How is everyone doing?

I just wanted to see if others have continued to follow the low carb eating plan. I wanted to thank everyone for the support and especially to @BIWI for organising the boot camp and the spreadsheets. I didnt post often but I did read all the recipes and posts and was really encouraged to keep going.

Today getting on the scales I was a bit worried because I have been dog sitting at my sons for the last 7 days and they dont have an air fryer or microwave and their oven is temperamental, I ate Kvarg and wholemeal seeded toast with peanut butter for breakfast every day, Chicken and cheese salad at lunch time but then 2 glasses of wine and some nuts in the evening. One day my other son took me out for brunch, (belated mothers day) and I did succumb to a panini with melted cheese and pickle so was a bit naughty this week) anyway a message popped up on the scales to ask if I was me! I thought "Oh no, it does that when there is a massive discrepancy" So I clicked yes, I am me...and it registered a 4 pound loss!!

I think its the dog walking and even with the wine and toast, and the panini, I was careful to keep under 130g carbs and the maximum 1400 calories, but normally I lose 1 pound a week on 1200 cals so this was amazing. I think the thing bootcamp taught me was to be mindful of what I am eating and in moderation (like a birthday or mothers day, wedding etc) I can allow myself something like wine or a carb or 2)

How is everyone else doing? I miss reading everyones news.

I miss the convo, too.
And the solidarity - seems I can't stick to low carb without the accountability and encouragement of bootcamp (yet!!). Also travel, illness, travel - need more skills and self-control to keep it up.
It's frustrating because I'm happy to switch to "maintenance" diet - don't feel a need to stay in ketosis but I know I feel so much better without being on the insulin roller-coaster. BUT it may turn out I can't resist cravings unless I stick to very low carb diet.

I'll b back on the next bootcamp because I've still lots to learn.

Yes the thread helped us all keep on track didnt it, do you weigh in each week still? I have tried to follow it but a little more relaxed on certain days, like today which is my birthday, we are going out for dinner, I will stick to steak and veg but will drink wine and have one expresso martini.

How was your day?

Thanks for the thanks, @Jenasaurus Grin

Haven't been here for a while as I've just been on holiday.

DontGetEvenGetEverything · 25/03/2023 00:16

Oh happy birthday!!
I'm not weighing regularly because I got to within healthy weight. Not my ideal yet but trying to keep the focus on health rather that size. BUT not doing a good job with health tbh!!
We're on a big road trip, driving nearly 9,000km over six weeks. We started out with a (car) freezer full of low carb meals but I'm now back to usual for convenience / habit / comfort.
Your birthday treat sounds lovely.

Just recorded my regular 'last Saturday of the month' weight on myfitnesspal. Lowest I've been for a year 💪😁. Road trip sounds fab @DontGetEvenGetEverything.

@DontGetEvenGetEverything I love the idea of a roadtrip, sounds a lot of fun :) Hope you had a lovely holiday @BIWI and wekk done on the weight loss @OldandTired66

I was exceptIonally naughty this weekend. One of our group was delayed on a train from London to the restaurant so had a starter of garlic bread with mozorella and more wine than planned. The wine I ordered only came in bottles and there was only one other wine drinker in the group who was driving! Anyway, ate the steak and the veg (including some roast potatoes) and then had a tiramisu for desert! Then my DS said there was a bar with live music and dancing nearby, so we went there, I did dance for ages and my fitbit said nearly 400 cals burnt so that is something, but somehow we kept having shots!

Then yesterday my DD took me for dinner and to an escape room, I had chicken tikka masala, but didnt eat the rice, but did have a Naan and a poppadom. Anyway weighed in this morning and gone up by 3 pounds!!! and my other DS is taking me out for sunday lunch today and we are also visiting my parents woodland burial plot to see how tall the trees are now! Monday I am back on track but I have eaten too many carbs this weekend thats for sure. Next week I am going to do the bootcamp rules for the whole week to let my poor body recover ! :)
