Summer 2023, the final weigh in & ongoing chat

I started, so I'll finish. Wink

I've agreed with the lovely @BIWI that I'll start this thread as I started the Boot Camp and I wanted to finish it. Smile

She's going to jump back in with her much bigger Big Stick Grin until I feel more up to it.

The lovely @FinallyHere will be along shortly with the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

Thank to both of them for their support Flowers - and to you lot too! Flowers

I hope you've got what you wanted from this Boot Camp. We'll stay around here for chat and support until the next Boot Camp is organised. Smile

I started Boot Camp early myself in early June at 12st 12.75lb. Having got down to 12st 1.75lb, I then had a massive blip in July for various weird reasons Confused and sent back up to 12st 6lb ( above where I'd started on Week 1 of official Boot Camp Blush) but had got back to 12st 4lb 2 weeks ago.

Since then, I've dropped to 11st 12.75lb, so that's a whole stone. A bit drastic, but I'll take it as a minor positive Wink but for a sad reason Sad

I might manage to get under 11.5st before we go to South Africa next month Shock

I bought a nice dress off Vinted only it's way too small

LadyBird1973 · 24/08/2023 17:06

Hopefully not for long @HappiDaze Smile

TheOnlyMrsW · 24/08/2023 17:32

KOKO here although I can feel bad habits creeping in - more wine during the week, nicking dad's chips at lunch yesterday, not enough water etc so need to be far more strict. Weight is the same (hovering around 12st but frustratingly not under yet apart from one day!).
However I think I might have cracked the energy thing - have been taking a B12 supplement this week as well as good gut ones and feel a big difference. Still takes a huge effort to get out of bed in the mornings but at least I haven't been needing to get back in it at 9pm!!!
Also need to do a big shop this week - I seem to have full freezers but not much in them to make actual meals out of and need basics like chopped toms, stockpots............
I'm very envious of @venusandmars pottering in the kitchen today, I need a day like that but won't be for a couple of weeks unfortunately

cardboardbox24 · 24/08/2023 18:00

Hi all. Thanks for the low carb bread ideas. I'm a bit worried that they may end up as my "gateway drug" back into the hard stuff so I might give it a few weeks. My good news is that I broke through the 10 stone barrier today- 9 stone 13.6 pounds! Psychologically a big deal for me.

cardboardbox24 · 24/08/2023 18:12

@venusandmars your cooking sounds amazing!

venusandmars · 24/08/2023 20:14

@cardboardbox24 Woop woop Yeah! what an achievement. We all have our own big goals and little goals.

If you are eating well and healthily, and drinking lots of water, and enjoying it and feeling good, just KOKO

prettybird · 26/08/2023 16:47

I'm still KOKO - only two and a bit weeks until our holiday. Am finally getting on with finishing off the preparations for the trip (like booking the interval flights and car hire Shock) that we're now massively behind schedule on Hmm

Trying to drink plenty of water - constantly thirsty so trying to drink more "electrolyte" water.

@venusandmars - how are you getting on? Flowers

venusandmars · 26/08/2023 20:12

@prettybird I've sent you a pm. All OK here.

Had the left over lamb keema curry tonight, with roasted cauliflower, spicced courgette fritter and cucumber and cream cheese raita.

Baystard · 27/08/2023 19:45

Well done @cardboardbox24 that's a super achievement 👏

cardboardbox24 · 27/08/2023 19:51

@Baystard ah thank you! I'm going to leave off weighing myself again for another few days as I'm premenstrual and just hoovered down half a punnet of grapes 😂

LadyBird1973 · 28/08/2023 08:20

Happy Monday all! Hope you are enjoying the bank holiday weekend.
Yesterday I feel like I wanted to eat everything that wasn't nailed down. This always seems to happen the day before I'm due to weigh in.
Had scrambled eggs on low carb toast for bf, dinner was roasted veg in basil oil, a 3 cheese fondue and seed crackers. Snacks were low carb chocolate. Did stay away from the alcohol though.
Think I'm 2lb down this week in spite of yesterday.

BIWI · 28/08/2023 09:06

THE NEXT BOOTCAMP!

I'm starting the next one - a sort-of 'Back to School' bootcamp - from 11 September. As with this one, it will run for 8 weeks.

The very lovely @FinallyHere has the new spreadsheet all ready, so I'll be posting the sign-up thread shortly.

TheOnlyMrsW · 28/08/2023 09:33

Me please, thanks @BIWI.

DH has been away this weekend, DC at work for most of it and whilst the late nights are good for keeping my alcohol intake down as I pick up it also means I haven't eaten very well myself. Add to that a festival yesterday - went solo which was v nerve-racking - with food options that were all carby and I feel the need for a reset.
Did get lots of compliments (although I went on my own I did know people so had company between sets) and I bought new underwear last week in a size 12 which fit and feel comfortable hooray!!!!

Bought some lovely eggs from the farm shop at the weekend so will have a scrambler for brunch and dinner will be roast pork with cauliflower cheese, broccoli, roast parsnips and potatoes for the carbies.

But first chores that were neglected yesterday! @prettybird I hope the holiday planning is going ok in tough circumstances, I always like that part almost as much as the trip itself.....

cardboardbox24 · 28/08/2023 12:07

Amazing @BIWI !! I'll be signing up

OldandTired66 · 28/08/2023 12:57

Ooh, fab. I'll be signing up, thank you @BIWI. Put on a pound this week, probably due to eating out 3 times, though I more or less stuck to plan. Why do social occasions all seem to turn up at once? Off to Devon for 3 days this week so next bootcamp can't come soon enough!

HappiDaze · 28/08/2023 14:27

I haven't eaten much

The bathroom flooded 2 nights ago at 1.30am and there was a veritable tsunami in the hallway below and as a consequence we had a domino effect of no water, water downstairs only, back to no water and now water as normal yay

Driving to pick up DD and friends from Reading this morning

I'm tired and drained

LadyBird1973 · 28/08/2023 18:01

Flooding is awful and so stressful. I remember getting a burst pipe in the loft one Christmas and having water pouring through the walls.
Flowers@HappiDaze

Baystard · 28/08/2023 21:19

Oh @HappiDaze that sounds awful. Flowers

HappiDaze · 29/08/2023 09:24

We have water again. During the flooding at 1.30am Sunday I called the fire brigade who were amazing and isolated the burst pipe and also put in brand new fire alarms while they were at it.

However we then had no water coming in to the house which they found confusing.

I called the waterboard at their advice at 2.30 am who sent someone round by 3.30 am Amazing !!! He couldn't get any water in either.

He booked for their people to come and replace all the equipment in the pavement supplying the house. They arrived at 8am Sunday. We had water again coming to the downstairs.

Plumber came on bank holiday Monday and sorted out the rest.

As for food I've been frying loads of chicken or pork and then adding veggies mainly cabbage and courgette after that for quick simple delicious satisfying meals.

venusandmars · 29/08/2023 10:29

@HappiDaze I was going to ask about you being 'drained' but I thought the joke might not be appreciated when you were stressed. I hope there's not too much residual damage, water is a bugger! except when you're drinking loads of it on bootcamp

Veg box arrived this morning so on the meal plan for this week is Jamie's muschroom curry, some shaksukka made with tomatoes, kale and red peppers, steak with celeriac chips and courgette fritters, cauliflower cheese with crispy bacon.

Mushroom curry recipe | Jamie Oliver mushroom recipes

Jamie Oliver's vegan mushroom curry recipe is hard to beat. Creamy coconut milk makes a rich and tasty sauce, while nutty brown rice gives amazing texture.

Baystard · 29/08/2023 19:32

My wedding and engagement rings have become quite loose recently, to the point where I'm frightened to wear them running or swimming. It's a NS-not-victory. However it's the first downside I've found to having lost alot of weight so I'll take it!

FinallyHere · 30/08/2023 13:15

Gratters @Baystard

My wedding ring has been resized, I hesitated 'in case I put the weight back on ', wore it on my middle finger for a while (which lots of people noticed -sigh) then went ahead as a sign of my commitment to sticking with this WOE

I may have not told DH about the 'double commitment' vow on the one ring 🤭

prettybird · 30/08/2023 13:23

@Baystard - I think that's a congratulations for your NS-non-victory WinkConfused

After not wanting to eat after dad's death and losing quite a few pounds too quickly, I've now stabilised at 11st 13lb.

I'd like to get to under 11st 9lb, which is where I got to at Christmas, before I go on holiday - but that's now less than 2eeeks away Shock

In good news, I'm starting to exercise again, having not felt like doing anything for the last 4 weeks, so at least that's a step forward. Smile

cardboardbox24 · 30/08/2023 13:56

@prettybird well done for getting back into exercise- I'm sure that will help a little bit with how you are feeling. I've just booked a PT session for Friday- my first proper bit of exercise for about a year 😬.
