Evening everyone!

I'm starting the first week's chat thread this evening as I know everyone will be chomping at the bit to get going tomorrow!

First, and most importantly, here's the link to the spreadsheet

You'll see that it's now got a bit of colour coding going on. There are several posters who have said that they don't want to be on the spreadsheet, so they are on there, but greyed out - so I know who is/isn't wanting to talk about their weight.

If you're said you're a vegetarian, your row will be coloured green; this is important, so that we know how to advise you about foods (or rather, not to tell you off if you're eating nuts/fruit/seeds when you're allowed to, as a veggie!)

If you haven't seen the spreadsheet before - or even if you have! - have a good look around it. As well as Bootcamp rules, there's loads of helpful information on there (look at the tabs at the bottom). I've revised the vegetable carb count, which now includes some more veg.

If there's anything that isn't clear

Keeping it very simple here:
Black coffee
hardboiled egg
Fresh sauerkraut
some wensleydale
massive salad of butter lettuce rocket tomato and radish with fresh French dressing
some brie

excited to make some coleslaw and homemade yogurt tomorrow.

@UnOeufIsEnough - are you new to this WoE?

Sounds like you're not fully ketogenically adapted yet and/or you're not having counter intuitively enough fat to keep you satiated.

Once I'm fully into this WoE, I find I can fast for long periods without being hungry Shock

(Only do it occasionally: my version of 5:2 - but I do need to have got properly back into this WoE).

UnOeufIsEnough · 16/05/2024 20:07

@prettybird that's kind of what I mean. Today I had breakfast at 9am after the school run and then I was completely full until about 2.50pm, when I felt absolutely starving. I'd say I was still full at 2.49pm!

prettybird · 16/05/2024 20:13

If that's the case, you should have had lunch - that's why one of the Rules, especially if you're new to this WoE, is to eat three meals a day You didn't answer the question about whether you were new to it Wink

UnOeufIsEnough · 16/05/2024 20:14

No, I'm not new to it. I've been following since mid-February. I'm just saying my eating habits seem to be changing. It's not a negative thing. Just an observation.

prettybird · 16/05/2024 20:21

As I know BIWI has said that she's not going to be able to be around much for a few days, I'll pick up her mantle and ask the standard questions: jot down what you've been eating the last few days and we'll see if there is anything that can be tweaked - other than making sure to eat lunch Wink

I wouldn't have thought by this stage that you should still be experiencing a cliff-edge of ravenous hunger as your hunger hormones should be more in balance Confused - but it could be that you do need to make sure to have low carb snacks available.

UnOeufIsEnough · 16/05/2024 20:32

I'm not actually worried though. Maybe I'm not explaining myself properly.

I'm eating three meals a day. Today:
B: scrambled egg in butter with coffee and double cream
Lunch: salad with bacon, avocado and mayo
Dinner: duck with crispy skin, broccoli, savoy cabbage with butter

3.5l of water

I'm not hungry between meals and able to go longer between meals. The only difference is that rather than gradually realising I'm hungry, I find that the hunger pangs are quite instant. I don't feel the need to snack between meals because I'm not hungry between meals.

I'm eating properly and losing weight so I'm happy. It's just a change that I noticed.

LilianaVikavanovich · 16/05/2024 21:30

Had a lunch out today , smoked duck breast salad
Really nice , though the dressing was pomegranate so not ideal

I had a gym class this evening then home for a massive cheese and bacon omlette with mushrooms and ( more ) salad

Gingerwarthog · 16/05/2024 21:42

@prettybird
Glad the 8 hour cream is working. It is amazing stuff.
Feeling much more energetic (Day 3 for me) - even managed to go sea swimming this evening - and am not experiencing the pangs of hunger I get when I'm eating carbs. Today was yoghurt, mezze salad and then tuna salad.

NotDonna · 16/05/2024 21:51

I know what you mean @UnOeufIsEnough it just suddenly hits rather than an ‘I’m a bit peckish’ first.
Had a good day today. Managed a dog walk, which was really needed! Was getting cabin fever.

B- coffee with almond milk x3
L- buttery cabbage & chilli with cheese& yoghurt (odd leftovers)
D- Tuna steak, veg, creamy garlic & lemon sauce.
Snack - green olives
probs not enough water - do need to work on that!

UnOeufIsEnough · 16/05/2024 22:06

That's exactly it @NotDonna Smile

lastchancesalmon · 16/05/2024 22:57

Forgot to bring a packed lunch so had to eat at school.

L - tuna mayo (prob dodgy low fat mayo though 🙁) salad and coleslaw (ditto)
D - chicken, courgette & spinach in a pesto and crème fraiche sauce over asparagus.

lastchancesalmon · 16/05/2024 22:59

PS forgot to say I air-fried the roast chicken skin into crackling for a snack - yum!

Goodness, sounds delicious. Was lacking inspiration for todays main meal and now I've some skin-on chicken thighs defrosting ready

Thank you.

EasilyDeterred · 17/05/2024 07:11

Yes, I go from full to famished very suddenly around the time I get home from work, it is definitely when I'm most susceptible to inappropriate snacking.

NotDonna · 17/05/2024 08:02

I’m a daily weigher and delighted to see a few pounds down already and lost the ‘surgery weight’ - I don’t look 8 months pregnant anymore; just 5 months! Definitely moving in the right direction.

EveryonesFavouriteNumber · 17/05/2024 09:35

Hi everyone, struggling with bread cravings here but not giving in!!

UnOeufIsEnough · 17/05/2024 09:39

@EasilyDeterred yes, totally! I'm lucky in that I work from home so as soon as I realise I'm hungry, I can grab something.

Well done everyone on staying strong Smile

EasilyDeterred · 17/05/2024 11:18

@UnOeufIsEnough I don’t WFH which works well for me because I’d have temptation in the way all day, with work I can be much more disciplined because I can only eat what I take with me unless I go out (at least 10 mins walk to nearest shop). I really like having he routine of making my packed lunch the night before and know I wouldn’t bother if I WFH. In fact my life would descend into chaos, I really need the structure of leaving the house every day.

UnOeufIsEnough · 17/05/2024 11:33

I totally get that! Smile It's good that this WOE fits in with lots of different lifestyles!

crosspatchdownthehatch · 17/05/2024 14:02

Salad with butter lettuce, rocket, tomatoes tuna and one hard boiled egg with fresh French dressing… def getting the appetite down as could barely finish it.

roast chicken with butternut squash for later.

I've just seen smoked duck breast in M&S if you fancy recreating it at home Smile

OpalTiger · 17/05/2024 16:24

I am battling an afternoon slump just now - I am not hungry (just had olives and cheese about an hour ago) and not thirsty (1.6l water so far) but I really want a snack! I’ve become far to accustomed to eating something like a protein bar or protein yoghurt at this point - justifying it with it being high protein, low carb but it really has just been to satisfy my sweet tooth rather than trying to get it under control… Just wanted to write that down for some accountability!

Nestnearlyempty · 17/05/2024 16:42

Anyone got any recommendations of non alcoholic wine/prosecco that tastes ok and isn’t too carby ?

NigellaAwesome · 17/05/2024 18:01

@Nestnearlyempty I'm pretty sure I have tried them all in the past, and all of them are quite sweet.
