Evening everyone!

I'm starting the first week's chat thread this evening as I know everyone will be chomping at the bit to get going tomorrow!

First, and most importantly, here's the link to the spreadsheet

You'll see that it's now got a bit of colour coding going on. There are several posters who have said that they don't want to be on the spreadsheet, so they are on there, but greyed out - so I know who is/isn't wanting to talk about their weight.

If you're said you're a vegetarian, your row will be coloured green; this is important, so that we know how to advise you about foods (or rather, not to tell you off if you're eating nuts/fruit/seeds when you're allowed to, as a veggie!)

If you haven't seen the spreadsheet before - or even if you have! - have a good look around it. As well as Bootcamp rules, there's loads of helpful information on there (look at the tabs at the bottom). I've revised the vegetable carb count, which now includes some more veg.

If there's anything that isn't clear

That's a good idea @Baystard 🤣

My plan for the day:

B: eggs scrambled in butter with creamy coffee
L: chicken salad with oily dressing and mayo
D: skin on roast chicken with celeriac mash and roast asparagus

Struggling to keep on top of the water but getting there!

DrBlackbird · 14/05/2024 18:04

I’m struggling with the not snacking. Otherwise a disciplined first day. Problem is that it was never about being hungry but more boredom and looking for distraction or breaks from tiring cognitive work. Other than babybel’s has anyone got suggestions for snacks or is the idea to stop snacking 🙈

Ignore! Just found the snack suggestions on the spreadsheet 🙏 but will be mindful about not too many!

DrBlackbird · 14/05/2024 18:09

Will say how odd it is to look at carbs on packages and not fat, calories and sugar. I’ve never really thought about carbs. Was shocked to see the carb count of rice crackers that I always thought of as being healthier.

PunksVersusBrats · 14/05/2024 18:25

Reasonable day so far:
B - rolled omelette + some yoghurt/cream combo
L - garlic, butter and chilli prawns, avocado + salad
D - quick-fry steak, roasted veg + extra mushrooms and asparagus

Haven't done so well on the water today, but I drank 2L yesterday and ended up and down all night to the loo 🙄

After school, one of the teens decided to make himself an epic cheese toastie. The smell was NOT HELPFUL! 🙈

PunksVersusBrats · 14/05/2024 18:27

Whoever it was who said that they're surrounded by temptation, as the rest of the family are carrying on as normal, I feel your pain.

Hi all - got down to 10 stone 3 last time I did boot camp - back up to 10 stone 8 after eating pasta and bread again. Hoping to shift this quite quickly but will have to keep off the carbs.
Yoghurt for breakfast, meatballs with lettuce for lunch, dinner will be an omelette.

MissBeck · 14/05/2024 19:15

Evening!
B - 20g Cheese and coffee with cream
L - Mackerel salad
D - Gammon steak with 3 fried eggs and more coffee with cream.

I was supposed to start up my exercising routine again on my Wii Fit last night, but by the time I had any free time it was 10.30pm, so couldn't be arsed. Will attempt it tonight.

LilianaVikavanovich · 14/05/2024 19:34

@lastchancesalmon we had leftover chicken too , and a leftover ratatouille made into a bake with cauliflower cheese on top , was a delight 👍

@BIWI yep , another holiday . We were meant to go for a long weekend to Palma for DH 60th in April 2020 ……., but instead we had a lot of time at home because of the pandemic .
I think we’re similar in age ( I’m 63 ) and we just decided to book it and not waste any more time ( and there might be 3rd holiday in September , after all , we took out a years travel insurance and need to get our moneys worth )

Been to the gym this morning , then a top up shop , lots of green veg , double cream , butter and my new favourite, cathedral city extra mature cheddar

Back to the crochet now , to keep me busy

BIWI · 14/05/2024 19:39

Very envious! But absolutely with you in terms of living for the moment, especially after Covid.

another cloud bread breakfast for me this morning, then an egg curry and haven’t decided on dinner yet!
having a ponder about good packed food ideas for breakfast lunch and dinner for a long journey next week.

https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/cloud-bread I do a riff on this recipe and don’t include the seeds

terrible photo! But it holds together decent enough for a toast or folded for an sandwich alternative for me.

@Rhabarberbarbara cloud bread? I’m intrigued! Apologies if it’s been spoken about previously but pretty sure I’ve read the whole thread and not come across this.
Good day until dinner. I’d made honey chicken for my 3x DDs & DH thinking I’d rustle up something different for myself. Except got home late and exhausted and very sore so couldn’t be bothered making myself something different. Obvs no rice but cabbage instead. But still really not ideal. I need to prep better so that doesn’t happen again.
Need to drink more water too!!

NotDonna · 14/05/2024 21:16

Ha ha! Obvs cross post with all the other cloud bread queries!

Ooh!! I must try that! Thank you!! I miss bread! 💐It will solve my breakfast stress!

Stowickthevast · 14/05/2024 21:25

Oh fascinated by cloud bread too. Do you need the cream of tartare? I have the rest of the ingredients.

I really wanted some chocolate after supper - I seem to be having a period for the first time in ages (peri + coil) - but resisted and had more yoghurt with a dollop of cream.

B - FFGY
L - leftover cauliflower cheese, salad & tzatziki
S - chicken & broccoli

prettybird · 14/05/2024 22:38

Dh and I shared lovely scrambled eggs made with 6 eggs, 2 shallots and a loaf of quartered baby plum tomatoes that needed to be used up and cream tonight (he had his on freshly baked sourdough)

Working hard on drinking plenty of water Halo

Had a bit of a painful disaster yesterday: settled down at my computer with a freshly made mug of rooibos, to up my fluid intake - and promptly spilled it all over myself! Shock I screamed, which brought dh running, and I whipped off my top and fortunately loose shorts. Ran the shower attachment in the bath on cold water over myself for a few minutes and then actually ran a cold bath and lay in it shivering for at 10 minutes. At least it's not blistered, but I have a very red pour mark (about palm sized) between my navel and right boob and another slightly less red area on my right thigh ((the redness on the left side seems to have gone down). BlushSad It could have been a lot worse though.

NigellaAwesome · 14/05/2024 23:01

Ouch, that sounds sore @prettybird.

Today was a busy cooking day. I made roasted red pepper and Gorgonzola soup and Moroccan chicken.

B: cheese & tomato omelette
L: red pepper soup (tasted ridiculously sweet with just the sweetness of the peppers)
D: Moroccan chicken on a bed of rocket and fennel.
3 coffees, water and a herbal tea.

mimosa1 · 14/05/2024 23:13

Evening all,

Yesterday was not the best start due to travel and lack of planning on my part. I've just done a big online shop and ordered some low carb rolls just in case of getting caught out.

That article was fascinating @Kettlebellend !

Appalonia · 14/05/2024 23:51

A good breakfast is a slice of tomato topped with salami and mozerella, cooked in oven for approx ten mins.

a nice lunch is mushroom soup with thyme, garlic and cream

One of my face things is a whole Camembert, cooked in the oven ( can put thyme and garlic on top ), with sliced celery, peppers and cucumber. So delicious!

sheepdreams · 15/05/2024 05:42

Managed to stick to bootcamp yesterday apart from glass of red on evening! Also need to increase my water intake.

planned food for today:

Br none as IF
Lu: cheese omelette with salad
Tea: shepherd’s pie with cauli mash instead of potato with green beans.

All the 💦.

also planning on walking minimum of 10,000 steps.

I hope everyone has a fab bootcamp day😀

Baystard · 15/05/2024 07:01

Ouch @prettybird

Mushroom soup sounds interesting @Appalonia.I got mushrooms and cream in my big shop yesterday and I don't think I've ever had mushroom soup (since trying some from a tin forty years ago and not dubbing it a success!). This might be my moment to give it a go!

Bex5490 · 15/05/2024 07:54

Hi everyone! I’m 8 weeks since c-section so finally allowed to exercise. Wohooo!!!

I’ve decided to eat pretty much the same thing every day for ease and have done so for the last two days.

B - omelette with avocado and broccoli + coffee

L - salmon or chicken breast with salad

D - chicken legs or pork belly with kale and salad.

snacks - handful of strawberries and raspberries (doing boot camp light as breastfeeding).

Plan to stick to this for the duration! Good luck everyone!

LilianaVikavanovich · 15/05/2024 08:26

Ouch @prettybird 💐

@Appalonia@Baystard re mushroom soup … Tesco have bags of frozen mushroom medley ( or some other daft name , basically frozen fancy mushrooms ) a bag of those , shallots , butter, stock , seasoning , herbs and cream then whizzed / blended til smoothish = fabulous soup

edited to add commas 😀
