... which of course it isn't, as the very lovely @FinallyHere has added a new section to the spreadsheet to allow anyone who wants to, to continue.

Here is said spreadsheet

After everyone has recorded their weight today, and we've had a general chat about this Bootcamp, I'm going to start a new thread for ongoing chat, and then I'm going to consider how to move forward with Bootcamp v2.0!

If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions for this, they will be very gratefully received.

Thank you very much @BIWI for the thread, and for everything that goes into Bootcamp. I'll resist banging on here about how it has Finally transformed my life and made everything in my life just ... better.

Thank you for including us all in the 'ideas' gathering. I'll have a think and post later on when I have gathered my thoughts a bit.

nappiesandcontracts · 06/11/2023 08:55

My aim for this boot camp was 1/2 a stone and I'm down 8.6lbs which I'm absolutely DELIGHTED with! Thank you so much @BIWI for setting this up. This is definitely a WOE I can see myself following long term - I've even got DH semi on board (eg last night we both had buttered cabbage with our bolognese rather than spaghetti and he said he preferred it! 😊)

nappiesandcontracts · 06/11/2023 08:56

And huge thank you to @FinallyHere too for your fabulous spreadsheet skills 👏🏼

VeryGoodVeryNice · 06/11/2023 09:08

I did have a slightly cheaty weekend so didn’t lose any more weight but I am thrilled with my stone loss since the end of August. Would like to shift another half a stone, preferably before Christmas as I’m going on holiday just after Christmas. No one has actually noticed that I’ve lost any weight 🤣, but I am quite tall so the difference isn’t too dramatic, especially with clothes on. But my clothes definitely fit better and I feel much better. Quite proud of myself for (mostly) sticking to the WOE despite the last couple of months being incredibly stressful with one thing and another, and I do feel that I am now well and truly in the habit of eating LC food.

I can’t thank @BIWI enough, although technically I started a couple of weeks before BC, there was a lot I didn’t know, and things definitely got easier with the support of BC. And of course @FinallyHere for crunching the numbers.

LadyBird1973 · 06/11/2023 09:09

Thank you @BIWI and @FinallyHere.
I posted on the last thread to say I'm down three quarters of a pound this week, which is good considering I've not been as careful as I could have been and am down 11lb in total this bootcamp. Aiming for another half a stone before Christmas.

Looking forward to the ongoing chat thread - it's been really helpful to have company and advice Flowers

I'm down half a stone too, which I'm pleased with. I would also like to lose another half, (well, 8lbs to be honest) which would see the scales starting with a '9' for the first time in a while.

I think I'll set up a 'lose half a stone before Christmas' thread!

Thanks for running another bootcamp @BIWI - interested to see what v2 might look like...

My social diary has gone haywire this week: we went to an Italian with friends on Saturday, to a bonfire party and dinner yesterday, today I'm meeting a friend for lunch, dinner out on Tuesday and an afternoon tea on Wednesday. Then a couple of nights away with friends next weekend! My aim is to maintain, and I'm managing that with intermittent fasting, lots of water, and making good and careful choices from the menus. The biggest challenge will be the afternoon tea for my friend's 60th birthday, but it includes lots of delicious mini savouries so the damage with the sweet things shouldn't be too bad.

LadyBird1973 · 06/11/2023 10:14

A 'lose half a stone before Christmas' thread would be awesome.

RooRooCooChoo · 06/11/2023 13:26

I totally forgot to weigh in this morning but I'm actually anticipating a gain. Illness has run riot though our house and killed any self-control I'd developed. However, I've started strong this morning and am basically going to pretend bootcamp is continuing.

Thank you so much @BIWI and at @FinallyHere . The weight I've lost on this bootcamp has transformed how I feel about myself, and I couldn't have done it without you both or the support of the rest of the bootcampers.

I'm also very keen on a "half a stone by Christmas" thread. Given how badly I responded to the presence of trick or treat goodies in the house, I have a feeling that a bit of moral support is going to be necessary to resist the inevitable Christmas deluge of chocolate and baked goods.

VeryGoodVeryNice · 06/11/2023 14:11

Yes please to the half a stone by Christmas thread 😁.

pinknsparkly · 06/11/2023 14:33

Hi all. After a good loss at the start, I've been bouncing around losing and gaining the same 2lb. In a way it's good that I've maintained - I tried to mostly low carb but definitely didn't always succeed. My little one is now 12 weeks old, and gradually starting to sleep for longer stints at night. So I'm hopeful that a "lose half a stone by Christmas" bootcamp might work better for me! I would intend to participate in the chat more, as they definitely makes a difference for me (I didn't feel able to participate this time as I was keenly aware that I wasn't sticking to the rules as well as I should have been!!)

Thanks as always for running this one BIWI, and thanks to FinallyHere for (wo)manning the spreadsheet so well.

TheOnlyMrsW · 06/11/2023 14:36

Have ended up pretty much back where I started which to be honest is a bit of a blessing bearing in mind I went off the rails in a major way mid-BC!!! I'm also officially a size 12 in jeans from 3 different places so the first one wasn't just down to vagaries in sizing!!!!

Thanks too to @BIWI and @FinallyHere for all of their help running the BC's (and @prettybird), I'd lurked for a long time pre summer and wouldn't have been able to keep on just on my own. Also one who would love a 1/2 stone before Christmas thread, that would leave me with just another 1/2 stone to get into the healthy BMI range.

One thing that I've liked about this BC is that it's highlighted exactly where my "problem areas" are and helped to identify what I actually miss from a "normal" diet. Alcohol is a bad one for me - I've said before that I'm far better having none at all as a couple here and there doesn't really work, and it's largely a habit to have a glass of wine of an evening or big G&T at the end of the week instead of something I actually want. Similarly I don't miss potatoes, rice or pasta at all - just bread and things like crisps and crackers with a crunch so that will help me to be in maintenance as I can (hopefully) find BC-compliant ways to get this in my diet. Also really struggle with water whilst it's so flipping cold, I have lots of herbal tea instead but think that water would be better overall.

Much to think about.............

bluesupermoon · 06/11/2023 14:48

Thanks so much for the boot camp! I'm down 5.5 lbs as of today which makes 2st this year, really pleased with this. For me this WOE feels sustainable and especially with the support here.

ChimneyPot · 06/11/2023 17:16

I am another person who is very grateful to BIWI for the bootcamp.
I am down 12lbs this bootcamp even though I did a lot of travelling and eating out.
I will also join a 7lb by Christmas thread if there is one. I need something to keep me on track.

VeryGoodVeryNice · 06/11/2023 17:53

Also forgot to say I bloody loved the seeded low carb bread - other loaf is in the freezer so haven’t tried that one yet. It was such a luxury having sandwiches and being able to have soup with bread.

OldandTired66 · 06/11/2023 21:14

Just back from a long weekend with family so missed the weigh-in this morning and did fall off the wagon a bit in the wine and crisps department. I think I'm going to wait til next Monday and try and undo some of the damage with a few days strict bootcamp. It hasn't been my most successful bootcamp in terms of weight loss but I have maintained well and am not despondent or panicking and still enjoying this way of eating. And I've learned to make lc bread. And I spotted turnips out shopping so new veg to play with this week! I was really missing my vegetables by the time I got home. Many thanks to @BIWI and @FinallyHere here and looking forward to the continuation thread.

Carrierbagofseedsandstars · 07/11/2023 00:05

Sorry for the late posting, but I am just back from a very long day at work.

Thank you so much @BIWI @FinallyHere and everyone else, these eight weeks have, without any exaggeration been totally life changing.

To be honest, I don't know how I came across the Bootcamp, as I never look at Mumsnet, but I found it at just the right time.

As well as losing more weight than I had ever thought possible, without feeling deprived, ever, life has been better in so many ways.

  • I have so much more energy
  • I feel more flexible and I have lost the weird aches and pains in my hands
  • My skin looks better
  • I feel more clarity, I have lost a lingering fogginess I wasn't aware of
  • I am certainly saving money, no visits to the vending machine any more and when I travel I don't spend a fortune on service station snacks
  • I really look forward to my meals
  • I have learned some great new recipes - celeriac dauphinoise, cauliflower cheese made with double cream
  • Most of all, I feel in control of what I eat, rather than having food control me and this is the most wonderful feeling.

I can't thank you all enough, definitely couldn't have done it without you all - and I will definitely be there for the 7lb by Christmas thread.

Helpwithfamily · 07/11/2023 10:14

I have been lurking throughout (and on previous boot camps). I don’t post because I am not really here for the weight loss, more the other benefits of this way of eating.

I am a keen runner, and have worked out through trial and error that this works for me, and means I can run longer and need less fuel.

I am back to running for 2 hours without needed to take anything to eat with me, which makes life much simpler, and recovering from long runs is less painful too.

I did lose 3 Kg to start with, and am back in a dress I love. But sleeping better and running further are definitely the more important results for me.

I really enjoy hearing about the food that other people are eating, it gives me ideas for delicious recipes, but also people share how to adapt them for family life. I would never have tried celeriac dauphinois without the suggestion from here.

So, thanks very much everyone!

OldandTired66 · 07/11/2023 10:46

Weigh in this morning after weekend away was a bit 😱. So clearly need to work on my away game as I have two more weekends away with friends before Christmas. But I'm in full control of my meals for the next 2 weeks, so no more excuses!

LadyBird1973 · 07/11/2023 15:55

I've had the cake munchies today and ate a piece of Victoria Sponge! Am mad at myself now!

Doing curry for dinner today, using spice paste and coconut milk for the sauce.

Am drawing a line under my blip and getting straight back on it now.

Frumpyunicorn · 07/11/2023 22:44

I think I posted on the wrong thread and wondered why I hadn't had any notifications! Thank you @BIWI and @FinallyHere I have found this process really n it is the first time in years that I have been able to stick to something for more than a few weeks. I will join you on the lose 1/2 stone before Christmas thread too
