food.

Something you can enjoy, but not too often!

@BIWI I wish I did weigh 10 stone and 6lb! Unfortunately 14 stone 1.6lb to lbs is beyond my mental arithmetic powers first thing on a Monday morning.

headstone · 13/05/2024 11:31

I’ll eat the meat ones tomorrow BIWI

mimosa1 · 13/05/2024 11:34

Found you!

FairlyOddmother · 13/05/2024 11:41

Hello, i'd like to join please! I fell off the wagon quite early on last time I did BC (lots of family drama, no excuse I know), but things are calmer now and I'm determined.
Going on holiday in 7 weeks and would like to be a stone lighter.

FFGY and black coffee so far today. I've meals planned for the whole week which I'm hoping will make it easier.

Thanks all for running the bootcamp, it's so good to have accountability/encouragement/threat of the Big Stick!

LowCarbingIn2024 · 13/05/2024 11:51

Hello all.

Just checking in. My weigh-day is Sundays, so I'll add myself to the spreadsheet after work later.

I fell out of bootcamp in February when life got busy, and March n April were mostly NOT low carb. But I'm undoing that damage now.
Unfortunately, I'm away for a few days at the end of May, but hoping not to undo all I've (re)done.

My aim is to lose a stone by mid July, so thats what I'm aiming for.

GoodbyeErinsborough · 13/05/2024 11:57

Good morning everyone!

I haven't done boot camp for a long time (name changed since then too)

This morning I have had some Greek yog and a coffee with double cream.
Lunch was a shallot, flat mushroom and eggs with some cheese.
Dinner will be lamb mince with shredded cabbage.

Can I eat swede? Or is it too carby?

Weight 210lb. Will add to the spreadsheet

GoodbyeErinsborough · 13/05/2024 11:59

I'm trying to download the app to allow me to add to the spreadsheet. I will keep trying.

Rhabarberbarbara · 13/05/2024 12:07

added myself to the spreadsheet, going to be weird measuring in lbs I’m normally a kg person! for breakfast I had avocado on “toast” (cloud bread)

DrBlackbird · 13/05/2024 12:10

@FinallyHere can you please add my weight as I haven’t figured out how to download the spread sheet to my iPad. It’s 12 stone and 3 lbs. Tuna and pepper salad for lunch.

BIWI · 13/05/2024 12:16

headstone · 13/05/2024 11:31

I’ll eat the meat ones tomorrow BIWI

... but also, remember we're trying to cut down on processed foods, so not every day.
